Sterling American Grill — Restaurant in Sterling Heights

Since when is it okay for a business owner, and their staff, to make racist remarks, and talk politics while open and customers seated?

For the record, I am not posting this because I am anti-Trump...I am anti-politicians (all of them) period. I a posting this because I am anti unprofessional, ignorant, and racist business owners/employees.

Complaining about the apartments that are being built across the street because they are only allowing 'arabs' to move in and, 'not needing another welfare complex like the trailer park behind us."

That wasn't the worst of it.

A woman, her two children, and an older female, all who were people of color, had come in shortly after us. Before even approaching their table the waitress rolled her eyes and then blew out a long breath appearing annoyed. The two children, who I am guessing were under the age of 5, were well behaved, polite, and any mother would have been proud. They left before us and the comments made after they cleared the door shocked me. I will not repeat the comments here because they were racist and, frankly, disgusting. They were not said out loud like the political conversation that took place when we first arrived. We overheard only because we were sitting close enough to the pickup window to hear the owner, two waitresses and two customers, older men, that were sitting at the counter. You had 'no choice'? 'We have to serve them'? It was disgusting to witness and we immediately grabbed the check and headed for the front counter.

Oh, and we didn't forget to leave a tip, we chose not to reward hateful, racist, vile behavior.

If you want to alienate customers, you are definitely accomplishing just that. We will never be back. Living in the area, we have made sure to tell neighbors, friends, and family about what we witnessed. What we were not expecting was finding out others had similar experiences, thought not to the same extent. That is what finally pushed me to post a review.

Please, DO NOT give this establishment your business. We do not need or want this type of mindset in our...

Been frequently coming here for breakfast and salads for a few years, but it gets worse every time! This time I had to leave a review since there were flies in the salad, not fruit flies, but actual big house flies! See Pics! They don’t serve pita bread with their Greek salads, Hash browns are either burnt or practically raw, just depends on the day, you can use the toast for a frisbee and it will probably out last a plastic frisbee ! And WHY when I spend $30 on breakfast am I still getting a 4% charge when using my debit, this is unheard of anywhere else. And if they owner is the older lady who is always serving, then yes I agree with other reviews, she can be rude....just depends on the day you get her, the younger server has always been really nice! Sad, some of the food is good, but this place is heading down...

I was in the area for work and was looking for a place for a quick lunch. I had been driving for hours and on my way in and to the bathroom the lady behind the counter was staring at me oddly and asking what I needed. I told her Im going to use the rest room real quick if thats ok. After coming out of the restroom one of the waitress's was putting chairs on top of the tables as if they were closing and I also noticed it was pretty dirty. I decided I was just going to leave and find another place. The lady behind the counter yells, "don't ever come here again if you ain't buying something" I said ok, I will not come back.
