So my boyfriend took me to this restaurant for the first time. First thing, the restaurant is beautiful right when you walk in, it’s not too big, has a nice home feeling with beautiful interior design and dim for a perfect romantic dinner. Second thing, I wanted to start with some champagne and one of the managers really took care of me, hand picked out something that was perfect due to my requirements. Very professional and knowledgeable. Third thing, the staff was lovely, professional, and they all had a personality, not super stiff like most restaurant staff at other cookie cutter restaurants which was very refreshing. Fourth thing, the FOOD. ☺️ for starters we had Buffalo fried alligator and crab cakes to share. The alligator was perfect and idk what dipping sauce they use but it was off the chain. Crab cakes were good, very crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth on the inside. Delicious. For our entrees, I had their rack of lamb and my boyfriend had their Wassota Burger with their truffle fries. I absolutely loved my rack of lamb, cooked really well and the flavor was great. My boyfriend had his burger and it wasn’t cooked the way he asked but he thought it was still okay. We ordered dessert drinks. I had the toasted almond martini and my boyfriend had the White Russian. I absolutely loved my toasted almond martini, but for the price, I was expecting some actual martini glasses and some art like chocolate syrup on the glass or SOMETHING. But overall the drink tasted good. My boyfriend wasn’t very impressed with his White Russian, it had ice in it and it really watered down the flavors that a White Russian is known for. So again, drinks not really worth their salt in price. Last but not least, Chef John made us a dessert off menu, the Blueberry Crème Brûlée. I have had a lot of Créme Brûlée in the past, but the word I couldn’t get out of my head was “superior”. It was the most delicious Créme Brûlée I personally have ever had! The sugar crust at the top was done to perfection and the inside was the most amazing texture. I really don’t anything could top it.
So overall, I’d give the restaurant in a whole a 4. The staff was amazing, atmosphere amazing. Variety in food and drinks is great. The dessert drinks could be a little better. Entrees could be priced better. I don’t think the food is worth 35+ per plate based on the overall quality of the meat. But the dessert really surprised me and everything...
Read moreMy wife and I been here twice in the last few months and we have had the same server. (I already forgot her name, sorry). We've had an excellent experience both times and intend to make this a quarterly visit.
Bill was a cheerful and friendly bartender and kept the right balance of attentiveness and not overstaying in our conversation. We were here during Happy Hour which makes the beer reasonably priced. The move to our table came with the offer for our server to carry our drinks over. I'm certainly not that lazy or entitled to accept that offer, but it is a nice touch.
Our server has been excellent both times. My wife gets the filet mignon and I have gotten the dry aged ribeye and the dry aged porterhouse. I would recommend the ribeye over the porterhouse, but each had been cooked perfectly to medium-rare and had the savory beef flavor that requires little too no seasoning or other accoutrements. The truffle fries are phenomenal and the Mac and cheese is pretty great as well. The asiago bread didn't pair well with the cinnamon butter, but I was too full to eat the complimentary bread since we were planning on dessert.
Dessert was bananas foster, a wonderful blend of spirits and the measuring stick of the internet. It could always use more spirits in my opinion, but I recognize myself as an outlier for that.
After such a glowing review one might ask why I don't intend to frequent the restaurant more often. Simply, it ain't cheap. We haven't gotten out of there without spending a chunk more than $100/ person. It is worth the cost of admission and I say that as someone that can cook a mean steak at home. I loathe paying $40 for a meal that I could cook at home, but I'll pay well over double for...
Read moreI love this place!! Every single dish is PACKED with flavor, but not in an overwhelming way! The entire menu is a la carte with each side being meant to serve 2 people. This is fine for a date or group meal, but not so great if you're dining alone (no shame in that! I do it often) and want to try a few different sides, unless of course you like leftovers.
And on that topic, the vegetables and risotto reheat excellently, however the Truffle Mac does not! The service has been great every time I've gone!
The only drawback is their desserts (which is why they get 4 stars instead of 5). The chocolate cake was dense, yet crumbly and dry- so very disappointing! I couldn't even finish it because it wasn't worth the extra sugar, fat, and calories.
The raspberry tiramisu was awful! The marscapone was way too over powering, the texture was dry and not creamy, and the flavor was....cheese, it tasted like cheese with a very mild after taste of what a child imagines a raspberry might taste like had they ever had one. It was just an awful experience.
The carrot cake is extravagant though! Very large serving with candied pecans (or was it walnuts, I get those mixed up) sprinkled on top, and layers of creamy and delicious cream cheese frosting! So far their only redemptive dessert.
I went to celebrate a birthday and they brought out a complimentary dessert and a card that was signed by the whole staff! That was so sweet! I've never experienced that before and it was so much better than some obnoxious song!
So, dinner and apps are delicious!! Excellent service! Skip...
