UPDATE Still my favorite place to pick up good food at a decent price, my current favorite meal is still the Mongolian Pork with fried rice and an order of the crab rangoon.
ORIGINAL review from 2021 Still my favorite Chinese place in Stillwater! In love with their dumpling sauce, we love the dumplings too, they are excellent, but it's the sauce here that really carrys them beyond the next level, almost into addiction, the balance between the salty, sweet, savory is excellent. Not spicy but you get the flavor of the chili in it and the green onion/scallions add a good subtle flavor. We absolutely love the curry and the Mongolian Pork is excellent! I haven't seen it anywhere else. Everyone has Mongolian Beef (including here) and its one of my all time favorites, but if you like pork and are looking for a little change try it! I also love that they haven't charged me extra to add mushrooms and they add a decent, balanced amount unlike Golden Dragon which always charges like $3 to add mushrooms to my Mongolian Beef and I'm lucky if they put 5 in the whole entree. The portions are generous here compared to other places. Especially when it comes to things like the Sweet and Sour Shrimp! They fill the same sized container up with med sized shrimp as everything else. As opposed to giving a numbered amount (4-6 large shrimp usually) like most places. The Spring Rolls are 2 to an order for $1.50 and are the typical small, crispy, flaky type you think of, they are good. You can actually taste a slight hint of crab in the Rangoon, more than most places but not strong. They are moderately priced like everything else. I actually prefer to make and freeze them at home as they are really easy and cheaper to make and you can control how much crab meat is added and make sure it's real crab. But as far as the restaurants in town this is the only place so far that I have actually noticed a slight crab flavor at all in the sweetened cream cheese mixture. The only thing they don't have that I have noticed (maybe they do, I havent seen it on the online menu though) that I wish they had is the in-house hot mustard. I usually buy large containers of it at Golden Dragon then freeze it in ice cube trays to store in freezer bags. Makes it easy to just defrost a cube or 2 at a time as needed. Lasts for months that way. The kids prefer the lo mein here as they say it's not as oily, the same with the fried rice. Has good flavor but still light and fluffy and not oily. The kids love the Sesame Chicken, and the S&S Chicken, my daughter has said that she wishes they had S&S Pork as well, but she loves the chicken. The boys are in love with the S&S Shrimp. All of that said, to be honest we have yet to order something from there that we didn't like. I like being able to order online through their website for faster pick up as we have a lot of people to feed usually so its always a $50-60 order just about anywhere like this. They are more generous with the sauces and stuff here with large orders than other places. I'm used to having to order a lot of extra on things like S&S sauce. They are still the little 4oz containers but they actually fill them up, no half filled cups for a large order of S&S chicken or shrimp here! I get so tired of how stingy places are with condiments in this town. We never have that issue in Tulsa, there's just something about this town. It doesn't matter if its the ketchup/mustard/mayo/Mac sauce etc on the sandwiches at McDonald's (always dry, lucky to get a nickle sized spot of sauce on the sandwiches, don't get me started on the lack of lettuce on the Macs either) or dipping sauces/gravy at places like Rib Crib (if you order to-go and don't eat inside) or Chili's and everywhere in between. Most of the Asian restaurants in town are no different. There are a few hidden gems like this place that still give enough for the food without having to buy extra. We were worried when this place closed down for a while last year with everything that happened and are really REALLY happy to...
Read moreVery good prices for decent food- not the best asian cuisine I've had but it's certainly better than the places on campus. You might as well order here if you want asian food because this place has better and gives more food for a price similar to what you would pay on or near campus. Their deliveries are quick and nicely packaged/bagged. The only qualms I've really had with the food is that the sauces (especially those meant to be spicy) are a little lacking in flavor/spice.
Overall- not the highest quality food in town but there's a lot of value and good service for a good price. I will definitely be a returning customer...
Read moreI honestly don’t understand the hype around Happy Buddha in Stillwater. The food lacked flavor, and it’s frustrating that you have to choose either noodles or rice — most traditional Chinese fast-food restaurants include both.
The portions felt small, and it seemed like locals were given larger portions than new customers. Also, the drive-thru seems to get priority: I waited behind three cars before being served. I ended up leaving hungry and didn’t even get noodles — I just went home instead lol.
Overall, the experience left me disappointed, and I personally would rather go to...
