To begin on a lighter note, Management is very friendly, and for the price the amenities are reasonable. The staff will always get back to you fairly quickly. The gym was always dirty but the lobby was always a nice place to hangout. You are paying for all the amenities, use them! Brett was always very sweet and helpful whenever you needed something or had any questions. And although maintenance took awhile, they were always amazing and whenever they fixed something it stayed fixed. The pool could be cleaner but regardless still a nice feature they offer residents. They always had events or awards and they were always fun to go. Additionally, for the price (Even though the price of rent is raised) of rent and amenities included it is a decent and fair price.
Apartment was filthy upon move in, with grime in the bathroom and spilled liquids all in the freezer. My unit was the only unit without blinds and my roommate had a bullet hole in her window. The elevator in my unit was broken for 60% of the semester so good luck if you are disabled or injured going up the stairs. maintenance is decent but the beginning of move ins you will be lucky to get anyone to come in the first 3 weeks of putting a form in. It took over a month for our garbage disposal to be fixed after both my roommates and I put requests in for it to be fixed and the sink would not drain. Then, there was an incident in which there were wasp nests on the underside of the balconies and my dog ended up getting stung. Parking is always an issue because they never enforce tickets for visitors or people without a Quarters parking pass. So good luck trying to find parking at your own home. I received a parking violation for $500 by the city because there was genuinely no place to park, even in the overflow lots. Wi-fi went out for two weeks right before finals so you were forced to go on campus or a friends house to do anything. The water heater went out during like November and it took two weeks for it to be fixed and we had to take cold showers or showers at friend's houses. All the rooms come with damages so be sure to put in a maintience request before you are charged with it at the end of your lease, which is another topic. They will charge you big time for damages that you are either unaware of or did not do but did not report. You will get a fine at the end of your lease depending on these damages and they can range from $100-$500+.
Overall, I would say I disliked my experience at the Quarters because the bad outweighed the good. While I did have some good moments, you're paying to live here and your living situations should be prioritized. With that being said, I would not recommend living here and many other residents I spoke to would say more or less...
Read moreThis apartment complex is very nice for the price. The pool, gym, and parking is all great. I have had no trouble finding a parking space so far. The maintenance of the property is very adequate. The cleaning wipes in the gym have been completely dried out for a while now and not replaced. They ask you to clean the tanning beds after use but do not provide you with any cleaning tools. 2 out of the 4 doors in our building (2) do not lock. That means anyone can get in and out of the building if they feel like it. I have been here for a month now and the doors are still not fixed. The safety of residents does not seem to be a priority for them. This is especially alarming considering 2 cars were stolen a few weeks ago. I was not provided blinds when I moved into my apartment, which is right off the street. ANYONE could see straight into my unit, and I felt like I had no privacy what so ever. I had to rush to the store to purchase curtains on move in day. 1 month later and still no blinds until my roommate's father had to go into the office and make a scene(thank god for him).
My personal move in experience was also very disappointing. I walked in to the apartment with the common area a complete mess. Trash bags all over the floor with piles of dirt, scuff marks and dirt all over the walls, stove pans rusted so bad they had holes in them, tape and paper hanging from the ceiling, a huge layer of dust covering the ceiling fan..etc. When confronting the office about the terrible condition of the common area they explained that they do not clean, or paint the common area when someone is living in a unit. 3 of us moved in and one of our 'matched' roommates had been living in the unit for THREE YEARS. That means the common area has not had any attention from maintenance or professional cleaning for 3 whole years, and they were not going to do it for us. We had to DEEP clean the apartment ourselves on the day we moved in and that should never happen. I am now nervous that the 'wear and tear' of 3 years is going to fall on us when we leave this unit ( which we definitely will be leaving at the end of the year ). When moving into a new apartment it should be nothing but SPOTLESS and ready for move in. I feel like this is unjustifiaby unfair and like I have been ripped off.
In conclusion the staff does not seem interested in the well being of residents, keeping up with the property, or providing a safe...
Read morePros: It has a roof and four walls. The student employees are kind. The water and power worked. Cons: My time at the Quarters was plagued by cockroaches. Throughout my time, numerous requests for pest control went unheeded. Home bug defense is an absolute must have. The valet trash service, which you are required to pay for even if you do not use, contributes to the pest problems due to entire hallways being lined with stinky trash bags, sometimes for days. Upon moving in, my air conditioning was broken, and I was forced to find other accommodations for the three days that it was out before it was fixed on account of the 90 degree and higher conditions in my room and the 105 degree and higher conditions outside of it. Additionally, this complex and company will charge you at will. First, there was a bogus $99 technology that got assigned late in my lease when I had already paid the technology fee on the lease earlier in the year. Then, when I transferred units, I was charged a $300 transfer fee that was never mentioned in any of the lease documents I signed. So what did they do? Send me a one page document with the fee included that I was required to sign before I moved in. For a charge that had previously not existed. Upon moving out of my unit, I was charged an additional $25 for cleaning. Which is laughable, because I can guarantee that the room was in better condition when I left than the dust covered, grime covered state it was in when I moved in. The internet, while included, would drop connections between 10 and 20 times per day, so good luck if you were trying to take any timed online assignments. Better hope you turn it in during the window where the internet is working. My unit also featured a wonderful refrigerator that held food about 10 degrees over safe food storage levels, and upon placing a maintenance request, the technician stuck his hand in the door, said “feels cold to me”, and left. Which I feel is a perfect analogy to the company at large for how they treat their residents. Between the sharing of your space with pests, not honoring their own contracts, predatory fees, and a general disregard for their residents (here’s looking at you, door on the North side of building one that didn’t have lock on it for the entire year I lived there), you are better off spending your money almost anywhere else...
