Ambience: The outside of the restaurant hides a vibrant interior with mexican inspired art decorating the walls like a mural of Frida Castro. They have mexican music (banda, corridos, norteñas) playing lightly in the background. Staff: The staff was very friendly. My waitress, Isabel, was bilingual, attentive, and very helpful when I asked questions about the menu. Drinks: My friend had an agua de horchata. Their recipe is not that creamy but still rich in flavor. The drink came in a jarrito mug, and the weight of it actually scratched the wooden tables when you slid it around. I had a mexican Coca-Cola, cane sugar makes the difference. They have other mexican beverages check out their menu for the full list. Food: The menu is enormous, almost overwhelming. They give you chips and salsa as soon as you sit down, salsa seemed to come from a can. I asked about their al pastor recipe, it does not come on a trompo. Their carnitas recipe does not contain buche or cueritos. So, instead, my friend and I got street tacos and fajitas. Their corn tortillas ( I can't speak about their flour tortillas) are store bought and reheated. The quality of their meat was good but lacked seasoning, at least from a traditional mexican pov. It seemed to me that for the fajitas, they just poured the canned salsa over the meat while cooking. But it came with a side of refried beans, guacamole, sour cream, rice, and lettuce. The tortillas for the street tacos are also store bought and reheated. The carne asada from the taco was tasty. I want to be clear that the food tastes good. But as a former chef with a mexican cuisine background, I was disappointed. Price: For 2 people, 2 drinks (non alcoholic) and 2 dishes, fajitas, and tacos, the total came out to be $54.44. You can see the exact prices in the photos. For the amount of food and quality of it I think was it was worth it. Overall: Chill mexican vibes, decent food, I wouldn't make it my "go-to place," but I...
Read moreI never do restaurant reviews, but I had to hop on here to say GO TO THIS RESTAURANT! I’ve been disappointed by pretty much all Mexican food in the US since going to Mexico City (I do like Machete in Woodbury and Rocco’s Tacos in FL and don’t get to the cities so I’m sure there are more there). My uncle recommended it and my mom and I were both floored! I had the quesabirrias(you’d be really impressed knowing that I only eat red meat maybe 3-4 times per month cuz I’m picky about quality, but it was perfection) and my mom had chicken fajitas(also a picky meat eater and she liked it so much she fed me some on a fork..in public mind you…I’m 36 y.o. and was so happy with my food and cherry Pepsi that I forgot to be embarrassed). I got about 2.6475 (I made that up) meals out of mine for a very reasonable price…for just a little over what you pay nowadays for a combo meal at a fast food restaurant…$15-20! Literally the only thing I would change is to order milk because the salsa is amazing, but at medium spicy at least. I couldn’t stop eating it, though cuz it “hurt so good”. You can “Americanize” with flour tortillas and I hate that I do that, but it’s very authentic otherwise. The decore and ambiance is even on point! It was steamy out and cool air blew on us in the entry. Did I see a waterfall? Idk…I was sooo into my food and awestruck, but I think I did…waterfall and greenery and Frida Kahlo on the wall! The place was clean, staff were prompt and friendly, and yeah again the foooood! We don’t drink, but I bet they hit that one out of the hypothetical ballpark, too! P.S. I have no affiliation and no one paid me to do this review. I’m literally up looking at food pictures hoping we go again soon so my dad can fall in love, too. Maybe we can celebrate my birthday early…it’s in February. Can’t...
Read moreWould give 6 stars if I could! The smell when you first walk in told us we made a good choice. We went on Sunday evening, so not too many fellow patrons, and were sat at a nice booth right away. Our host and our waitress were both very friendly, and quite patient as we browsed the menu. Complementary chips and salsa provided! I ordered the Quesabirrias, my partner got the Hawaiian Quesadilla, and we both ordered a glass of horchata, which came in a BIG mug. The food was incredible and did not take long to come out; the birria consumme was so good you could drink it, and the birria itself was perfectly tender. The Hawaiian Quesadilla was fully loaded with toppings and served with lettuce, sour cream, cheese and guac to dress each piece yourself. The horchata was amazing, too, and we both contemplated a second cup! We were too stuffed for dessert, but their flan is certainly on the menu for our next visit! Overall, will be visiting again, and would recommend this...
