Domo Japanese Sushi Grill and Bar — Restaurant in Stockton

Domo is a beautiful restaurant with high ceilings in Lincoln Center, Stockton, California. Nice ambiance. I didn't see any booths, just hard wooden chairs.

I came with my family, a party of 4. Although the restaurant was near empty after 5PM on a weekday, it took 10 minutes for us to be seated. We were about to walk out when the hostess finally seated us. A relative and I ordered beef teriyaki medium rare and both plates came out medium well. We didn't bring it to the attention of the server because she didn't stop by the table to check on us until we were halfway done with our entrees. She was waiting on a table directly across from us, but would turn away in an opposite direction so our table couldn't reach her. When she did this a second time, my cousin flagged her down. Like I wrote earlier, the restaurant wasn't busy during the early evening. Another relative found the chicken teriyaki to be dry. Umibido which are referred to as sea grapes are just seaweed.

Portions were small and the pricing high even with the happy hour discount. The teriyaki plates were $28. A similar dish would be $18 in high-priced Boston. Maybe Lincoln Center charges higher rents than downtown Boston.

One of my relatives ordered the ramen and it didn't taste good to him. It is possible the chef had an off day. Sauces and food presentation were lovely.

We ordered the DSS roll which is supposed to be a special roll with salmon eggs, salmon skin, avocado. Do you see salmon eggs in my photo? I don't. I see tobiko eggs. I just noticed this while writing this review because I looked up the description. The cost was $24.25. We were very confused because the actual seafood parts were minuscule, the roll itself was small and came with a substantial pile of salad greens as if the restaurant knew the roll was small and wanted to give value to the dish. I may report this restaurant to an agency that oversees them.

The bill came out to be nearly $150 before tip and that is after the Happy Hour (HH discount) which was 15%. We were pleasantly surprised by...

The worst customer service EVER!!!!! My family and I were celebrating my sister birthday and had a party of 15. Since our party was so big we sat at two grills and had a great dinner. We talked, laughed, and had a wonderful evening celebrating, UNTIL!!! we received our check and minutes later we asked to leave immediately because they needed to clean the table. The lady that came to our table was so rude! She asked that we leave because she needed to get the table ready for a reservation. Never at any restaurant have we been asked to leave after receiving the bill. As we were leaving we went up to the front desk to ask the name of the lady that told us to leave and were told, very rudely by a person named Brittany, that the person rushing us was the owner and we could not file a complaint. Brittany was upset after we told her we were going to leave a poor Yelp review and the another male employee approached and starting using profanity and told us to get out. This was so unbelievably to us that these employees were talking to us like this. Who would ever think that going to have a nice dinner out with family would end this way. As we were walking out into the parking lot security was approaching the restaurant and the employee that was using profanity pointed to us and said we were causing problems. We offered to talk to security to explain our experience and they were nice enough to give us a number where we can call to complain. They apologized for our ruined experience and we told them that we were ready to spread the word to everyone to NEVER come to this restaurant. On a better note our waitress and the grill cooks were fantastic and it's to bad they have to work under rude management. This is (was) my daughters favorite restaurant and we will not be returning.
