Born and raised in Stockton,! Just moved back from the Bay Area after 17 years. Attempted to meet up here with my sister. It was a rainy day and about seven tables and 15 chairs outside and completely empty inside. For whatever reason, they took every table and chair outside, so they don’t have to be bothered by any customers hanging out. When I walked in, I was flabbergasted by the horrible smell; While, there was a sign on the door saying only service animals allowed. It smelled like a kennel. Still, was going to order something & sit next-door at Starbucks with my sister. There was about 7 employees doing different things behind the register and one employee sitting down at the register. No one greeted me upon arrival, but that’s OK!! So….by this time my sister walks in. She has the same look on her face as how I was feeling about the establishment and the unwelcomeness of it. All of the asiago bagels looked almost burnt, and I asked the lady at the register if there were any in the back being freshly made, she didn’t answer the question, she just said there’s some there and pointed. I reiterated - asking what they had fresh in the back as I saw a rack behind her, she said there’s some in there and pointed! My sister and I walked out being extremely grossed out by everything. I don’t know if this is Stocktons new norm,, or just these particular people. I won’t be back, and that’s sad. Can I just say the service at Starbucks next-door was exquisite !!! my sister and I sat down and we’re brought our pastries and coffee to our table on glass dishes and we were greeted upon arrival, That alone set them apart. I guess that’s why they had hundreds of customers walk in and out while my sister and I sat there versus three or four that visited Noah’s. Noah’s should step their game up, this is Lincoln center, not...
Read moreMy wife and I were at St. Joseph's for a few days and decided to grab some breakfast. I looked up some local spots on DoorDash and found Noah's. The bagel sandwiches looked really good. I decided to order some bagel sandwiches for us, and placed an order for a baker's dozen for the nurses in the maternity ward. At first, I tried calling but realized I would have to order ahead online. After placing my order, I drove to the spot located in Lincoln Center. The area was bustling with people. There was various groups of people sitting outside the shop. This was a good sign to me that this place must be good. Went inside and my order was ready to go in the mobile order area. I had a slight mixup because I ordered two of the same cream cheese tubs when I meant to order two different kinds. I ended up purchasing a plain cheese cream tub in addition to the two onion and chives I had ordered with the baker's dozen. The lady at the register was very nice and gave me a small discount because of the confusion. She then made sure I had knives and napkins for my order, and handed me a few different flyers for their business. The bagel sandwiches were really good! I got the farmhouse sandwich which came with egg, cheese, bacon, and ham. My wife ordered the ham and Swiss with egg. The bagels were nice and soft and there was a generous portion of toppings on each sandwich. The nurses loved the bagels and thanked us for getting them. My full order for two sandwiches and 13 bagels with three tubs of cream cheese came out to less than $35! The cool thing about the baker's dozen is that you get a mix of their different flavors of bagels. The bagels were a hit and the customer service ensured that I would return the next time I need breakfast when I'm...
Read moreWhen I went to retrieve my order at Noah’s bagel last Tuesday, I went to the area of the counter where the orders were being kept. I attempted to ask the one person filling the shelf about my order. After no answer, I started reviewing the print outs on top of the orders, as I knew mine would be ready.
The woman who was filling the orders THEN noticed me and aggressively and loudly yelled at me: “Excuse me miss! That’s somebody’s order!” I told her firmly that it was MY order. I was embarrassed and mortified that I had been yelled at in such a manner. She could have easily said instead: “can I help you miss?” Instead, in a split second, she made assumptions about me and my intentions. I wonder how much some of this had to do with race.
She directed me to the counter, which I knew was unnecessary, because when I took the item to the counter the young woman at the counter didn't know why I was there (the order was pre-paid), she visibly shrugged, and she made up something on the spot which was for me to sign the order sheet (there was no place to sign). This was not part of the procedure, I could tell. Otherwise, she would've known precisely what to do.
If the issue is regarding a lack of staffing, then Noah's bagel needs to do better.
Because of this experience, I doubt that I will be ordering food from Noah’s bagel in the future. When I need to order, I’ll go to SF Boudin or Panera bread instead.
Edited to add: I agree with other reviewers. The customer service here...
