Review for Buttermilk CafĂ© â Stonecrest, GA
Itâs truly a sad day for me to have to write this review. As an African American, I always try to support Black-owned businesses, especially new ones in our community. But I also believe in keeping it real when it comes to service, food quality, and the overall dining experience. Unfortunately, my experiences with Buttermilk CafĂ© have left me deeply disappointedânot just once, not twice, but three times.
Today was supposed to be a special day as I was planning a celebration for my daughter, who is leaving the country, as well as honoring Herbert Bay. I was excited about ordering a large quantity of the cafĂ©âs biscuit bites, which are one of the best things on their menu. The day before, I called to inquire about placing an advance order. I was told I would need to call back the day of the event to order. Although inconvenient, I followed their instructions.
On the day of, I called to place the order and was told I had to come in person. After driving over, I was then told the kitchen might not have enough biscuit bites. This back-and-forth confusion, topped with being told âactually, we do have enoughâ after the fact, left me feeling frustrated and uneasy. I even asked to speak with the manager, hoping for understanding or a solution, but the lack of flexibility and inconsistent communication only added to my disappointment.
Customer service matters. When Iâve tried to give a business multiple chances and the same issues keep happening, it becomes clear that something needs to change. Buttermilk CafĂ© already has a low Google rating, and instead of raising the standard of service, experiences like mine only reinforce the problem.
I wanted this cafĂ© to succeed because our community needs it. But after three negative experiences, I can no longer recommend it. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and makes improvements, because the food has potentialâbut poor customer service...
Read moreI brought my bf here for a birthday brunch on 8/11 and the meal was amazing! He had the catfish and grits (they we're out of shrimp) I had the homestead skillet and we were both very impressed with our meal. We were greeted at the door by a young lady who was doing it all. Cleaning tables, greeting and seating customers, taking care of her own tables and bringing out food all with a smile.
Our waitress on the other hand must've been having a bad day. When she came to the table she hardly greeted us after we had already been waiting. Once she took our order, she placed the food on the table without a word, walked away and gave us no utensils to eat with. The young lady who greeted us at the door brought us silverware. Lastly, when she brought us the check, she grabbed both our plates and just walked off. We we're so taken that we just looked at eachother in astonishment. Half our food was still on both our plates so we thought maybe she went to put it in containers for us. This being our first time, we didn't know the standard practice of this restaurant but, when she didn't return, we quickly realized she took our food that we paid for and threw it away. If it weren't for this final thing I probably wouldn't have mentioned her at all but this was just too much.
Even though we received subpar service from our particular waitress, I believe this reflects this particular server. The establishment as a whole seems like it sets a great standard for food and service overall so its likely that she won't be there long if she keeps up that kind of behavior. Overall, we will visit again but will definitely ask for another server if we...
Read moreHurry up... and wait. That's what happened when my friend and I went to this establishment for the first time Labor Day weekend. We arrived around 11:15am on August 30th. We were seated after a few minutes. There were several people in the restaurant already seated. The hostess was very friendly and accommodating. We had a server come by shortly thereafter to bring water and take our order. After this interaction, the rest of the experience went downhill. After 45 MINUTES of waiting, i got the servers attention and asked what was happening. His reasoning was "they had door dash and online orders to fill. It took 1 HOUR for us to finally get part of our food. My friend was missing part of her meal. When she reminded the server, he said ok and never returned. No water refill, no do you need anything else, nothing. On top of this, another server who was delivering food to a table behind us, dropped syrup on the floor and it splashed on my friends pants! While they were apologetic, the damage of the experience was already done. There were also patrons who were sat before and behind us that left, or complained about the time it took after ordering food and drinks. Any savvy business person should know that when you have customers in front of you, they should be your primary focus. The bill came with no indication of a discount for the time it took to get our food, what was missed or the other servers mishap. To top this all off, they have placards on every table asking you to give them a 5 star review and you'll get 5 percent off your meal! Tax in DeKalb county is 8.5 percent. The math isn't mathing. We WILL NOT be...
