Visited here on September 16th for a birthday breakfast. The positive....Good location, very close to stonecrest mall and in the same plaza as Angie's place. Greeted when we came in and no problem with finding a seat. Server brought our menus over fairly quickly. My niece ordered the very berry french toast without the seasonal berries and a side of grits. My other niece ordered the morning dish breakfast without the seasonal berries and I ordered the Cajun shrimp and grits minus the cherry tomatoes with a side of white toast. My niece thoroughly enjoyed her grits, and her French toast. The shrimp and grits was decent. Additionally the server Trinity was very friendly. The negatives...... According to the menu the shrimp and grits was supposed to have peppers and onions, and there was none, as shown in the photo, not a lot of sauce on the grits. I prefer shrimp and grits with cheese grits but these were just white grits, so I asked for a cup of shredded cheese, and I never did receive the toast so it was taken off the final bill. My niece with the morning breakfast French toast had barely any powdered sugar on it, as you can see in the photo, so she did ask for more powdered sugar. Also the very berry French toast is supposed to be brioche bread but did not appear to be brioche, just seemed like a regular bread, and what you see in the picture on her plate is $15. And the lemonade very very sweet, overly sweet.

Seen this restaurant and came back to try it. The inside was underwhelming and for a brunch place on a Saturday, there were not many people. No wait, we were seated and server never cleaned the table as asked. The food portions were horrible, both of our entrees were $19. For the seafood basket, I should have gotten more than a handful of fries with 3 small catfish nuggets and 3 burnt shrimp. The chicken and waffles was a small portion as well, if I'm paying almost $20 I should get more than 4 kid sized waffles and 3 chicken wings. The grease was also old, you can tell by the outside of the food. The server only came twice after taking our order, once to bring the food and once after we were done. Did not get refills, had to request someone else to bring it and also had to ask for the biscuit that was supposed to come with the meal two different times before they brought it out. Very disappointed, was looking forward to trying a new brunch place nearby and it was horrible. Normally I do not write reviews ever, as this may actually be my first time, but I was excited to try this and it might be one of the worst brunch experiences I've ever had.

Review for Buttermilk CafĂ© – Stonecrest, GA

It’s truly a sad day for me to have to write this review. As an African American, I always try to support Black-owned businesses, especially new ones in our community. But I also believe in keeping it real when it comes to service, food quality, and the overall dining experience. Unfortunately, my experiences with Buttermilk CafĂ© have left me deeply disappointed—not just once, not twice, but three times.

Today was supposed to be a special day as I was planning a celebration for my daughter, who is leaving the country, as well as honoring Herbert Bay. I was excited about ordering a large quantity of the café’s biscuit bites, which are one of the best things on their menu. The day before, I called to inquire about placing an advance order. I was told I would need to call back the day of the event to order. Although inconvenient, I followed their instructions.

On the day of, I called to place the order and was told I had to come in person. After driving over, I was then told the kitchen might not have enough biscuit bites. This back-and-forth confusion, topped with being told “actually, we do have enough” after the fact, left me feeling frustrated and uneasy. I even asked to speak with the manager, hoping for understanding or a solution, but the lack of flexibility and inconsistent communication only added to my disappointment.

Customer service matters. When I’ve tried to give a business multiple chances and the same issues keep happening, it becomes clear that something needs to change. Buttermilk CafĂ© already has a low Google rating, and instead of raising the standard of service, experiences like mine only reinforce the problem.

I wanted this cafĂ© to succeed because our community needs it. But after three negative experiences, I can no longer recommend it. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and makes improvements, because the food has potential—but poor customer service...

I brought my bf here for a birthday brunch on 8/11 and the meal was amazing! He had the catfish and grits (they we're out of shrimp) I had the homestead skillet and we were both very impressed with our meal. We were greeted at the door by a young lady who was doing it all. Cleaning tables, greeting and seating customers, taking care of her own tables and bringing out food all with a smile.

Our waitress on the other hand must've been having a bad day. When she came to the table she hardly greeted us after we had already been waiting. Once she took our order, she placed the food on the table without a word, walked away and gave us no utensils to eat with. The young lady who greeted us at the door brought us silverware. Lastly, when she brought us the check, she grabbed both our plates and just walked off. We we're so taken that we just looked at eachother in astonishment. Half our food was still on both our plates so we thought maybe she went to put it in containers for us. This being our first time, we didn't know the standard practice of this restaurant but, when she didn't return, we quickly realized she took our food that we paid for and threw it away. If it weren't for this final thing I probably wouldn't have mentioned her at all but this was just too much.

Even though we received subpar service from our particular waitress, I believe this reflects this particular server. The establishment as a whole seems like it sets a great standard for food and service overall so its likely that she won't be there long if she keeps up that kind of behavior. Overall, we will visit again but will definitely ask for another server if we...

Hurry up... and wait. That's what happened when my friend and I went to this establishment for the first time Labor Day weekend. We arrived around 11:15am on August 30th. We were seated after a few minutes. There were several people in the restaurant already seated. The hostess was very friendly and accommodating. We had a server come by shortly thereafter to bring water and take our order. After this interaction, the rest of the experience went downhill. After 45 MINUTES of waiting, i got the servers attention and asked what was happening. His reasoning was "they had door dash and online orders to fill. It took 1 HOUR for us to finally get part of our food. My friend was missing part of her meal. When she reminded the server, he said ok and never returned. No water refill, no do you need anything else, nothing. On top of this, another server who was delivering food to a table behind us, dropped syrup on the floor and it splashed on my friends pants! While they were apologetic, the damage of the experience was already done. There were also patrons who were sat before and behind us that left, or complained about the time it took after ordering food and drinks. Any savvy business person should know that when you have customers in front of you, they should be your primary focus. The bill came with no indication of a discount for the time it took to get our food, what was missed or the other servers mishap. To top this all off, they have placards on every table asking you to give them a 5 star review and you'll get 5 percent off your meal! Tax in DeKalb county is 8.5 percent. The math isn't mathing. We WILL NOT be...
