My recent experience at SUBWAY® was extremely disappointing, and I cannot help but give them a one-star rating for their abysmal customer service and poor food quality.
Firstly, upon entering the restaurant at 6:03 PM, there was no greeting from any of the subway employees. Even when a black woman walked in at 6:05 PM, they still didn't bother to acknowledge her presence. This lack of basic courtesy was evident throughout my entire visit.
When it was time to place my order, the employee who was supposed to make my sandwich seemed disinterested and unengaged. He just stared at me with wide eyes, showing a complete lack of professionalism and attentiveness.
Throughout the transaction, there was no verbal response from the staff when I provided my order. Even a simple "thank you" from my end at the conclusion of the order did not elicit any response or acknowledgement from them, including the guy in the red polo shirt, who I assumed was in a managerial position. He simply picked up my sandwiches from the counter, muttered "is that it," and walked away without a word.
But the disappointment did not end there. I had ordered three sandwiches in total from this location, with the first order placed online for two foot-long sandwiches. The quality of both orders was appalling. Despite specifically asking for additional marinara sauce, my foot-long marinara sandwich had no extra sauce at all. To make matters worse, it was soggy and not toasted as requested. This was particularly baffling since I arrived for pick-up at 6:03 PM, before the pick-up time of 6:10 PM. How could the sandwich already be soggy and lacking the extra sauce?
I have to mention that the toaster used for the sandwiches seemed defective, as even the ones I asked to be toasted were not properly done.
Furthermore, the ordeal with my online order added insult to injury. When I arrived at the restaurant to pick up my mobile order, the three-person staff, including the individual whom I believe was the management or franchise owner, decided to give me a hard time about the lack of a name on my order. I explained that my receipt for the mobile order did not display any name; instead, it provided an order number, which I had provided to them. Despite this, they insisted on creating unnecessary complications.
To my surprise, I had received no email or instructions through the app notifying me that a name was required for the order. I was left feeling frustrated and perplexed as to why they were making such a fuss about it, especially when the order number should have been sufficient for identification.
The way they handled this situation was highly unprofessional and caused unnecessary delays in receiving my already poorly prepared sandwiches. It was evident that the staff's lack of training and communication extended to the management level, as the franchise owner displayed no better understanding of customer service.
All in all, my experience at this SUBWAY® location was a total letdown. From the lack of greetings, unresponsive and inattentive staff during the order, to the poor food quality and the ridiculous insistence on a name for my online order despite providing an order number, I cannot fathom a reason to recommend this place to anyone. Today was the first time I ordered from this particular location on the app. Got a voicemail saying they didn't have any spinach wraps for my rotisserie chicken wrap and I called back right away to just have it removed from my order just for them to say well we already made it with the tomato basil wrap. Pretty irritated at this point but whatever ,maybe it won't be too bad. then they tell me I need to show my ID and my credit card when I pick up my order .Since when? I ordered from the subway on flat shoals road for years and that's the hood and never ever had to do this. Super inconvenient. I asked why and they went on and on about theft and some other foolishness. Won't be going back there ever . Then I get home and open my sub since I got a sub and a wrap. But the service was horrendous.
It was just one employee in particular. She didn't smile, was very unpleasant, and responded rudely to even the most basic questions.
For example, when she asked what kind of bread, I said the Artisan Italian.
She made a sour face and responded "What?? What's that??"
I said "it's written on your choice of bread sign right here in front of you. Never mind. The white bread please."
She had an ugly attitude the entire time and rushed us.
Employees should at least know the names of the menu items they serve.
Then when I asked her for a cup holder 3 times, she just stood there staring at me and ignoring my request.
The young teenager boy who was already busy doing vegetables and the cash register stopped what he was doing and gave it to me
He was polite and nice
She should not be in the guest service industry in my opinion
