Today was either the 12th or 13th time I’ve had a meal at Agape. The data is in… and here is my take on the cafe with love in the name and quality on the menu.
Atmosphere: Overall it is a fantastic atmosphere. The decor is simplistic with tranquility as its main objective. The monochromatic pallet is complimented by accents of metallic gold, silver, and/or wood. Soft lighting brings an additional, positive mood to the atmosphere. Some days it is rather busy at breakfast or later dinner hours. These busy days bring some higher decibels and a lot of elbow rubbing, but the staff always seems to neutralize the chaos.
Food: Wow. Where to start.
The Sweet & Spicy burger is my go-to. A mixture of candied bacon, garden greens, smoked cheese & a sweet sauce with a hint of spice rest on a generous, hand made Angus beef patty beneath what I believe to be an Aioli sauce spread on a brioche bun. It is not very spicy at all and all of the flavor profiles work together to make a delicious harmony.
I grew up in Maryland, worked at a seafood restaurant/shop and am an avid fishermen. Nothing beats a crab cake from Maryland, but as far as Amish country goes… get the crab cake. It’s. AMAZING.
Pulled pork sandwich is, in my opinion, the BEST in the area. Smokey flavoring with an excellent in house BBQ sauce and juicy in through out every bite. The brisket was great, but came out slightly dry on that day. Fish and chips platter is a delicious option as well. The salads are yet another example of flavor profiles coming together for a concert. Agape has impeccable execution of flavor blends.
The deserts are very good as well. Macarons are sourced by one of my favorite bakers in the county. Several other options are make in house. The coffee is superb. Thoroughly enjoy the coffee for its high quality, rich flavor profile and proper brewing. Spritzers are a pleasant drink option. Quality is stressed and today I even observed the butter, for the dinner rolls, as being AA quality (common in restaurants, but you get the joke haha) High quality ingredients go far.
Service: Our waitresses have always been polite, courteous and respectful. Many of them display a sweet demeanor and energetic work ethic. Our daughter is always acknowledged by staff and they quickly get her a high chair. The young men on the staff are promptly clearing tabla of plates or sweeping up. Whenever I require an item or a mistake is made the staff are understanding and tactful. I remember several encounters with staff that make me feel valued as a customer.
Overall: There’s a reason this is my wife’s favorite restaurant and why I have come here over 12 times this year. I would highly recommend Agape to locals and...

Read moreMy experience at Agapē was decent. I would recommend calling in for seating 30-60 minutes prior to arriving as they do get busy. They do not accept reservations and be prepared to wait if you have a large party. The atmosphere is light and friendly. Our server was sweet, but she never introduced herself. I would give her a shoutout, but I don’t know her name. She was very accommodating to my family and I. The menu has a wide selection of foods and drinks that look and sound very appetizing, unfortunately the food here is just alright. I ordered the peaches French toast and my father ordered the brisket burger and my mother had sausage and gravy. The burger was over done. My dad will only eat meat if it’s medium rare and our server told us that she specifically told the kitchen that, but her cooks don’t really take “requests” for meat temp. Is that your way of saying your cooks don’t know how to cook medium rare? It honestly doesn’t matter because even if the burger came out medium rare my dad would’ve still sent it back to the kitchen because the flavor was horrendous. It tasted old and tangy, like it was left out. I didn’t want him to eat it so instead we ordered the haystack with cream beef. I enjoyed this dish the most out of anything. I think the flavors went well together and the portion was nice. My mom’s sausage and gravy was flavorless, my server had actually warned me that it wasn’t the best tasting which I appreciate her input, but my mom still wanted to try it. I’m glad she gets impressed easily because I don’t. My French toast was smaller than what I remembered from ordering it last time I came. I think if you’re torn between getting peaches, apple, or blueberry, get apple. That tastes the best. It was good but not the greatest French toast I’ve ever had. Their bacon is awesome!! I loved their bacon a lot because it was perfect consistency and taste. The most annoying part of Agapē is the damn flies! I understand they are in Amish country and have farmland right next to it, but Jesus I had 3 of those bugs at my table and they just wouldn’t leave us alone! They have a cute coffee stand that has very kind girls up front, but I did see a couple of people wait a while for their coffees. The overpriced furniture/jewelry shop in the restaurant towards the right is pretty cool, but I wouldn’t dream of buying things there. This is a good...
