I booked last minute with a friend. I debated between here and an Air BnB. The Hershey Farm Inn was a splurge price wise ($176 for one night) but it had an outdoor pool and it was going to be another hot day so I decided to go for the pool over the Air BnB place.

I’d be interested to see what it’s like fully rebuilt like it used to be. I know how horrible having part of a business burn down must be. I know they have to make money to rebuild but $176 is pricey for a hotel room in my opinion. I only chose to splurge because of the experience I expected I’d have there based on what I saw online. It was disappointing, a waste of money, and I wouldn’t come back.

Looking back at my experience I should have booked the Air BnB… I drove 4 hours, checked in at 10pm, found my room on the back side of the carriage house. I walk up and there were people on the bench outside my room smoking pot. I go into the room and am pleasantly surprised at how nice it looks but it seemed smaller than the room pictured. All of the pictures online and in their website make it look like the cutest place to stay.

I go to bed and the bed is ok. I wake up at like 6am. I go for a walk around the property to check it out. I didn’t know there had been a fire so it’s not what it appears to be online, mounds of dirt and construction under way to rebuild. It wasn’t very scenic or relaxing but I made the best of it. I mean it had an outdoor pool I could enjoy right?!

I strolled by on my morning walk and the pool is padlocked so it can’t be used from 10pm-9am. So I grabbed tea in the lobby and went back to my room to waste time and wait until my friend woke up and it was 9am so I could swim. I put my bathing suit on and a sundress and go over to the pool. The padlock is unlocked and there is a staff member with a water testing kit taking a sample. I enter and he starts talking to me. Tells me they’re about to treat the pool but he’ll talk to his supervisor maybe they can wait. He also asked if it was the only day I was staying and I said yes, I live 4 hours away, check out today, and was hoping to swim, it’s why I booked the hotel room. The pool should have been tested and treated overnight when nobody was in it. It didn’t seem like he was going to hurry and talk to his supervisor or allow me to swim in peace alone, so I told him if I couldn’t swim I guess I’d go back to my room and shower. I get back to my room, turn on the shower and the drain doesn’t even drain the water, it’s partially clogged. So I took a shower in a puddle of soapy water. There’s no conditioner, apparently they don’t give out conditioner, even a $60/night Red Roof Inn gives their guest’s conditioner. It was a spare of the moment trip so I didn’t pack my toiletries like I normally would. Then I headed over to breakfast. It was a selection of normal continental food like cereal, yogurt, bagels, etc and warm items like scrambled eggs, chipped beef with biscuits and other stuff that didn’t interest me. I ordered an omelette with my breakfast voucher. Ham. Sausage, cheddar cheese, peppers and onions. It lacked flavor and was weirdly gooey, I wasn’t sure if it was the egg not fully cooked or just too much cheese used. I ate it and had a glass of water. Not impressed by the breakfast.

I then checked out and mentioned my disappointment at the pool being closed and the shower drain issue. The front desk clerk offered me a free smoothy, ice cream, or animal feed ($1)…after the quality of the breakfast I had I didn’t want a smoothy or ice cream I mean it’s breakfast. I certainly didn’t want to feed the animals, I wanted to get out of that place ASAP. I’d rather had a discount on my room at that price. Not to mention the walls in the room are thin. From 6am on I heard all sorts of people talking. Someone was likely trying not to wake up someone in their room by making a phone call outside on the bench outside my room. You could hear the phone ringing and hear them talk. Not long after housekeeping stood around outside the doors talking for quite some time. Overall not a...

My wife and I and my friend and his girlfriend stayed there from July 13,2025 until July 16,2025. When booking our stay I was told that they only had a room with a balcony for the first two nights and then we would have to switch rooms to a room without a balcony and they had no more rooms with king beds and we’d be getting a room with 2 queen beds which I said no problem. I have been staying there for 20 plus years and I have always written excellent reviews. Also I was told that I would receive a 15% discount on both rooms. When we arrived I was told check in time is 3:00 and I explained to the girl at the front desk I was always given the courtesy of checking in early if the room was ready. At this point I contacted the manager/ part owner Ryan Zieger and he said he would text the manager of housekeeping and let her know. We went to brunch then went to the store and when we returned my room was ready and the second room wasn’t so we went and sat by the pool and Ryan texted me saying the other room was ready. We went to the front desk and we were told she didn’t get clearance to check us in. Now I started getting upset when Ryan called me and the front desk knew he was on the phone with me all of a sudden the room was ready. Next after our second night there we were moving our things to the new room and when we walked in the beds were double beds not queen even though Ryan said they were queens. That night there was not enough room for my wife and I to sleep together my friends were in the same boat as us now my friends have a queen bed at home but couldn’t fit on this bed together. Also they didn’t tell us we were getting adjoining rooms until that morning. Now the morning we were leaving I said to everyone let’s load the car go eat breakfast then we will go back to the room and take everything that was left in the refrigerator. Upon getting to our rooms our keys were not working and my friends room was already cleaned and they threw all of our food out. Check out time is 11:00 AM we were back at the room at 10AM I asked the housekeeper who checked us out and why did you throw our food out and she lied to me saying she didn’t throw anything out. Usually I always go to the front desk to check out and say goodbye however I was so upset we just told the housekeeper we were leaving. After leaving I did text and called Ryan however he never answered me so I called the manager of the restaurant and she spoke to him and he called me. He said I made the housekeeper cry which is not true I have always treated housekeeping very good even though they don’t clean rooms every day of the stay I still tipped them as if they did. Then he said I make the front desk staff very nervous and they are on pins and needles whenever I stay there which I find hard to believe as I would always bring the front desk staff ice cream whenever I stayed there. Last I was told I got a 15% discount which is another lie as I looked up the rates for the same days all summer long and they are set prices. At this point Ryan basically said I am not welcome there anymore his wording was he thinks it’s best to end our business relationship. The restaurant is excellent but I feel the bigger Ryan is getting the less he cares about long time guests it’s a shame I will miss the place I have brought my children there from when they were very young brought my mother there god rest her soul and I recommended so many people there this all...

I been coming to this motel since the early 2000s! My family over the years have enjoyed the Amish experience, the country air, when it isn't planting season lol, the shopping and The Sights and Sounds Theatre. This is the best place for the Sights and Sounds Theatre. They have a walking path so you don't have to drive. It's very beautiful especially during the spring and summer. The property is on a large farmland with a few barn animals for the children to view. The place was renovated and it's esthetically pleasing very clean. Would I call it a resort? Not really, but it has two restaurants, an outdoor pool, a shop and a bakery. I found the baked good choices have lessened. I have only stayed at the main house. The king bed room I was in was renovated. The room had a wood floor, no carpeting. Love that! The space seems smaller because the bathroom was expanded. It's has a nice shower with a large over head sprinkler and a hand held. It looks great, but they don't have a dresser for your clothes! The vanity in the bathroom has some odd draw cubicle space. It has two sinks which is nice. They have a barn style closet by the back wall on the side of the bed that was practically useless. You can put a few items on a hanger. The other side had a large open space with maybe 3 small shelves below. The side tables are small tables with no storage space! There is a desk below the tv where a dresser should have been. They have a nook with a microwave and a refrigerator, coffee maker, a small sofa I used for my clothes. They have a balcony space, two chairs overlooking pool side. Pool season, it's probably noisy. We had to ask for an ironing board and iron. They need a full length mirror. Personally I didn't like the barn door for the bathroom. You can hear and even see at the edge of the door! So I put on the tv for privacy. lol They didn't provide you with complementary water. I remember them leaving small whoopie pie treats. We didn't receive that. I didn't allow for maid service so I don't know if they provided any. I think they left candy treats. I was only there for two nights. It's good for a weekend, but no more than that. The guest doors on my floor made so much noise as they shut. The hall noise was odd, It felt as if people were trying to come into the room. The door had a double lock and a bracket so you cannot push into the room from the outside as a safety feature. The restaurant was renovated. It looks fantastic, but the food was not really good. They had a grill to order extras. Be careful, they brought over an extra soft drink I didn't ask for. They charged me. No free refills. We went for breakfast, which was included and for dinner at a discount because made the reservation through the motel. Make sure you check your bill. They didn't add the discount. It was expensive and the choices for a buffet in the middle of Amish country was disappointing. We went to the Sunday brunch. That was the best option for a day to dine. They had more choices and in my opinion, all those choices should be available for their buffet dinner because of the price you pay. The cafe is new but I didn't buy anything there. The motel staff is very friendly and polite. I'll come again only for the the convenience of the sights and sounds...
