On my continuing quest to try new restaurants in the area, for fathers day this year we decided to both try a location we have not had nor my father. I had heard stuff the likes of legend on the various review sites about how good Culver's is (especially regarding their frozen custard) so we had to give it a try.
We arrived at the location a little past 3pm and it was mostly empty save for a handful of tables here and there. Having never been, it took our party of 7 a bit of time to digest the menu and the for each person to order. The staff was very patient and answered questions some folks had about what does or does not come on various menu items and what sides are part of what combo.
Food ordered for dine in, we were given a table number sign and went off in search of a seat. Thankfully there was an available table that could accommodate our large party with no issue and without splitting us up.
Food arrived quickly given how much we had ordered and the variety in what was ordered. Everyone's ordered arrived properly with no issues or missing menu items.
General consensus across the party was the food was very solid to pretty good across the board. The only outlier was the patty melt, which I was told was "average" at best.
I ordered the strawberry fields salad with chicken, the Wisconsin cheese curds, and the pretzel bites as sharable items. Cheese curds were good and we're elevated to excellent when paired with the cheese dipping sauce from the pretzel. The salad was a good portion size for a fast casual style facility and the chicken was cooked well without being dry.
For dessert, we all sampled various varieties of the ice cream offerings. I ordered a two scoop, chocolate cup with banana and strawberry topping. Banana was fresh and the strawberry mix (syrup+chunks) was good if not a little too sweet. The actual chocolate custard ice cream was excellent. Has a soft serve like consistency but hard enough to scoop easily.
Would visit the restaurant again just to try out several of the other options (like the soups/chili, other sides, sandwiches) for the price and speed, step up from the likes of normal fast food like McDonald's or...
Read moreThey don't serve Coca-Cola! This is a major deal breaker!😠 The rest of the reviews are employees making them not real customers of Culver's in Strongsville. Mainly because normal people don't talk like the way they leave the reviews- dead giveaway. I can tell a sales pitch from a real customer review and so can others.
One annoying thing is that Culver's serves the "red onions" on their burgers. Red onions are cheap and designed for businessess on a frugal budget. They are real acidy and most of the time upset your stomach and bloat you. They don't serve sweet white vadalia onions that make the burger taste good and sets off the flavor. Probably cause they think it cost too much.
The prices are kind of high for boxed mashed potatoes and a bag of frozen broccoli that you could buy at Save-A-Lot and cook at home for $5.00 for the whole month. Whole month being the key word. So really the food here isn't anything special. It's basically a reheated TV dinner that the customer couldn't cook at home cause they're lazy and wouldn't go get groceries. When I'm paying these prices I think the food should be fresh not frozen or preprocessed. The burgers are greasy here...and smashed down really flat..Mcdonald's is better for fast food. I can reheat a dinner from the freezer at home. I rarely eat out by the way...when I do I want something fresh and something that no one else is doing that I can't do at...
Read moreIf you've never heard of Culver's, they are a national fast-casual restaurant chain, that focuses on their trademarked "ButterBurgers", Frozen Custard and Excellent Service. Their burgers and other food are definitely a step up from the likes of Steak 'n Shake in my opinion, plus they have Frozen Custard as well which is a huge plus! For me personally, I will usually stop by Culver's 2 times a week (sometimes more) to get a Concrete (Frozen Custard mixed with your choice of add-ins, similar to a Blizzard or McFlurry, but 100 times better because it's real Frozen Custard with fresh ingredients for you to choose to add in). And even though the Custard and food are good enough to always keep me coming back, it's truly the Culver's Team Members and Management at my local Culver's (Strongsville, Ohio location) that keep me coming back because they all are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! They all know my usual order (Large Concrete made with Vanilla Custard and then I add in Fresh Banana and Strawberries, topped with whipped cream) and even though it's always busy there, I never have to wait long at all. Give them a try today! (And wow, I actually just googled how many locations Culver's has and there are 899 Locations in 26 States!) Oh yeah, they also have a GREAT FISH sandwich too! And it's actually a real piece of fish, and it's huge and...
