My husband is a chef, so Iām what some may call⦠a food snob. When he told me about this place, he sent photos and brought no leftovers home. Letās just say that it has caused a bit of strain in our otherwise lovely marriage over the past few weeks.
After attending a wedding last night (which my husband catered), we woke up ravenous because our stomachs wanted MORE good food. The hour we gained from daylight savings being restored helped us get some much needed rest, and my husband decided to make up for his oversight by taking me and our son to Metro after church today. No pressure, but we definitely needed this meal to go well.
Metro definitely understood the assignment. Friendly and personalized service, fast, hot, and memorable food, served in a dope atmosphere? Letās just say that this food snob was effectively humbled. Hubby had the chicken and waffles with strawberry butter, I went with the fried chicken Benedict and a mimosa, and our eldest son had the bacon cheeseburger with home fries. This review basically wrote itself, as the quality of our dining experience was measured by the empty plates and satisfied smiles all around our table when my husband paid the tab. To be honest, I donāt even know what the total was, but it doesnāt even matter becauseā no matter whatā it was worth it.
EDIT: My husband said it was reasonably priced (affordable), especially for the amount and quality of the food, the diverse menu, the stellar service from Taylor, and the chill vibe/ ambiance of the diner! My faith in marriage is renewed! NOTE: please read this review with ALL the ironyā I love my husband, and, although āhangerā is a very real thing, at no point in time was our marriage at risk. š In all sincerity, though, a good meal IS nourishment to the soul. The chef and staff at Metro Diner are phenomenal at what they do. Eat...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe went to Metro Diner (MD) on March 15, 2025. Initially, we were seated but not attended to. There was some confusion as to who would service our table. After about 15 mins someone came and assisted us...then it was smooth sailing. Everyone was adorned with some sort of St. Patrick's Day accessory and we could see the teamwork! Jordan was our waitress and was amazing! Although someone else took our order, Jordan took over like a rock star! She was friendly, attentive, kind, and knowledgeable.
Food: Some of the food was okay and some was great! Appetizer-Onion rings: cold, no salt, but fried well. I think it was a timing issue. I'm sure they would've been good hot. Recommendation: time cooking better so that everything comes out hot OR bring it out hot and let the guests know that the other items are on the way.
Appetizer-Cheese fries: piping hot and delicious! Only issue is that there wasn't really any bacon. Recommendation: add more bacon.
Entree (hubby)- Meatloaf plate with mashed potatoes, green beans, and a biscuit (was ok, nothing special). Overall tasty. Needed a little more seasoning. My hubby said he'd order it again. Recommendation: serve hot rolls with the meatloaf entree.
Entree (me)- Chicken (dark meat) and waffles (carrot cake). This entire meal.... 10/10! I surprised myself! The chicken was clean, seasoned well, fried well, and tasty!! Kudos to the chef!!! I will be ordering this again! Recommendation: NONE!!
In addition, the sweet tea was just right, the bathrooms were clean, and the energy in the restaurant was positive!
Thank to Jordan and to the manager! Iām from NY and love a good diner. We highly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy familyās experience yesterday was just bad all around. I hate writing bad reviews but jeez this place was rough, particularly the food. My wife had a breakfast bowl that was supposed to come with roasted tomatoes, which it did not. When she asked the waitress if it was supposed to have tomatoes she said she had no idea then asked my wife if she wanted tomatoes, which she did. So she left and came back with three ice cold grape tomatoes rolling around on a plate. So that was just annoying all around. Then her bowl was like barely half full, bacon was burnt, and had multiple egg shells in it. I had the cinnamon roll pancakes and they werenāt bad but the pancakes were full of holes and tunnels for some reason probably excess moisture which makes it very rubbery. I had a side of scrambled eggs but those were either from a bag, or were steamed or something Iāve never gotten scrambled eggs that looked like that before. It was like a block of plastic looking eggs. My son liked his breakfast bowl but when he tried to put salt on it nothing came out and he took the lid off and it was full of rust and moisture. My daughter had the fruit waffle which she pretended to enjoy but I could tell she was picking at it and she said the blueberries inside tasted off. They were like black and obviously not fresh. All these issues are like signs of serious dysfunction in the kitchen and management, a staff not cleaning, being trained, and an expeditor who...
