My wife and I recently moved to Suffolk specifically the Harborview area. We'vebeen exploring various resturants and wanted to try some place different for her birthday today. After reading the reviews we decided to give Rajput a try. I've been to a few Indian resturants and had some expectations before I arrived. My wife and I waited for about 5 minutes before anyone even aknowledged we were there. About 7 tables were seated. A rather embarassed host asked us to wait while he cleaned a table for us. I noticed that there were plenty of empty tables. My wife went to the restroom. In the mean time servers passed me without so much as an excuse me, hello, or anything that would make me feel even remotely welcome. Once seated our server was quick to take our drink orders. I ordered sweetened ice tea which tasted like syrup from a machine, my wife ordered a mix drink. She explained that the women's room wasn't being cleaned that there was dried poop splattered and crusted in one of the toilet bowels. I looked at the menu very confused about what I was ordering and even more confused by what I got. Our order took a while, however my wife and I just enjoyed each other's company. Our food was served at room temperature. I ordered a Rajput combination plate that included lamb curry, rice, bread, house salad, and rice pudding. What was brought to me was a metallic tray that looks like something they serve food to prisoners in jail on. A scoop of cold curry in one part of the tray, 4 cubes of dry lamb meat in a sauce in another part, a few pieces of vegitables in another section, a lot of rice covered with pita bread (the same as what we got as an appitizer, and a scoop of what I thought was ranch dressing. Upon further inspection the scoop of what I thought was ranch dressing was a soupy version of their rice pudding. Honestly milk has a thicker consistency. The pudding was too sweat the food ovef all pretty bland. My wife got some kind of shrimp medley which consisted of room temperature shrimp 6 pieces, a lot of brocolli and rice with a sauce she complained tasted like tomato paste. I tried one of her shrip and wasn't impressed. Overall I did not feel welcome at this resturant, I do not think our server ever bothered to ask how we are doing, or how we were enjoying the food, maybe because he was afraid of what we might say. He was pretty good about making sure our water stayed topped off. We spent about $80.00 total, which is pretty normal for a 2 person date. Would I say my experience was worth what I spent? Absolutely not. I generally don't complain about resturants, and this is probably my firsf time ever writting a bad review for any resturant. I honestly couldn't get out of that resturant fast enough. Horrible food, very uncomfortable...
Ā Ā Ā Read more6 STARS!! First let me say the Food was delicious and a nice ambiance experience - all in itself. Then added with the outstanding customer service made it a delightful evening. Everything was so tasty and seasoned to Perfection! The assorted basket of Naan bread was hot and so flavorful. Rajput Indian Cuisine Suffolk is now my new Fave for MORE REASONS than one! I also tried a Vegetarian dish and was stunned at how delicious and flavorful it was too...luv'd it! Customer service UNMATCHED!!!
And here's why I say that. 45 minutes later, I returned thinking I had left my cell there and the two Waiters which I later found out were Family and Managers including the Kitchen Crew helped looked hit and low to find it numerous times even going through all the laundry of cloth napkins. Lucky for me I have a Smart Watch and could look up numbers. So after all that he (BASIL) allowed me to call my friend who had met me there to see if my friend grabbed it. Friend then informed me I had placed my cell on my car while we were talking in the parking lot. This Waiter/Owner Manager THEN took it upon himself with his cell flashlight to walk the lot all the way to the streetlight looking for and with me so I - a Lady wouldn't be walking by myself in the dark...How special was that! No luck locating it with his constantly dialing and me trying to connect with my watch.
He THEN offered to follow me in my car, ride with me or him - whatever I was comfortable with and back track to look for my cell...Constantly and adamantly verbally saying out loud - "WE are going to find your phone." So, we walked back to the Restaurant to now drive looking for it...which he said - "Give me a few minutes to go let them know and to also verbally apologize to my customers." After ALL THIS - He was MINDFUL to even STILL courtesy offer me water and sweet tea. Well Lo and behold about a mile drive or so later in the dark - He spotted it on the side of the street! Yeayyy! With only protective case corner broken and glass screen with one crack. Boy was I lucky to have dined here at Rajput Cuisine Restaurant with such honest, compassionate, caring and SELFLESS people!! As they say in the Military, going above and beyond!

Ā Ā Ā Read more::NEW LOCATION:: We love going to Rajput and their nee location is really nice. We came on a Friday at 6:30. Nice atmosphere with the music, and it's a good volume because we were a group of 6 and could all hear each other just fine. The restaurant is right in between 2 other great restaurants.
Service Our waitress was very helpful in helping us pick something new and it was delicious. All the staff was very friendly. Our waitress and someone else checked in with us to make sure we everything was good. One of our plates was missing and he quickly went to the kitchen and got it.
Food We're always happy with our choices. I had the Chicken Tikka Misala level 2 (medium) heat/spicy, so good. We ordered basket if the Naan variety for the table, those are delicious too. We also ordered an extra bowl of rice. We ordered Biryani with potato. It was delicious! The spices were so good. It was level 2 so not too spicy. It looked like a pot pie, because they bake a bread layer over it. Inside was rice with whatever you pick, could be a protien or vegetable. I could've gotten better photos, but everything was so good we ate it so quickly. This isn't fast food, so it takes little while like any restaurant cooking to your order.
Parking There's plenty of parking, just the front area is small. The side of the building has plenty more. There's 3 restaurants in that short strip so that front parking gets full quick.
Groups We had a group of 6, that doesn't seem too big to me, but the chairs and tables can move. There's also some booth tables available. They've always been very hospitable to us. They were easily able to give us all individual checks and we paid at the table. Your receipt can be printed receipt, emailed or texted to you. The tables are little narrow so ours got really crowded, but thats not a too big a deal. We just were careful not to knock something off. But that's also expected with a group of 6.
More There is a small bar, but I've never ordered drinks here before. There's wine available too. They also had a TV playing sports, but it was muted. There's a separate room for private events. They serve a buffet during lunch. Take out is...
