We used to love coming here when we lived in the area years ago, so we were looking forward to coming again. It used to be our go-to birthday spot for years.
Unfortunately, so much has changed since our last visit.
First, the food - We always get hibachi, which used to come with soup and salad. Now you choose one or the other. They're small bowls, so I don't understand the change. The sauce they used to serve for the steak has changed. It used to be a brown ginger sauce. Now it's a weird, creamy sauce. So, two creamy sauce options. The rest of the food hasn't changed much and the portions are big.
Now the service - part of hibachi is the dinner show. We don't really care about the show because we've seen the same routine so many times, but the chef put ZERO effort in disguising his lack of enthusiasm. Not only did he not do anything other thing light the onions on fire, while he was cooking and moving the food around with the utensils, he made a point to make noises like "ah," "yay," etc., but in the most monotone, irritated tone. I get it. It's the same routine over and over, but that is part of the deal with hibachi. You're paying for the food and the experience. If the same routine is tired, change it up. Get creative. At the very least, don't act like you hate your job. Fake it if you need to, or find something else to do. There are still people who enjoy the show or have never seen it.
Lastly - MONEY. Gratuity at 18% is now automatically added to your bill, whether you are a party of 1 or 10. Doesn't matter. So the waitstaff and chef no longer need to provide a service to earn the tip, they can not check on you at all the entire meal and act like they hate their job and they will still get at least 18%. The food isn't cheap, so that's a hefty tip for someone who was miserable. Also, they used to serve the sake in the bottle, and they'd give you a cup of two to serve it. Now you get a champagne flute of sake and no bottle. So you're getting less for more $$$.
I understand inflation has caused a lot of places to charge more, but this is ridiculous. They increased their prices exponentially and sacrificed quality and service. For that reason alone, I don't think we'll...
Read moreThis review is based solely on customer service and not their food. DO NOT PAY ONLINE! WAIT UNTIL YOU HAVE CHECKED THE CONTENTS OF YOUR TOGO BAG TO PAY. OTHERWISE, THEY WILL NOT REFUND YOUR MONEY BECAUSE THEY HAVE ALREADY MADE THE FOOD, REGARDLESS OF YOUR SATISFACTION. The food tasted great. I ordered Togo 12/4/22 during their dinner hours. I ordered hibachi steak, fried rice (veggies comes with it), and I added an extra fried rice, and I asked for extra zucchini. I ordered the exact same Togo meal for lunch a week ago and my meal came as expected. If you dine-in your hibachi comes with your choice of protein, and the option for fried rice (comes with mixed veggies), and salad or soup. I only wanted the zucchini instead of all the other veggies and was repeatedly told that the rice doesn’t come with veggies and if I wanted veggies I would need to order an entree of fried rice and not as an extra side OR order veggies $5.06 extra charge. I had the hardest time understanding, why the veggies option was not available in my togo dinner. When I ordered my meal togo for lunch, my rice came with veggies. When I dined-in at the restaurant, my fried rice had veggies. BUT something mysteriously happens to the veggies when you expect them to come with your togo dinner. WHERE IN THE HIBACHI BYLAWS DOES IT SAY NO VEGGIES WHEN ORDERING TOGO? Also, just in case you’re not familiar with their dinner options, you get extra food: noodles, two shrimp, and then whatever else you ordered. So not only did I get extra food I didn’t want, I’m paying above market price for zucchini. I wanted to give back their extra container of zucchini, you may recall me saying it cost an additional $5.06, and the staff refused to give me a refund. I was still inside of their establishment with the bag of food and the staff refused to give me a refund and wouldn’t take the extra zucchini back in a closed container. Their justification was the food was already made and they tried explaining to me multiple times that veggies do not come with fried rice. After that experience, I will just drive a little further to another hibachi restaurant and get my veggies...
Read moreFor starters this place needs a 0 not a Star. They don't deserve 1 star. Tonight the bartender was very rude. She didn't acknowledge my daughter and I as we sat at the bar for 10 minutes. She never came over to serve us. I got up and walked to the other side of the bar and asked her was she serving drinks & taking orders she replied back. You see me making drinks now!? With sarcasm. I went back to my seat at the bar. There was BLACK MALE on my left he also stated it took a while before they served him. I've waited 10 more minutes which she still didn't introduce herself or ask did I need a menu. She continued to ignored us as if we didn't exist. Then another lady approached the bar cleaning glasses. In the mist of me waiting 3 Caucasians sat down and was served and I asked for a menu it was difficult getting a menu. I got up and went to the hostess and ask for a manager she did absolutely nothing but stated she'll talk to her. It's sad that these places will keep someone so rude and filled with hate. I hate to write this post on such a beautiful establishment Obviously, she has an issue with black people. One bad apple will spoil the bunch!. Good Luck to those who eat there hopefully you're treated well when...
