This is where the old adobe was and the patio on the lake dining atmosphere is worth going even if the experience sucks. I probably will go back but there were good and bad things about this spot. I’d actually give it 3.5 stars if possible. I had called earlier in the day to reserve seating on the patio early Friday evening (like 5:45). When we got there, the guy I spoke to didn’t actually reserve our spot but luckily there was a table available anyway. There was one waitress most of the time for the entire back patio (which was packed and had parties of 10 or more). She was nice enough but we basically didn’t see her after we ordered and to beg for the check. No drink refills the entire time…and we were there forever. It took us about an hour to get the check and get boxes after we finished eating. That was pretty ridiculous. Ambience: the interior looked nice but it’s all about the patio overlooking the lake. Love that! There was a mariachi band playing. Other reviewers found it too loud and annoying. I thought it was cool and they moved around and even played inside too so it wasn’t too distracting. Food and drinks: Drinks were actually really really good! I’d go back just to sit outside with some queso and watermelon Rita’s. The queso was good and tasted more authentic than most Tex mex places. My husband and son Shared the big fajita plate with quesadillas and octopus. The octopus was cooked and seasoned well but the fajita meat was meh…bad cuts of meats, fatty, and not flavored well. I had the seafood enchiladas with Louisiana sauce (forgot the name). The crawfish in the sauce was a good touch but the sauce itself was so bland. I ordered extra avocado which probably should have come with it to make it taste a little better. For whatever reason mine came with fried rice. It was terrible…but the refried black beans were yummy. They do have an extensive menu so hopefully next time I’ll get lucky. I’d try this place out again maybe on a weekday HH but never again on a Friday or weekend. Hopefully the service improves with time. Maybe it’s hit or miss.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic restaurant, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked through the door, we felt welcomed and valued. Our server, Rubi, was an absolute delight. She was friendly, attentive, and genuinely interested in ensuring we had a great time. Her warm demeanor added to the overall positive vibe of the place. As a Margarita enthusiast, I couldn't resist trying their smoky Mezcal Rita, and it did not disappoint! It was a high-quality Margarita with a unique twist that I thoroughly enjoyed. For appetizers, we opted for the mixed empanadas, and they were fantastic. The flavors were rich and delicious, making it an easy recommendation for anyone visiting. Also the salsa for the chips was great as well. We also tried the pulpo a la parrilla, and it was a showstopper! The octopus was perfectly grilled, packed with flavor, and paired wonderfully with the delicious vegetables and sides. The black beans were a pleasant surprise, offering a delightful burst of flavor. The manager, I believe his name was Erubiel, was incredibly passionate about his job and went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable dining experience. His dedication to excellence was evident throughout our visit. Being in the service industry ourselves, my boyfriend and I can attest to the exceptional service provided by this restaurant. It was evident that the entire staff takes pride in what they do. In addition to the outstanding service and food, the restaurant was impeccably clean and organized, further enhancing our dining experience. The live music added to the vibrant atmosphere, creating a lively and enjoyable ambiance. Even with a packed house, the staff managed to keep everything running smoothly. Overall, this restaurant exceeded our expectations in every way. We can't wait to return and will definitely be recommending it to friends and family. It's the perfect spot for any occasion, including catching a box fight while enjoying great food and drinks!

This is a favorite of my parents, and they've been coming here regularly since the restaurant opened. We've all noticed a steady decline in quality, food and service in this time, unfortunately. The food is still good, but it's definitely not what it used to be. The flavor for most items is pretty good, but I've gotten quite a few things from here that were honestly very bland. For the prices they charge, you'd expect consistency and uniformity across the board, but it's a gamble on flavor and quality. The staff are usually pretty attentive and responsive, but as the restaurant has grown in popularity, they've become less-so as you can imagine. They're constantly going from frigid indoors to smeltering outdoors, trying their best to take care of customers along the way. I don't blame them at all, but it is noteworthy. During our latest visit, they forgot our drinks and we had to grab a second waitress thirty minutes after waiting for the first. This was just for water, and yes we were outside so it was hot. Our food then arrived over an hour after that, including the appetizer and the alcoholic beverages. Inside is blaringly loud. There's no sound insulation, there's a lot of metal, and there's barely concrete, meaning everything reverberates and echoes until it amplifies to a deafening degree. Outside, there's beautiful scenery next to the little river that winds along the path, but unfortunately, we ARE in Texas so it gets uncomfortably hot. There's only the occasional large umbrella outside for shade. We always choose the uncomfortable heat over the uncomfortable volume since it feels like there's no benefit to eating inside. This may be a good "once in a special occasion" type place. But anything more, and you may begin having lackluster experiences like we've had our past few visits

Went to this restaurant on Friday 1/12/24 and I ordered the Vuelve a la Vida. Once I received my entrée and started eating, then I happened to notice a dark strain on top of my fish. Pulled my plate closer to me and saw that it was dark color piece of human hair in my food on top of my fish. Got up to find a manager, and once I found a manager, he expeditiously took my plate back and asked me if I wanted my entrée to be prepared over or if I wanted something different. I responded and said I want the same thing I initially ordered. Okay, so the manager had the cooks remake my order. Once I received the remake of my entrée I took only two little bites off of my plate and totally lost my appetite. I asked the manager for a togo container. I packed my food up and sat and watched the rest of my family finish eating their food. When I requested my ticket, for one, it took them like 15 to 20 minutes to bring my ticket to me. Then once I received my ticket the manager did not compensate my entrée as a courtesy for the inconvenient of the hair being in my food and me having to wait for them to prepare my entrée all over again. My family members are all eating while I had to wait. I called the waitress over to my table, and she was so clueless because the manager did not tell her what had happened to my food. So I requested the manager back, and the waitress brought, I guess the lady was a lead waitress. She acted like she didn't understand anything that I was saying, so I requested for the male manager that assisted me in the beginning. It took him a while to come and tried to give the explanation that they remade my plate. I told him it was a disgusting experience and an inconvenience to me and my time. He responds and tell me okay I'll give you a small discount. Well when I recieved my bill the manager took off $3.80 and once the sales tax was added he basically took off a dollar and some change. That pisst me off soooo bad. I told them they are not customer service oriented. When I reached home and tried to eat my food, my damn fish was half done. I will never return to this restaurant again. If this is how they treat their customers when the issue was due to their cause. I just hate I didn't take a picture because I would have definitely posted...

I visited Lago Mariscos on May 27 around 11:45 AM for a lunch meal with my family. For those who have had the chance to visit Vida Mariscos, you'll find that Lago Mariscos shares a similar style and ambiance.

Ambiance and Cleanliness: Upon arrival, it was clear that the facility was not at its best in terms of cleanliness. The table we were offered was sticky and dirty, and unfortunately, the chairs were in similarly poor condition. This was quite disappointing and did not set a good tone for our meal.

The Food: The food preparation was acceptable for a two-star facility. We ordered the recommended "Parrillada", a Salad with salmon, fish tacos, and shrimps. The presentation followed the typical Tex-Mex style. While the taste was decent, it did not particularly stand out, aligning with what one might expect from a restaurant of this rating.

The Service: Service is another area where Lago Mariscos falls short. The servers do not appear to be fully trained in the concepts of customer satisfaction that you would find in a higher-rated establishment. This lack of training was evident in the service we received, which was quite basic and unrefined.

The Pricing: On a positive note, the prices are competitive compared to many other two to three-star facilities across Houston. If you're looking for a budget-friendly option, this might be a redeeming factor.

Noise Level: One of the most stressful aspects of our visit was the noise level. The ambiance music was loud, and on top of that, a quartet was performing simultaneously, creating a cacophony that was quite unbearable. This made it very difficult to hold a conversation, and I would not recommend this place for business meetings or gatherings where conversation is key.

Conclusion: Overall, Lago Mariscos offers a dining experience that aligns with its two-star rating. The cleanliness and service levels need significant improvement. The food, while acceptable, is not exceptional, and the noise level is a major drawback. If you're seeking a budget-friendly Tex-Mex meal and are not particular about ambiance and service, it might be worth a visit. However, for those looking for a more refined dining experience, there are better options...
