We had a nice time visiting here so don't get this review wrong, I'll explain.
I was expecting more, but it felt like they took shortcuts, being a chain. The crepe I had was the Alaskan salmon, built like a lox bagel. I guess I don't like warm smoked salmon but think it would be much better cold. The amount of cream cheese on it was so sparse, it was so dry and needed something... like a sauce, so make sure to ask them to be generous with that. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't as good as it potentially could have been. My husband had the chicken Alfredo, the sauce on it was very good.
I had the apple cinnamon creme brulee for dessert. Again, disappointed with the amount of (sauce) creme brule in it. I love creme Brule for the custardy taste with not so much sugar in it but there wasn't enough on it to really get the egg custard taste I love, just a hint. It reminded me more of pre made pudding or something. They also don't use real whipping cream on the dessert crepes, but some type of fake whipped topping. I couldn't finish my dessert because it had way too much sugar for me, but maybe not for someone else. I really wish restaurants would tone down the amount of sugar they put into things - it doesn't have to be diabeticly sweet. The music was this terrible jazzy discordant anxiety ridden & loud Christmas music, so we asked the server if they could turn it down and he was nice enough to do that, even if it wasn't enough. Some nice soft vintage Parisien music (singers) would have been nice. I know they were trying to be more contemporary though.
I'm sorry if I come off super hard and negative on this place, it was actually a really nice place with great design and the food wasn't bad at all, I just expect more when you say your food is from a country known for having gourmet food. I tend to go "foodie" on my reviews sometimes and am a little bit harsher than the normal customer, just bc I know they can do better.
I will be back for a second experience as its a cute place - very romantic.
I forgot to mention they have a Lavazza coffee machine and the cappuccino was outstanding with a great...
Read moreIt has taken me a while to write this review, because I truly had to process the experience. My Daughter and I love coming here. So on this particular Saturday when she ask me to go, my answer was absolutely! Let's make a Mommy Daughter day of it. We got up got dressed just alike from head to toe, and started our date at Sweet Paris to be followed by shopping at the mall. My Daughter ordered her favorite crepe, Mommy tried a new one. We decided to sit in a different area from our usual spot. We were taking pictures and enjoying our crepes, finishing up getting ready to continue our day. As we got up a man that was sitting next to us made a comment to my child. I asked him what did he say to my daughter, he said "I told her I feel sorry you, you're not very smart". Mama Lioness came out and told him he had no right to speak to my child and he contunued spewing hate. I informed management of the harassment. Officer arrived and informed us that this same man has had 4 previous reports here and the establishment refuses to trespass or ban him, although other businesses in the area have banned this man for the same behavior. They allow this racist to spew hate and harrass people because he's a regular, well so WERE we. My 8 year old had to experience this hate towards her for no reason because they refuse to ban this man. My baby was so shook and couldn't understand why this person who does not know her would say these things to her. Explaining this hurt me to my core. The officer made him leave for that day and this man said "I guess this is The Slaves Land". Sweet Paris, I'm so dissapointed that his business is more important than all of your customers feeling comfortable. My Daughter's favorite restaurant is now tainted...
Read moreThe closest I can get to have Parisian feel in Houston (as obvious as it's derivative); the music are all French too. Not that I understand any of it but I come to like the Les Champs-Elysees song.
Yup.. it's crepe or breakfast time at Sweet Paris. Great place for breakfast (omelette and waffles); (savory or sweet crepes); meat, seafood (salmon) or veggies choices. I've been coming to this place for Nordic and Alaskan crepes. But recently, I feel that the portion of smoked salmon are barely there. I feel like it is all capers and onions; kind of disappointing. I still love cookies and cream sweet crepe with added order of ice cream. I also like hot chocolate with cute Eiffel tower art which gives me that added vibe. The place can get really busy during breakfast especially on weekend! However, waiting time is not that bad. In fact, though it's busy, you can grab a seat right away since they have ample seating (indoor and outdoor). The place has good ambience; the chandeliers add some nice touch to the decor. This is somewhat half self serve restaurant where you order and pay at the cashier then staff will serve the food at your table. The service is fast except that one time when we are done eating the food and yet the hot chocolate has not been served. It turn out the machine got broken and needs fixing. We are not informed though. So I ended having my hot choco as dessert for which I don't mind. All in all, great place to go if you get tired coming at regular breakfast cafe/restaurant and or...
