Had been there before to that location at like 4am.My brother and me and had a wonderful experience the cook came out when learned that my brother was wanting to order breakfast do we was going to just finsh the coffee we had ordered and then go some where else to go get breakfast. The waitress was even nice enough to recommend some places near by to get breakfast cause they didn't start until 6am, and it was just about 4am. But when cook asked about our order she explained about wanted breakfast,he came to table and said he could do breakfast as long as it wasn't something that included biscuits cause hadn't started making them yet. So we told him what kind of breakfast we was looking for.He made us both a breakfast to die for... I got a cheddar cheese egg omlet with everything like bacon, egg, cheeses, hash brown with onions, diced tomatoes, etc. plus 2strips bacon, wheat toast with butter &jelly, etc. It was Best Breakfast had in long time... Plus my brother got 2 fried eggs well sunny side up,& couple thick sliced pieces of bacon, pancakes, etc. Nice big breakfast again,a breakfast too die for... Neither 1of us could even make a dent in our breakfast the amount was crazy... LOVED IT, BOTH OF US took the rest home in take home boxes. Actually was stopping at our uncle's to wish him a Happy 85th Birthday there was so much that we was able to make us all a Birthday Breakfast to Die for and our uncle wasn't even aware that what we was all eating as his Birthday Breakfast was our leftovers from our breakfast 2 hours early from steak and shake. No lie I'm still in awe about that breakfast and that cook didn't even have to cook breakfast at that time, not for another 2 hours... WoW... Anyways so my uncle and I went to that location but the experience wasn't that good. Matter of fact it was horrible compared to the experience and food my brother and I had when we went on July 13th,2018. I'm really upset over that...So hope those that go there goes on a Friday night &/or early morning hours so that guy cook is working and the waitress wasn't even aware how to ring up our order the morning of that Amazing Big Breakfast my brother and I received the morning of Friday 13th 2018 at the Wilmington Pike location in Sugarcreek, Ohio which is Green County. Hello to Sugarcreek police officer, Sargent Schalecky?(Not sure of spelling of last name, sorry)... Anyways Steak&Shake at that location can be really, really Great or Well kinda bad/Okie Dokie so...
Read moreWe have been going to this location over 10 years. We have seen waitresses grow and become moms, college students and one even a Manager. The last three visits, we could see changes that concerned us such as removing menu items, not having the ingredients to make featured menu items and staffing. This last time was ridiculous. The waitress was very abrupt, interuptive and down right rude. Quality of food was on point but service was very slow. We decided to get shakes to go, hoping we could get them a little quicker. Waiting for someone to finally get to the register we gave our order and paid. BIG MISTAKE!!! During our more than 30 minute wait standing by the entrance, we saw two employees having rather lengthy conversations in the kitchen. Two others by the drink/pickup station including our waitress were enjoying their conversations and an employee making shakes in the back complaining/bragging/mad because she came in or stayed extra. We heard this from the front door. The lady cooking burgers was more interested watching a child playing at the counter. However, she was working more than the others. Finally after 20minutes of waiting we said something to Melinda the Manager (I assume ) who had seen us standing in the waiting area throughout our wait but seem to have an attachment looking at her cell phone. Again, waiting longer than necessary, we finally had enough and repeated our complaints to her and at that point she appeared to get serious about our complaints. Finally bringing our order to us she awkwardly apologized with 4 cookies while fumbling around with a receipt that wasn't ours, assuming she was going to comp our meal but just told us that next time we came in ask for her and she would comp our meals. Had to ask for her name because she wasn't wearing a name badge. Somebody in corporate needs to get a handle on this store...
Read moreDespite a seemingly modest 3.8-star rating, this Steak n Shake location appears to be a diamond in the rough, especially when considering recent improvements and a potential bias in older reviews. A recent online pickup order on Sunday, May 18th, around 6:30 PM, delivered an experience so unexpectedly positive it evoked powerful nostalgia.
For anyone who remembers Steak n Shake's golden age, this visit suggests a remarkable return to form. The quality, which I feel declined around 2017, seems to have been fully restored, or at least this particular establishment is setting an exceptionally high bar.
Here's a breakdown of the meal: Burger: 9.5/10 – A near-perfect patty that clearly hit all the right notes. Bun: 9.0/10 – A strong performance, complementing the burger well. Burger Toppings: 9.5/10 – Fresh and well-proportioned, enhancing the overall burger experience. Bacon on Burger: 7.5/10 – Solid, though perhaps the weakest link in an otherwise stellar burger. Fries in Beef Tallow: 10.0/10 – An absolute standout, achieving perfection in flavor and texture. Cheese Sauce: 8.5/10 – A very good accompaniment, adding a satisfying richness. Presentation and Packaging for To-Go Orders: 9.5/10 – Demonstrates a commitment to quality even for off-premise dining.
The undisputed champion of the order, however, was the Oreo and M&M Milkshake, scoring an astounding 19.5/10. I would hail this as the best fast-food milkshake in over a decade, for its exceptional presentation, ideal thickness, and outstanding flavor.
This Steak n Shake location has clearly rediscovered its stride, offering an experience that not only satisfies but deeply impresses. For anyone traveling to the Dayton Metro area, a return visit is highly...
