For my first experience there, it wasn't a great first impression. We had a party of 7 and we received our charcuterie boards within 20 minutes. However, it took the staff an HOUR before they poured our wines at a Tuesday wine tasting. We finished our charcuterie before our wines were served. There were several tables that came after us who were served before us. One in my party had to go to the bar and ask for help. With 28 empty wine glasses at our table, it's not like staff didn't realize we hadn't been served. Some in my party had been there before for a wine tasting and purchased wine and boards and found it a great experience, as far as my experience, not sure if I'd opt to go back to this wine establishment to wait an hour to be served wine.

Was introduced to this gem of a place last night and I can't wait to go back. The wine was fantastic and the chocolate sea salt cookies are to die for. The staff was super friendly and very helpful for deciding on what to have. I know next to nothing about wine but they didn't come across as pretentious and answered any questions I had. The store is so cozy and full of neat things and even art for sale. I definitely recommend it for a date night or even just a place to wind down after a work day.

Nice casual pub style feel. Tables outside front as well to sit and enjoy a bottle of wine and possibly food from the menu. We stopped by after dinner. Had a bottle of Pinotage Barista wine and two orders of baklava. The dessert was served warm and on the side a sweet preserve possibly an apricot preserve? Very tasty.

BE WARNED: I really like this place. In fact, I voted for it in the Summerville Journal Scene Best Of competition in a couple of categories. But I and my friends are now torn as to whether or not we'll come back again. I was FLOORED watching as an AOW bartender or owner, not sure which, refused service to a male, African-American customer who was wearing a Trump hat this past Saturday in an act of ultimate discrimination—discrimination against his right as a citizen to silently support his President. It was a red hat that simply said Trump, and the AOW person repeated himself a few times that he "didn't want any politics in his place." He also explained AOW has easily triggered Customers—whatever that means! So if you are a customer here, you have to leave your first amendment rights in your car as relates to what you wear or be refused service as this Gentleman was.

RESPONSE TO AOW: Thanks for the response. Discriminating against that customer’s right to free speach is what I watched happen though. It isn’t my viewpoint. It’s a fact. He was told to take off the hat with the President’s’s name or to leave, and I heard it and watched it happen. So please don’t cloak this in opinion. That’s not what this was. And then three other people watched while the owner told us we could wear gay pride hats if we wanted, but not patriotic ones supporting the President. No worries though. When asked what would happen if we were wearing Biden hats... We were told we would “probably” be asked to leave. It was shameful. You owe that customer an apology, and the public a true commitment to the peaceful self expression you squashed. People here are intelligent enough to see the PC noncommittal in this answer.

RESPONSE TO AOW Thank you for this response Christine and Stephane. Your apology is whole heartedly accepted. I'm excited I can now return joyfully to a place I really enjoy with a Manager who is off the chain lovely and to your miraculous cheese boards and fabby wine! Thank you very much. Sincerely...

Very disappointed in the direction this location has gone since the loss of the prior manager Vinny. Now with the loss of Barb the level of service has plummeted. One in our party today went to the counter today and asked for a glass of water and was directed to a pitcher with plastic cups. Less than 5 minutes later we saw the same tall heavy set employee bringing a tray of 4 glasses of ice water to a table. When we were ready to settle our bill I went to the counter and waited 10 minutes for the same person to come out from the back. But before I could pay my bill 2 men came up to the side of the counter and handed him their credit cards and asked if they could split their bill while I remained standing at the front of the counter. Eventually he got around to taking my payment without acknowledging that I had been waiting. We will not...

Our first time there, got a seat at the bar which was nice because you can now get a feel for what’s goimg on and what customers and the staff are ordering and saying and such. We got tended to quick by two experienced knowledgeable bar tenders. They were extremely nice and helpful and easy to communicate with. The wine bar was busy from the outside seating to the table seating to the bar. People were getting bottles to drink in and the bottles to go. The prices to go were less and seemingly affordable. I had craft beer which they had plenty to choose from and my wife had wine which they had abundant selections of. We ordered a meat and cheese board and things went from good to great then. The cured meats and cheese board was fabulous. We had a great first experience. We live in Summerville and...
