We are Locals and Know this Place Well and it is Packed with Locals and Tourist because of the Food and Old school, But Classy Décor inside with its Dark Woods and Low Intimate Lighting. ( Lights bulbs are old school and Got VERY Hot )
Things started Off Great with Reservations being right on time. The young Ladies at the front Greeted Us Very Courteously. We were there Celebrating a Special Occasion with My Wife and Son.
Our Server Was Very Nice ( Needs to remember to Introduce himself before I ask their name 15 minutes later when things started Going down hill ) . Appetizers Were great ( Fried Green Tomatoes with Marmalade ). We had Sirloin Steak / Salmon with a Beautiful Sauce and Crunchy Topping ( Forgot the name of dish ) and Spicy Chicken breast in Sauce . The Salad Was Excellent.
Our Orders for the Entrees were messed up and half the plates taken back to the Kitchen and then brought back unwarmed . ( If you take a Plate with Entire food back to Kitchen at a Expensive Restaurant Like yours, it should be Recooked / NOT Re-Plated )
Basically ALL our sides were messed up / wrong. **After 20 minutes of waiting for our meals the Server comes back out to inform Me that they do Not Have anymore Flounder or Crab Meat . REALLY PEOPLE???? You should have a White board in Kitchen that Has What you’re out of So the waiters can let the Guest Know ahead of Time. *Was the Food Outstanding, YES It was :-) . Thank You for that. Servers should Know to bring All Entrees Out together not 10 minutes apart so some are Not cold and others Hot :-) . Water and Drinks were Kept Full the Entire time, 😊 Thank you. Your Servers that Brought the Food Out were Very Professional and Clean Looking :-) .
**Your Establishment has WAY TOO Many Surcharges and Taxes. WOW!!?? I don’t care how much Money MY household Makes, and Trust Me we Can Afford it, Over Charging Guest is Ridiculous. We spent $200 out of 3 People and that was Only with Two Alcohol 🍷 Drinks. $6 plus dollars to use a Debit card?? That’s Not Good Service. You’re Already Over charging for the food ;-) .
NOTE: If you’re going to Drizzle Chocolate over To Go Pies please make sure you do it after you place the pie in container, LOL LOL 😂. There was No Chocolate for Taste or Presentation on the Pie pieces. It was placed in ToGo container before pie was placed in it. ^^^^^Waiter was Very Accommodating when it came to our request for Extra Sauces, Thank You.😊 Very Bothered to Have to Pay $200 for 3 Very Polite People for So many Mess ups by your Cooks and Waiter and We Were NOT Comped One thing .
*Overall the Waiter was a Super Nice Person, Clean looking and Sharply Dressed and Attentive, just think they need to Listen More to the orders and Take Proper Notes with the Note Pad he had in his hands :-) Waiter did have to ask Multiple times about what each of Us were Having??
P.S. *I Remember earlier this Year the Manger walking the Floor and Asking Each Table how they were doing and I did Not See that this time ( Sunday Night ) .
P.s.s. Many Times Im giving Props for a Good job in Person to the Managers of a Business, but was Feeling this One should be Somewhat Private for the Server.
Thanks and We Will More than Likely give You all another Try :-) Remember, Just because you’ve been around for decades doesn’t mean Guest won’t go to Google Reviews and Gage their decision based on these Reviews… Whether to Go Or...
Read moreA day before Mother’s Day dinner (2025), with my sister and husband, was one for the books. My sister and I grew up in a home with a mother that did not allow men to wear hats in the home. Upon entry there is cute sign that reads, “Gentlemen please remove your hats.” Missing our mother on Mother’s Day has been a pain to endure that we will live the rest of our lives with, but this sign made us smile.
Living in the Summerville, SC area most of our lives we (my sister and I) had never heard of Oscar’s (which made the sign special to us). My husband, the out-of-towner, found this restaurant and thought we should give them a shot. After waiting for roughly 10-15 minutes to be seated, we were escorted to a table in what I’ll call the back dining area. The area was dimly lit which allowed for a flexible mood be it classy, laidback/calming, or romantic. Though Oscar’s is upscale dining, I would not consider it fine dining, though there is a hint of a fine dining experience. However, it is a great spot for a mature birthday dinner or date night. I recommend dress casual attire or semi-formal attire for a special occasion. There is an outside patio, but I have no opinion or description about it as I did not visit the area.
Our waitress, Nicole, was amazing. She answered every question we had and if she did not know the answer or lacked confidence in her response she sought assistance (we appreciated that). The restaurant was nearing closing time, but still had a small crowd and was slightly busy. Even with the influx of guests we never felt ignored, forgotten, or less served. Nicole made recommendations based off of our questions and recommended the grouper bites which we absolutely enjoyed. There were two disappointments during our visit which were related to availability, but resolved by the kitchen staff. When dining out and an item that we desire isn’t available we may be disappointed, but we pivot. Though we did pivot, the kitchen staff was able to make it work and we got what we were looking forward to.
We truly enjoyed everything about Oscar’s. The hostesses, wait staff and managers were all pleasant and the cooks that evening were amazing. Nothing and no one missed a beat. Our meal was seasoned well, lacked nothing and did not offer a salty bite which seafood often does, especially in the tri-county area. The thousand island was the best that I have ever had (though it was not what I expected). I have consumed delicious shrimp over the years, but nothing like this and never does leftover shrimp reheat well, except from Oscar’s (another plus). Without a doubt or second thought I would say that Oscar’s has the best shrimp that I have ever consumed. If you enjoy ginger and mock-tails like I do, I recommend the Cranberry Ginger Fizz. From what we experienced at Oscar’s we have no complaints and without a doubt we would...
Read moreMy wife and are new to SC and have been enjoying our dinning experience at many of the local eateries, inclusive of the Ice House, La Rustica, Laura, Page's Ocra Grill, etc. All of our dining choices have been sourced via recommendations from the local residents of Summerville and Oscar's was at the top of the list of fine restaurants to try. So it was with great anticipation that we decided to try Oscars late this afternoon. We were celebrating paying off our new SC home and were looking to party like retired rock stars (not), lol. Upon arriving, we were whisked to the bar side tables and were told to seat ourselves. Upon self-seating , we were given one menu and were promised another which took another 10 minutes. While waiting for the menu, we ordered our drinks, a glass of Moscato ($13) and a Miller Lite ($3). When the drinks (after a significant wait) were served, the pour of the Moscato was absolutely embarrassing. Literally it was about an eighth of a glass! When we advised the waitress of the paucity of the pour, she advised that only the bartender does the pouring of the wine and therefore there was nothing she could do about it. Oh well, the wine was finished in 2 sips, so $13 down the drain and buying a second eight of a glass for $13 was not an option. For an appetizer we decided to split the shrimp cocktail and it was a huge disappointment. The shrimp were tiny and unappealing, as was the little glass they were served in. Additionally, the presentation was unappetizing and had almost zero cocktail sauce. Instead, the shrimp were stuffed with a soggy salad into this tiny glass. #NotGood I guess they thought a tiny glass would make the shrimp look BIGGER, lol. For the entree, my wife order their seafood stuffed burrito and I ordered their Jamaican Jerk Maui. The Maui had to be immediately returned as it was a stale, over cooked, minuscule serving of fish. The Maui was less than a quarter inch thick and about 3 inches in length. A total disappointment. The Burrito was a larger portion, however, it was on the bland side of the ledger. As a replacement for my initial entree, I ordered the fried chicken breast with two sides. By the time the entree arrived, my wife had finished eating and our celebratory meal had been ruined. This was also a huge disappointment as the chicken breast were so tiny that it would be more suited to a children's meal. The sides of mashed potatoes and broccoli were pedestrian at best. As a result of the above, we asked to chat with the manager. Tony was a nice gentleman and he bought my wife another drink. Tony advised that he would address the issues we encountered with the staff to ensure that it doesn't happen again. So, we left very disillusioned with this establishment and hope that they fix these inadequacies.
I'm not sure, lol. It's supposed to be...
