Mother’s Day Brunch. We started our “Brunch Expedition” with attempt to dine at two other restaurants in the surrounding area. One offered a 3 hour wait and the other was only accepting reservations because it was Mother’s Day. In all honesty, Toast All Day was at the bottom of options because it seemed to not be the “vibe” we were after. What we quickly learned is sometimes GOD puts before you what you need. Our experience at Toast All Day was more of a blessing than just a meal. The woman we spoke with, that we believe is the owner, reminds me of my mother. Her willingness to serve people, see them happy and enjoying her food makes her happy.
In this food industry you aim to please as many people as possible to keep your doors open. Each new customer must be impressed in some way shape or form to encourage at least a second visit and hopefully repeat business and then word-of-mouth “advertisement” so on and so on. Well the so on and so on happened with us. We were in-town visiting for Mother’s Day and never been to or heard of Toast All Day. The name makes the place sound like a coffee shop to grab a quick bite, but the pleasant surprise inside proved otherwise. Because it was Mother’s Day there was a buffet, one that did not disappoint. However, people are used to what they are used to and some people (regulars) begged us to give the establishment another shot because things are usually different and better. Well, we were unbothered and beyond pleased with our experience and our meal. Any issue we had, nothing major, was corrected right away and in the most Southern way; a dying and well respected behavior because the tri-county area is flooded with transplants.
Everything we ate we enjoyed. We arrived closer to closing so the area used for the buffet had its fair share of bumps and bruises, but the food was presented in a such a way that you didn’t have to guess what you were eating nor were we concerned about eating. The staff made sure we had the same experience that they offered patrons that arrived before us.
We try to not eat the same place twice when we visit because there are so many more options in the tri-county area, but we will break that rule for a meal at Toast All Day,
Renee, thank you. You made our experience more enjoyable and me less anxious. Kindness and patience goes a very long way and you exhibited both. I appreciate you taking the time to listen and respond to every question my party had the drunk choices, even though it took my small group some time to decide.
To the entire staff (yes, the kitchen staff as well 😊), thank you. Thank you for helping me show my husband the tri-country Charleston hospitality that I grew up with. If you’re a transplant, you fit in well. It’s hard to come home and not feel at home because the people around you aren’t “of” your hometown. Keep serving with a smile, accepting criticism to foster growth and listening to your patrons. You all are amazing and we were more than impressed by your teamwork. You all interact like family and we love it. Y’all are all, alright with me....
Read moreWhere to start??? .. let see When we got seated our waitress got obviously upset because the hostess sat us on her area.. so yeah from there we got attitude, and waited for a while. Ordered orange juice, we got the juice and after I had half of it I noticed something in my juice, I thought was ice.. but nope! It was the plastic cap from the store bought orange juice.. when the manager came to our table she explained that it was a store brand and that they also offered the fresh one.. and she was laughing showing the waitress the cap! “We found it” she said laughing.. it wasn’t funny to me…obviously we never got the choice of fresh and store bought .. the waitress came and said “I didn’t offer the fresh because is $12 dollars and the store one is $4… I was like mmmm and what gave her the impression I couldn’t pay??? Anyways… so yep more attitude.. the manager brought us a fresh squeezed orange juice.. and yes the difference is 180 degrees.. way better, does it worth the $12? Nope….. We finally got our food, honestly was ok.. the biscuit was amazing, definitely fresh made… my son liked the burger.. but the side pickle was old.. dry and looked weird.. I just can’t believe I asked to have a gift card from this place to celebrate… never again.. perhaps another location.. but I wonder if all the employees are trained the same way??? No one there looked happy to be there… bad experience but I guess I learned my lesson, never go by the good reviews.. try for yourself and make the decision...
Read moreI had heard great things about Toast and decided to give it a try for my daughter's 25th birthday celebration. Although there was a short wait to be seated, it wasn't too long. However, once we were seated by the hostess, it took an unusually long time for a waiter to acknowledge us or even come over to our table. It was about 15 minutes, which was surprising considering it wasn't even that busy. Furthermore, the waiter seemed unfamiliar with the menu, which was a bit disappointing.
To make matters worse, when we ordered mimosas, two of the cups had visible dirt and particles floating in them. We specifically asked if it was pulp, but it wasn't. I also advised them it was my daughters birthday and asked for a song, they completely forgot. And they also forgot 2 side orders of food that was placed. Again it was not crowded at all. Additionally, I had placed a to-go order well in advance of receiving our food. However, even after we finished our meal and paid the bill, I had to wait an additional 20 minutes for the food to be prepared. Throughout this time, there were no updates from the waiter, and I was left sitting there wondering what the hold-up was. To my surprise, when I went to inquire about the delay, I noticed that half of the staff, including my waiter, were standing around, laughing, and engaged in casual conversation.
Perhaps it was just an off day for them, but I must say that I was not impressed with the overall...
