Daly's Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Sun Prairie

My son, Scott, and I recently flew up to Madison, Wisconsin to attend my grand-son’s master degree graduation. On the day before, the two of us drove around several little towns sightseeing: One was called Sun Prairie and we came upon a huge sign that said: DALY’S BAR AND GRILL. Hum, interesting since our name, too, is Daly and spelled the same way. It was lunch time, so what better place to try. It was the best idea ever! Inside a quaint white picket fenced area was several umbrella tables for outdoor seating, but we walked up to look at the window that had a sign painted in gold saying: Voted best Bloody Mary in Madison. That was just what I wanted with my lunch, so we walked into this huge beautiful restaurant, with a stage for evening performances, too. We were greeted by a delightful server named Shasta, like the Daisy, and then along came a friendly man that said we could sit wherever we wanted. My son asked: Are you the owner? The man immediately stuck out his hand and said, “Yes, I’m Steve Daly.” To which my son said, “I’m Scott Daly.” Man, you look like me and sure enough, they did look alike. He was so cordial and accommodating and got us our two Bloody Marys and a huge menu. Oh happy days: Perch and blue gill dinners. We don’t have those in Tampa, Florida. We spent quite a while at this fantastic place. The food: The hospitality: The Atmosphere, the Bloody Mary’s all were exceptional! This place is fun for me to review. I find it very enjoyable and relaxing. The food is fantastic. I have never had so many good experiences eating at a restaurant in a row! When I walk in there I feel like the place is made for the working man or woman. Like it is meant to take care of what you need and move you along. However, you could take a date and have a good time for hours. I take my kids there now because they like it equally well. My older son has special needs and is very particular to his environment. So I can only try places to see if they work and if it does not I have to move on. This place just works. The staff are very nice and know what they are doing. Let's go back to the food! Went there last week for the first time and the bar was packed. Now I know why, the food was awesome and the service was good. Granted we weren't served ASAP but with so many people there it was very acceptable. The Cobb salad was the best I have ever had. The Quesadillas my friends had were great too. Then we saw the plate of Nachos going to another table and we will definitely be ordering that next time. The portions are huge and high quality. The waitress told us everything is hand made. She checked in on us several times during our meal to ask if we needed anything. Only a 15 minute drive from the east side of Madison so I will make this trip often.
