Food too sweet. All the same sweet sauce. Like eating dessert chicken. Like, I knew it was a fusion-y place so I was expecting it to be Americanized, but it was really Americanized.
The momos were not hot. Some were barely warm. The unevenness and the texture of the skins leads me to believe these were reheated and not freshly cooked.
The butter chicken was fine but as mentioned the sauce was sweet, and it was the same sauce they put under the momos. The garlic naan was bland and I didn't taste any garlic or even butter.
The saag paneer puff was probably the best thing we ate but you can get puffs in all kinds of flavors at Indian bakeries all over the Bay area for less money.
The boba in the mango lassi was terrible, like it had been made in the morning and sat all day. Straws are some kind of eco plastic that is really brittle. More than one splintered on me and one hurt my lip. Kind of dangerous.
The chai was $5 for a tiny cup and was only ok. It was too sweet until after I had half the gulab jamun cheesecake. Shah's free chai or Pav Bhaji and More's chai are better.
Speaking of the cheesecake, it was gimmicky. The cheesecake part was fine but the gulab jamun pieces were dried out and hard. Fresh and hot is the only way to eat gulab jamun.
Also the cashier kept touching his mouth which made me uncomfortable and nervous about getting...
Read moreI have very high standards for restaurants so this review is very critical.
Having said that. This restaurant is really really up there. My god. I don't think I've had food this good in the Bay Area
I ordered the tangdi kebab, the kerala fried chicken, chicken tikka masala and tandoori roti, garlic naan
The kerala fried chicken was 20/10. I cannot emphasize how good this dish is. The chef is a god amongst men. He peppered it with fried coconut flakes! This is excellent.
The tangdi kebab was falling off of the bone. It was so well done. 10/10
The chicken tikka masala. Felt like it was homemade. You know that scene in ratatouille when the food critic eats it and feels like it's his mom's cooking? That's what it was like.
The service from the owner was amazing. He prepared a fresh lime soda for us with full details.
Ambiance is extremely well done. Minimalistic design that feels upper class and CLEAN.
I think this is a masterclass in small business restaurant design. Others should take notes.
I wish I could give more than 5 stars.
Only one critique: the garlic naan was a bit undercooked. But forgivable since everything else was too good.
Food was also very low...
Read moreThe fusion of both Indian and American food has been beautifully orchestrated through their burgers, nachos, wings, etc. The butter chicken is genuinely one-of-kind and will have you wanting more the moment you try it. The variety of Indian spices incorporated into American food is a combination to die for. I love the portions of food we receive for the price paid and the dishes are very unique. The service is amazing but my favorite thing about this place is how fast the food arrives. The food tastes so good and I am happy I don’t have to wait a very long time for it. My favorite dishes are the Butter Chicken Nachos and the Chicken Burger. I also love the Mango Lassi with boba, which is an extremely unique concept that I’ve never seen before. They even have a drive-thru option, which is very rare especially for Indian places but it’s very convenient. This place also has nice vegetarian options, where the dishes have paneer. This is definitely one of the best restaurants...
