Asahi Chinese & Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Sunrise

So I lived in Sunrise back from 2016-2018 and I ordered and dined here many times. I moved to Deerfield and could never find anything like it. Saturday night about 11:30 the options are limited and Asahi came up on Uber Eats and then it all came back. I remembered it and how much I loved it. So I ordered and it brought me back. Every single element I was looking for I received. I don’t like the taste of frozen vegetables in my entree. I ordered shrimp with lobster sauce. The shrimp were firm with that perfect bite to them. The vegetables were fresh and the carrots were not mushy. The eggroll had all the flavors of a fresh made egg roll. I kept telling my husband that I couldn’t stop thinking about the food because it was amazing. It reminded me of growing up in the early 90’s when you could order and it was still really good.

Well we ordered again tonight. I got the same meal he got the Singapore noodles and he suffering from a heat head high and is so happy because it was the level of Hot he has been looking for. in the past five years I can honestly say that we probably have tried 30 different places to try to get that flavor that we had growing up. Asahi did it. He was intrigued because Saturday night after I ordered my food and I was eating it. I was so happy. And I couldn’t stop talking about it because I was craving it Sunday so he suddenly says you know let’s order it again. He’s been blown away. And he really is a flavor snob, he needs the heat. He needs that fire. He needs that Euphoric buzz from hot food. And now he’s gotten it. All I can say is I am so happy that him and I can both agree on takeout. First, let me preface by saying I rarely write reviews of places, and when I do, it's because of it being an exceptional place. In this case, exceptionally bad. I love asian food!! It's been my favorite since I was a child. So i'm not a newbie at it. Now this place, it was my first time ordering from them. I ordered Mongolian Beef and a Spicy Tuna Roll. First the spicy tuna roll is about as big as a quarter. It was mediocre at best. Nothing to write home about. The mongolian beef was a disaster! It says spicy, but there is no spice at all. In fact there is no flavor at all. I found whole dried chilli peppers in it, so I guess I was just supposed to eat them to get flavor, rather than they be chopped up and meld with the sauce. So I did something I, also, rarely do. I called the restaurant to tell them how dissatisfied with the food I was. Now, I understand no business likes having customers call and complain. But this place, the person on the phone got very rude and defensive and rather than apologizing or attempting to make peace, she just told me next time don't order from them. I was just calling to tell them that I found their food to not be as advertised and rather bland and flavorless. Rather then try to make the customer happy, they essentially told me to get lost. I know lots of others are happy with their food, but I for one, won't be giving them my business again. If they had tried to make amends and offer to make me something else or something like that, I'd give them another shot. But someone who is just so...

Love this place! Been ordering from them for over 14 years now and they never disappoint. Never a wrong item always fresh, hot, and fast! The delivery guy is a doll and the place should be an institution for the area. Many places come and go this place always been and always will. Both take out and delivery (using their delivery not a 3rd party) never a complaint. Thanks for the great food and GREAT PRICES for the quality. And if anyone wants to know both the Chinese and Japanese menu items are excellent. My go to for our household is lomein, dumplings (both the Chinese and Japanese), Rangoon, steak on the stick, spring rolls, Ribs (we have had both boneless and bone in) chicken wings, spider, lobster, and their birthday roll, and have had many of their specialty items from their tilapia dish, beef and broccoli, Kung Pao, and bourbon chicken. And again, always great! Entire family loves them. My kids when they want anything delivery they ask specifically for this spot!
