We didn't eat at the restaurant but ordered pickup to go. This was our first time trying this restaurant. My experience was the following. We LOVE Greek food so we have been to many other places. We ordered the Souvlaki Chicken skewers platter. 2 skewers come in the platter along with a small salad and one side. The only side other than the salad that comes with it is the yellow rice unless you want to pay extra for any of the other sides. For example, potatoes instead of rice were $1.49 upcharge. The skewer platter was $15.99. I really wanted to like the chicken however it was very bland and tasteless. Cooked well but very little seasoning at all on it. We also ordered the lemon/rice soup which also was very bland (in fact we took a few sips and just threw it in the garbage). One thing that also bothered me was the fact that EVERYTHING there is an extra charge. Yes the platter comes with a very small cup of the tzatziki sauce. If you want another small cup it's an extra charge. I know things cost money but to me it's just nickel and diming the customer. The people at the counter were nice and helpful but based on the food taste and the annoying thing of EVERY side other than rice is an upcharge really kind of bothers me. We have gone to other similar places like Spartan Gyro in Weston. You want an extra sauce, no problem (no extra cost). You want a different side and not rice, no problem. No upcharge. When you are charging $16 for 2 skewers of chicken that is more than enough to cover a few potato slices instead of the rice in my opinion. It's just cheap. Oh, then after I tapped my phone to pay, they turn the screen around to see if I want to leave a tip on a to go order. Yes, I know a LOT of places do this but I found it funny that they are so cheap as to charge for a little cup of extra sauce but then want you to tip the person putting your order together. Needless to say, I will NOT be going back to this place. I really wanted to like it but didn't and wouldn't recommend it either. The one bright spot I noticed AFTER I ordered was the family platters (only to go and not for in restaurant dining). 10 skewers of the chicken, rice as a FREE side and a Greek or Caesar salad and all this for $54.99. To me this sounds like a great deal if you are a few people sharing and want a lot of food for not a lot of money. However, I didn't like the food enough to come back again. Literally tasted like there was NO seasoning on the...
Read moreJudging by it's namesake, you would think they had the best Souvlaki around - AND YOU'D BE RIGHT!! Absolutely the best Greek skewers I've ever had 🤩 I tried the Chicken Souvlaki and the Beef Souvlaki appetizers, each came with one packed skewer of moist perfectly seasoned char grilled meat, and a warm grilled pita. Also, I tried the Spanakopita (Spinach Pie) which was light and fluffy, and very flavorful, about a 3x5" portion. I got a small side of hummus to taste with my pita, and it was delicious and creamy, perfect texture. As if that wasn't enough food (it was, really) I wanted to try their Gyro (pronounced Yee-roh). It was MASSIVE! I have never seen such beautifully packed hand-held deliciousness wrapped in foil! The meat was tender and so moist - not dry at all. Pita was warm, not hard and not soggy. Tzatziki sauce inside and Greek salad elements (no feta) topping the meat. I admit, I ate it with a fork. The food was a hit, and I'd definitely come back again. The service was great. New girl behind the counter on her second day, was so welcoming and cheerful, even if she was still getting familiar with the menu. The owner and chef was behind the counter in the open concept kitchen, and was personable and helpful as well. Unassuming strip mall restaurant atmosphere, loud festive music playing, cute decor. If you find yourself on West Commercial, I highly recommend you try...
Read moreGreat little Greek diner with lots of personality.
I went here for lunch on a Wednesday. There was ample seating even after a party of 8-10 folks from work showed up right in front of me, but let me go first (thanks!). There were two folks taking orders (one was being trained) and another pair filling them. One gentleman was leading the team shouting order details in a deep voice and telling customers, “I appreciate you” as he handed them their orders. Decorations are Greek Islands themed, whimsical, and aesthetic. There’s even a sign that reads how far away you are from Athens Acropolis and sure enough it is accurate to within 100 miles.
Finally a Greek place to stand out in a sea of Mediterranean places that are usually Arabic, Persian, or Turkish, and it has all the dishes you’d expect.
I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki Platter with Rice and Dolmades (grape leaves) as a side.
Everything was tasty and delicious.
The Dolmades were just right in taste and texture.
The chicken was juicy and cooked just right.
The pita is fluffy and bends perfectly without breaking.
My only disappointment came from the rice. It was tough, dry, and crumbly. I must have gotten an unusual batch since people seem to love the rice.
Looking forward to coming back this week while...
