I had a very uncomfortable experience yesterday. I have visited this restaurant several times because I believe it offers pretty decent food. Yesterday 3 out of 4 main dishes that we ordered were tasteless, we couldn't finish with first 2, so I asked for ají de gallina (pretty simple plate, it is hard to be wrong with it), and I had to ask for salt. I may say that causa limeña was good, as well as chicha morada and crema volteada (desert). When I asked the ají de gallina, I told the waiter about how bad the food was. Then right before living (bill of course was already paid), I emphasize waiter about the quality of the food. Basically because I wanted to come back.
My surprise was that someone that is supposed to be the owner or the manager approached my table and told me two things that were inappropriate:
She told me that probable I like food with more salt than normal people. This means she didn't understand the difference between low salt and tasteless. She told me to go somewhere else if I don't like the food. I told her that I have visited the restaurant several times but yesterday food was tasteless.
I'm sad... basically because I couldn't understand what was the objective of coming to my table and making me feel so uncomfortable with my family next to me. It would have been so much easier to approach and say: I'm sorry that you didn't like food, I promise next time it will be much better. That message would have reinforced my idea to come back. Instead, I...
Read moreLa Perla Seafood Bar & Grill in Weston is a standout destination for authentic Peruvian cuisine, offering a vibrant atmosphere complemented by live music on weekends and attentive service. The restaurant’s cozy setting, combined with its flavorful dishes, makes it a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
I typically order The anticuchos, traditional Peruvian skewers made from marinated beef heart. I would describe them as marinated filet mignon pieces nestled on top of crunchy potato croquettes. They are my favorite!
The Tallarines Verdes, or green pasta, is another favorite. This dish features pasta tossed in a vibrant basil and spinach sauce, my daughter opted for no protein as she doesn’t eat meat. Great flavor from the spinach sauce.
Overall, La Perla offers a delightful culinary experience that captures the essence of Peruvian flavors. Whether you’re indulging in the savory anticuchos, the rich green pasta, or the refreshing Pisco Sours, you’re in for a memorable meal.
I typically sit at the bar with my wife, but today we sat at a table. Osvaldo (I hope I spelled it right) has been there for several years and he makes my Pisco Sour to perfection. He’s a familiar face that I’ve known since I started to frequent the restaurant over the last few years and is always very friendly and willing to chat with us. Five stars to the whole team...
Read moreFriday eve (8ish) able to walk in and get table with live entertainment (plus) with minimal wait. Wait staff very interested until order and sale is complete, post order service was sparse, particularly since we didn't comply with the hard sell on alcohol. Food was good, presentation better. Corvina unevenly cooked, although tasty. Squid needed to be better cleaned of membrane under skin before prep, making it chewy, although cooked well. Opinion that ceviche was over marinated or had too much lime. The most acidic Peruvian ceviche we've ever had. Appetizer - 5 tostones corvina mixto @ $27, more than most dinners, good but not nearly worth it. Then you charge for postre for birthday celebration, on top of included 18% gratuity for a party of 5. Has potential but need to improve service attention, skip the mandatory gratuity, esp for issues of 6 or less (more common). Presentation is there, foods needs some small tweaks, but don't forget how much the people and details make the experience and rating. This is more of a 3.50 to 3.75, but I've rounded up. Maybe...
