TLDR: very bland food, including the burgers which I suspect must be frozen patties. No refills on drinks, but generous portion sizes, very nice facility and atmosphere and lovely staff.
Stopped at the Superior location on our way back from a road trip, we had never been to either, but the reviews on burgers were highly favorable and a juicy burger sounded great!
The facility was very clean, they were following covid precautions, and the staff was very friendly and thorough. Lots of variety on the menu, but I decided to just go with a classic and get a cheeseburger with the beer onions & tots. The tots were pretty good, although I can't say I could detect much flavor aside from "salty" in the seasoning. They have a myriad of dipping sauces for $1.49 a pop and I got chipotle ranch.
This was the least "chipotle" tasting ranch I've ever tried (I'm kind of a big C-R fan so I've had my share). It was very, very bland. It wasn't even that tasty as a "plain ranch". I could probably give this a pass if it wasn't an up charge of nearly $2.
Okay, the burger..it was quite big (I felt like they gave a lot of food) but what it wasn't was good. It wasn't dry, or over cooked; just very bland and tasteless. I suspect they must use frozen patties because I couldn't believe how much it lacked flavor. To be fair, they have all sorts of combinations and maybe smothered in all those other toppings it is enough to disguise just how little flavor the actual meat has, but when toned down to a simple recipe this just wasn't any good.
No free refills on soda as you get cans for $2.
I'm not sure what to make of the prices. There is an issue of quantity over quality. Really great staff, just not a compelling reason for us to ever make a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHad a fun time stopping in this place for a few quick ice cold beers and an appitizer snacks with my family. The place was very busy, but a fun atmosphere. Maybe not the greatest choice if you have really young children. It was a little louder of a place, but it was also 6:30ish pm so during prime time dinner. Either way it was not a big deal to us.... We were just happy to be in a clean atmosphere, have a friendly server, with good smelling and looking food. I found this place as my family was passing through town. I based our stop off other reviews and we are glad we did. We were not dissapointed! I was very happy to see a very impressive and extensive beer menu. Lots of local choices to choose from. This was perfect for me not being from the area, to get an opportunity to try some of these local area favorites. The best part was they offered everything in flights so we could try a few more and not have to drink an entire pint. Food was tasty as well. Our kids got some cheese curds and mom and I shared some amazing chicken street tacos! Everything looked great! Anytime I am back in this area I will be stopping here for sure! Thanks for a great 1st...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I were visiting the Duluth-Superior area, and we chose to eat at 7 West TapHouse based on reviews. The taphouse is in a historic dentistās office in the Tower Street district, and the tin ceiling and brick walls add to the inviting nature of the space. It wasnāt too crowded when we arrived, with only one waitress (Katie) on the floor. She was SUPER busy but very kind and helped us out a lot with the menu. When I wasnāt sure about which beer to choose, she gave me a sample of one of the seasonal beers (Castle Danger Maple Marzen) and it was so yummy that I ordered a full glass!
We started our meal with cheese curds, which were perfectly done: deep-fried but light without being greasy, still springy, and SO tasty!! The Taproom dipping sauce was a great blend, reminiscent of a 1000-island dressing. I had the cream cheese and green olive hamburgerāwhat an interesting and tasty combination!āand a starter salad, and my husband had the #7 West OMG melt, which was delicious!
It was a memorable meal in memorable surroundings, and weāll definitely be back to the TapHouse on our next trip...
