Vintage Italian Pizza — Restaurant in Superior

First time visiting VIP. The place presented clean and orderly. Our beverages were ordered and delivered promptly. A few minutes later our order was taken. We ordered two pies that were recommended to us by others who had been there. ( This was our first visit) It seemed to take an exceedingly long time for our pizzas to arrive. So much so that my wife got up to enquire. " They just came out of the oven" was the response. They were brought to our table, no eye contact was made. Both pies were over cooked, one to the point of blackness. Our server seemed to realize that this was unacceptable. I got up with the burnt, black pie and began to walk it to the kitchen. She immediately offered to re do the pizza. We would surely have understood if she came out and said that the pies were both overcooked and couldn't be served... But that's not the way it went down. The worst of the two was redone and delivered promptly. And I will say it was quite good. To the servers credit, she presented the bill with a tiny discount. 5 bucks. I’ve been making my way through different pizza spots around Duluth and Superior since I live here part time, and I can say without hesitation that VIP has the best cheese and sauce in town. This was my very first visit, and Barry, who helped us, couldn’t have been more welcoming. He had an easygoing, no pressure style and even went out of his way to bring us samples of their homemade pasta sauce and a breadstick to try. That sauce is the real deal, my wife said it was just like what we’ve had in New York City, and honestly, I’d put it right up there with Little Italy in a blind taste test.

Something I hadn’t realized until I went in is that VIP has a full bar. I wasn’t sure from the photos online, so I snapped a couple myself so people know for sure. If you like friendly service, the bar seating is great, you can look right out through big windows onto the busy street. There are also casino games inside if that’s your thing.

The service was horrible we were barely waited on the food sucked do not ever ever go there if you expect real pizza or if you expect good pizza the cheese sticks we're not crispy on the outside they tasted horrible I wouldn't feed it to my dog if you have taste buds don't go please I beg you don't go I paid $40 and it was just horrid the waitress barely came by I had to beg the other staff members to come and help me with my order of the things that I needed and even some of them ignored me the male stat the male waiter ended up staring at me as I raise my hand to alert him and walked away people I have no idea why this place is still in business I had the cheeseburger pizza deep dish the bottom crust was soggy I asked for extra cheese there was no extra cheese but I do have to admit there was plenty of meat this was a waste of my money and my time that I can never ever get back it is sad so sad I guess I got spoiled by the real Sammy's Pizza in Duluth not the one in Superior they really care about...
