Empire Coffee — Restaurant in Superior

This weekend we were camping near superior and wanted to get some coffee. We googled and found this place! The inside looks awesome with a very nice atmosphere. But unfortunately the staff was not very nice or welcoming. Then after we got our coffee they forgot to give us the muffin we ordered which is fine, things happen! So we asked about it and the employee seemed annoyed but gave us our muffin. Then I looked at my iced latte and it looked extremely white. I walked away took a couple drinks and it tasted like there was no espresso in the drink. So I went back and asked the employee and she didn’t say she was sorry grabbed the cup took my lid off and I’m not sure what she did but after she handed it back to me she didn’t say anything. I just said thank you. Looked at it again and didn’t look like she added any more espresso and still tasted like milk. I tried drinking more but since there was no coffee it didn’t taste right and ended up throwing it away. I was very disappointed and I’m not sure I can say I recommend this...

I've been here three times and for the most part I really like it.

First time I had and iced Americano which was very good. I'm picky, and I like them strong, and they made it well.

Second time I had a cup of coffee and a Nutella filled cookie, both great! Coffee was strong and flavorful.

Third time me and my wife got coffees and I got a muffin. The coffees were luke warm for some reason, maybe sitting out too long? My chocolate muffin was not that great. Hardly any chocolate flavor and it tasted like the baking powder wasn't mixed in all the way. It had a very sharp, metallic taste. Maybe just a bad batch.

Atomsphere wise I really like it. It's very open and spread out. Very quiet. Nice place to study or chill out. Though there is a weird fishy smell in the back. Not sure where that's coming from.

All in all, my favorite place for coffee...

As a college student I love to do my homework in local coffee shops. The atmosphere is usually better than my house or school, there's good coffee and snacks immediately accessible and I'm supporting local businesses. I decided to try this shop out for the first time. I walked in and set up my laptop to get into a productive place prior to getting something to drink. Less than five minutes after I walked in the barrestia interrupted me saying "You kinda need to buy something or get out", unbelievably bad customer service. I considered just walking out but decided to stick it out and just order a coffee. The chai tea and customer service was considerably inferior to Duluth Coffee Company, the last shop I decided to try out. I'll be going elsewhere in the future, first impressions really...
