Kostas Gyros — Restaurant in Superior

I've been here a handful of times and each time is just as good as the next. You get a sense of nostalgia when you walk in. At least for me any way. It's a small little place with only a few tables to sit at. It reminds me of an old school deli or sandwich shop in the heart of Brooklyn. I pretty much just order Gyro's so, I cant really speak for much else on their menu. I know they make there Tzatziki sauce in house and daily. It's so good! I usually order extra. Guys there are friendly and are happy to make your food. Not a lot of places these days that make you feel good for visiting them. It's become almost an expectation for most restaurants. So, when you are appreciated for your business, that says something. Swing on by, phone in an order or have it delivered! I highly recommend...

Pulled up, looked at the online menu in my vehicle for about 5 minutes. Walked into the restaurant in front of just one other patron. Ordered 3 Gyros with fries, and ask for them to be cut in half. I was then told by the lady at the counter that she was too busy to cut my three sandwiches in half, and that " I'm sure I can cut them myself ", but there were no other customers in the store other than the one customer behind me. I quickly understood the atmosphere based on her body language, lack of customer service, and lack of clients. If you're not from here, don't come here if you know what I mean. I have been a Kostas fan for many years and tonight I needed my fix, but I got there at 8:02 and saw the closed sign go up. I really needed a Gyro so I ran across the bridge to Coney Island and ordered one up. My first clue was that they did not have the big rotating lamb meat on a spindle and they purchased the meat precut. It still looked like a good Gyro and I was still excited to try it. I Took my first bite and what a disappointment. The Gyro was bland and the meat was mushy. I now appreciate Kostas so much I had to write this review.
