Grannie Annies Ice Cream Cafe — Restaurant in Surf City

The WEIRDEST place i have ever been too. Uptight, lots of rules, and a staff that hands out spoons FOR A BELGIAN WAFFLE SUNDAE!! The spoon, Grannie Annie Staff, will not cut it (literally AND figuratively). They then made one waffle at a time knowing there was an order of 5 and continued to place the cold ice cream on the HOT WAFFLE. Uhm, hello, the ice cream will melt!!!!! Don’t forget you can not start to eat your ice cream until the bill is paid. There are signs posted telling you that you are not allowed to sit until the bill is paid. ALSO, don’t expect to taste flavors because according to the owner, “the owners have come up with many reasons as to why that is prohibited”, yet failed to provide us with any. Best part of it all, we had some of our family grab the orders that were ready so they didn’t melt and can be enjoyed, but the owner ran and was like “WAIT you can’t leave! you didn’t pay”. Well duh we didn’t pay, half of the orders still weren’t ready and I HAD THE MONEY. As we were paying, the owner gives us the total and goes “Is that right?”... ITS YOUR PLACE!! FIGURE IT OUT. I WISH I could post something less than one star. ".5" would be too much. This place was awful. The ice cream was mediocre at best but the service was DISGUSTING. 'Granny Annie' (or whoever the old, terribly mannered woman was who served us) managed to ruin the day at the beach. I understand that small businesses might not operate with modern technology such as credit card readers due to financial failure, but please, don't be a terrible person if we, tourists from Baltimore, don't know that. I've never been treated with such disrespect in my life. When I asked the person working if she accepted card, she gave me a smug and said "Nooooope". "Oh, okay. I'm sorry, did you advertise that?" "Excuuuuse me?" "Do you advertise that you don't accept cards?" "Why should I have to?" "Well, we're from out of town and other stores-" "Yeah, well we're not opened long enough for that and if you'd been to other stores they don't either." Please DO NOT waste your time or money going to this establishment. The elderly women was extremely rude and impatient. When ever I asked a question she would just point to the menu in front. Her tone and demeanor was way off. As far as the store it does not have a chip/swipe machine. And In 2019 that Is very unusual and will lead customers away from your business. Especially with the poor customer service. They do not use fresh or homemade ice cream. You’re better off going to Walmart and getting a 1/2 gallon of Eddy’s for half the price.
