Playa Bowls — Restaurant in Surf City

I’ve been here twice and the first time it took about 25 min to get my bowl when it wasn’t crowded and there seemed to be no motivation by the employees to go faster than a snails pace. The second time took less time for them to make it but when I was the only one waiting in the building they seemed to forget that they needed to actually give me bowl for about 10 extra minutes until who I assume was the manager walked in and asked if I was waiting for something (like no sir I just like to stand in the corner of random businesses on my phone for fun) so still a long wait in total. I should also note the girls were just standing in a circle talking behind the counter and the manager(?) was talking with them too before he noticed me. The bowls are good don’t get me wrong but if you want actually good service and nice employees go to incredibowls also in surf city. So much better and they have all the same options playa bowls has. So my 17 yr old daughter loves these bowls and i thought I’d try them myself. She would talk about going to playa bowls with her friends. I’m one of those people who wont go somewhere without reading the reviews so I came on here and saw there was only one bad one so i gave it a try. WELLLLL, i have to say the bowls were amazing, I recommend the tropical acai bowl. The service was great, the people were friendly and when i asked for a manager to say how pleased i was, the owner popped up from behind the counter to talk to me. It was refreshing to see the owner getting her hands dirty with her employees. I couldn’t disagree more with the one negative review on here and felt obligated to share my experience. I love playa bowls, and have been to this location before. The food is good, but it’s definitely frustrating when there is 6 workers behind the counter and the only one actually moving and working was the girl making 15 smoothies while the rest of her coworkers were basically just hanging out. If anything that girl deserves a break and her coworkers should be pulling their own weight and helping her.
