First, let’s get something straight, right off the bat. This place is located in Surfside, where EVERYTHING is expensive. This is a very unique establishment because they cure / smoke their own kosher meats and poultry and you can find some very interesting things…and they’re very good…but their prices are absolutely insane.
I ordered a corned beef on rye. Paired that with a Dr. Brown’s Cream Soda (as one should). Total? $38.24 (including the gratuity they added on).
Now, here I was thinking that I’d get a stack of corned beef on a nice toasted marble rye but that was not the case. The sandwich was definitely NOT like any you’d get from a deli. There was about 1/4” of meat in the sandwich. It was served hot which was nice. The rye bread was just kinda “meh” and tasted more like under-toasted white bread. They give you a pickle spear but it’s not even a good one (for what you’re paying) and 2 spoonfuls worth of cole slaw.
As I said, it’s a unique place. Not many places making duck prosciutto and veal pancetta…AND it’s kosher.
Would I ever go back for a sandwich? Probably not.
It’s what it is and if you’re looking for unique cuts of meat then go check it out, just remember your wallet.
I should’ve taken some photos but...
Read moreI would give this restaurant and it’s managers and owner, a zero star if I could. Watch as they respond to this review with words such as scam or other nastiness. But the truth is we dined with friends and had the worst experience we have ever had in a restaurant. The food was horrific the service was horrific. I had my son write a review for me and they called him threatening lawsuits. They use the blame game on anyone who dares criticize their sub par service. The owner cursed my son by saying this loshon hara will be bad kharma. But instead of hearing people and being humble you use this religious card. The truth is the truth no loshon hara about it. Yes you harassed my son and told him our review will never close down his restaurant, so why harass him if the review does not do anything? Anyways it seems you guys will always have the last word and a story to say. I’m more than happy to hear the words I’m sorry with some real kindness from you but instead you enjoy to fight and harass people who had a horrific time in...
Read moreThere is the grill and the bistro. The bistro sells meat like a butcher or deli. We bought a pack of salami and a nearly 2 lbs tomahawk steak. Of the three people who ate the salami all three got stomach pains and indigestion. This is a group of people who eat charcuterie boards fairly regularly.
The tomahawk steak was in a vacuum sealed bag. When it was taken out it smelled spoiled, it was slimey and when cooked, it tasted of rotting meat. One bite and we tossed it.
Granted the meat looked as if it was dry aged, which usually has an off smell, but this was bad. but there was no packed date or anything. Two products spoiled, most likely due to storage practices.
Also note that salami was consumed directly after purchase and steak cooked night of purchase.
We could have returned to the store but we had no evidence of our spoilage as well had tossed...
