I’ll be dreaming of these tacos every day for the rest of my life. Let’s taco bout it. (See what I did there?) if you know me or read my reviews there’s three things I could live on forever. Tacos of course, Pho and Cold Brew. There are a couple taco spots I frequent, but I always listen for new places to check out. If they’re local I definitely have to come and support. My daughter and I were in the mood for some Quesa Birria tacos so I looked around to see what my options were near El Mirage since we were in the area supporting another local spot. My eyes instantly saw Calizona and I knew this was where we were headed. I’ve heard great things and I’m honestly surprised I hadn’t stopped yet since our favorite butcher shop/market for asada and such is so close. I followed the directions and knew where to stop when I saw the red truck. The lot it is parked in is small, but there was decent parking. I can see it filling up quick. It is located in front of a busy tire shop. As I stated it is a food truck so there is no inside seating. There is however multiple tables with tent cover. Each table has a cooler with salsa to keep cold. The menu is simple and so many tasty options. After a few questions we went with six quesa Birria tacos which to my surprise free consommé because we ordered more than three. We ended up with two consommé which was more than enough even with my daughter dunking those tacos like her life depended on it ha ha. Let me tell you if you could win a taco contest on looks and smell alone they’d win every time. Presentation was on point, some lemons topped a few and oh man from the first bite to the last we couldn’t get enough. The flavor was fantastic. The consommé kicked it up to a whole new level and the toppings fresh. We arrived around 1pm so it wasn’t too busy; just a few other people. Service was good and the cashier gave us some salsa containers to fill to take our food with us. It was a bit cold so while we did take it to go we sat and ate it in the car. Make sure you grab plenty of napkins because those juices run wild. Salsa options had a good kick. I already am planning our next visit to bring back more family and try the rest of the menu. If you’re a lover of Birria then run don’t walk. This is definitely a piece of taco heaven in the much needed...

Finally tried Calizona Tacos. My family and I have been wanting to try this taco truck for awhile. It was worth the wait! We tried the Quesa Birria and the Birria Ramen. They were delicious! They don’t skimp you on the Birria or the cheese and you can definitely tell they cook it with the beef bone. The cheese they use was very melty and they dip the tortilla in the consumè before frying it. I would have liked a little more crunch but I know they were busy. With that said the cook still managed to get food out very quickly. Which was very much appreciated. The consumè was very flavorful and bright red. I would have loved a little more spice but I understand not every one wants too much spice. This was easily resolved when I added the chile they had freshly made. I tried the green Chile it tasted roasted and packed a punch in the throat. I like that they serve their food with lemons and not limes. The tortillas taste homemade and you can tell they press them by hand and not with a tortilla press because some areas of the tortilla are are uneven. Which in my opinion makes them better. I do have to say I would like a smidge more of salt in the masa. We will definitely eat at the Calizona truck again. They seem like a nice family. Love how the kids help out with handing the food to the customers. They accept debit/credit cards which is...

SHOUT OUT TO CALIZONA TACOS! So happy I decided to skip pizza night and try this place in my hometown. It was cool, I picked up the phone, called and spoke with Raul, gave home my order for pick up and done. I told him my order once, and it came out perfect. We had carne asada tacos cause that's what we were craving, and I had 1 taco of birria which was delicious. The carne was super tender, hot and moist. The birria was super moist, juicy and delicious. The tortillas were just right, not paper thin, didn't smell commercial(like patas), didn't fall apart. The salsa's were perfect. Not suicide, but hot and favorable. The only thing that could have been better were the beans and rice. I get it, they cater to the public and people who want flavor but don't. I think fresh made pintos mashed with a little cheese would be so much better, and I get Spanish rice is tough for anyone to nail. Overall, I give this spot a 10/ a+ for my first time. Awesome...

Excellent food! Very affordable. Tacos are $3 and tacos with cheese are $3.75. They have birria, asada, shrimp, etc. Beans and rice for sides as well as some soups and quesadillas. They had a Jamaica and orchata the night we went and both were excellent! It's been a long time since I had good drinks at a Mexican food restaurant. They take cash and credit cards. There is a nice covered seating area with multiple tables, and each table has three homemade hot sauces, kept in a cooler with ice packs. Most people were ordering to go but it was a nice night we so we ate there. It was all very clean and well kept. We saw several families as well.

Disappointing! I drove 15 minutes to eat dinner there for the first time “during advertised open hours” only to find NOTHING at their address! NO food truck… NO sign… NO presence of any kind. Then I called and got a recording saying they were closed today. Really? It’s 9pm and they advertise “open until 10pm on Sundays.” No one in the service industry closes for Father’s Day… but if THEY want to be the exception then they should at least change their advertised hours. Not a serious business… they don’t treat customers like they are valued. I won’t be back.
