Whenever I am in the Phoenix area, I stop by this shop at least once. Their selection of weapons isn't great but it's a good place for gun leather (and high-end plastics). However, I wouldn't put too much stock in the comments about rude staff. As a counter example, consider the following... I had just given my carry piece (a well-worn Glock 23) a thorough cleaning, removing all the lint, dust, etc, that accumulates when a pistol is carried on a daily basis. When finished, I realized I had no lubricants with me (I was on the road). I didn't give it a second thought. However, I noticed that the slide was locking back after every round and the standard slap, smack, and rack drill didn't clear it. Baffled and thinking I might have buggered up the trigger assembly, I took it to the shop. Walking in with the slide in one hand and the frame in the other, it was pretty clear that shopping was not the primary reason for my visit. After a few minutes, one of the older guys asked what I needed. As I explained the problem, he dissembled the pistol, remarked on the lack of lubrication, then proceeded to add a few drops of CLP and put it back together. I tried to interject, asking if the slide lock spring was properly installed-- he just kind of ignored me while he filled the magazine with dummy cartridges. Before I could finish my thought, he was cycling rounds through the chamber, not missing a beat. I was gob-smacked that it was nothing more than lubrication. However, more to the point is the fact that the clerk (perhaps the owner), didn't fart about, went straight to solving my problem, despite having never seen me before (much less being a customer). He may have appeared curt or terse to some, but he was really just being efficient, trying to help as many customers...
Read moreI walked into this store today WITH CASH to buy a pistol. (Preferably a glock 26, but I was open to several others as well.) I had been here once before and had a good experience with a lady who was very helpful. I was excited to give my business to this local gun shop. So today I walk up to the guy and told him my first choice. He said, “Nope we don’t have any, you should have came in a month ago when we had those on sale.” I then asked him when they would get more. He replied “I don’t know, but if I order you one I can’t get you that price.” Now I have been doing my research on this and I knew of several other shops that offered 499.00 for a gen 3 brand new. But since I wanted to save myself the drive of going into phoenix or Glendale I was perfectly fine with paying a little more. So I asked him what the price of them was now. And instead of answering my question he repeated “You should have came in here a month ago when we had them on sale.” The guy then backed up and started talking with another employee. I thought he would get back to me but instead he and the other employee started to walk away towards the back as they laughed. After that I walked out, WITH MY CASH.
Is this really customer service? Is this really salesmanship? I should have been an easy sale for these guys. I was ready to buy with cash! I didn’t even get to ask this guy if they had the other ones I was interested in. I would say I’m in a bad mood, but it’s hard to be after you just bought a new pistol. Yes I made the drive and took my business elsewhere. And no, I did not buy my first choice. Instead I bought my second choice that I did not get to see if guns plus had. If I were the owner I would say you have a nice shop, but I would be concerned about the idiot you have...
Read moreWhere to start. June 2nd I visited Guns Plus to purchase a 9mm. Due to covid there was a 2.5 hr wait. I took the 2nd half of my day off of work to stand in line. I as told I would have to wait for a delay in the background checks. My deposit was taken. I called the next day to find out when it can be released. I'm told Ken has to approve it.
2 weeks later I've heard nothing. I contact the store and I am told that they will call once its approved.
The next week I call and I'm told again that Ken is out for the day and that I will be contacted as soon as he returns. Im also told after 30 days they dont have to wait on the check anymore.. I'm advised to take a concealed weapons permit course so I don't have to do this in the future.
Here it is July 8th and I call once again to find out why the delay? Now I'm told...oh sorry you didn't get a call. You'll have to come in and fill out another background check and wait again. After wasting a half days wages and a month of them holding my money I requested a refund. Upon returning to the store to get my refund Ken said he would be happy to do another check and release it in 3 days.
As someone who works in customer service and directly with customers on a daily basis, I'd have acknowledged my companies short comings and offered some sort of compensation to keep their business.
Kens response " I'd really like to see that in your hands. Its a really nice pistol"
Well Ken I agree. It is a nice pistol. I'd have loved to own it. And had you offered any type of a discount for your terrible services rendered to begin with I'd have gladly purchased from you. As is now Im off to shooters world. I like to stay with local and family run. That bridge has been...
