Heard a lot of great things about this place so we were excited to try it out, but we just weren't impressed. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great.
We're new to the area, so we were a little confused trying to find it. GPS did take us to the correct spot, but the old sign from the last place was still up (Under Review) and lit up as well, we didn't realize that was an old name until we looked closer and saw the Venue Taproom banner.
The inside was clean and well kept, staff all wore masks, and guests were generally spread out but they were not skipping booths, we had people on both sides of us. We didn't really mind, just something to be noted if you do mind.
Waitress was friendly. I get that this is a taphouse so their main thing is beer, but I asked if they had a full bar and she yes, but they did not have a cocktail menu. I prefer to order drinks off a menu and try new things because I'm not the best at knowing the names of all the drinks out there. I knew I wanted something tropical with rum. They ended up bringing me a glass of pineapple juice with a shot of rum (and this is how it was listed on the bill too) I mean, it was ok, but definitely not what I was hoping for or explained I wanted. I expect if a restaurant doesn't have a cocktail menu that they can at least recommend a drink that has more to it than that, say a mai tai or something similar. We also ordered water, it had a funny taste to it, likely just tap water and not filtered. It was also annoying that the straws were too small for the cups they used for the water.
We ordered the cheese sticks as an app. They took 28 minutes to come out, waitress had come out to apologise the kitchen got backed up and they should be out soon, because two "big parties came in". There was no more than 4-6 people at any single table, so we just kinds looked at each other and shrugged it off. When we got our appetizer, it was so overcooked it was hard. I ate one with a fork and knife, it literally deflated when I cut it. My husband didn't like it either but was starving so he ate the remaining 3, we should have sent them back, but didn't. My husband joked that the waitress didn't check on us during this time or ask how it was (when she took the plates she didn't say a word) because she knew they looked bad.
Entrees came out shortly after, we got a SW chicken sandwich and the Bourdain Burger. We split each of them, both came with fries. Fries were fine, nothing to write home about. The SW chicken was good, but not very flavorful, just kind of bland and the avocado tasted like it had been out too long even though it looked fine. The Bourdain Burger on the other hand was fabulous. It's definitely a different type of burger having apple and honey on it, but it was really good.
I don't think we'll go back anytime soon, but I would consider maybe giving them another chance someday, however I probably wouldn't bother with an appetizer as that was the worst part of...

Read moreI’ve been wanting to try this place for a while but I don’t find myself in that area very often. The place before this one used to have a BELT sandwich which is bacon, egg, lettuce, and tomato. when the new owners took over this location they kept most of the menu, including the BLT and I was told that you can ask for the egg if you would like it so that’s what I did. I finally got a BELT.
It was a good sandwich but Here’s the thing. Shredded lettuce. The only approved use for shredded lettuce is in tacos. Otherwise. No. Shredded lettuce is a giant nope for me. Yeah. I said it. And you know what? It tasted like shredded lettuce. That is to say “not fresh”. Or like the refrigerator. Also. It’s on grill oiled sourdough bread. I don’t care for that. That oil is messy and does nothing for me. Overall it was ok. I just had very high hopes for a BELT.
The side tater tots were good and crispy golden brown and the Arnold Palmer was good too.
There was only one server, which is another issue. Not his fault by any means but only having one server with 6 to 8 tables one of which was an eight top means that the customer better be patient. I was there probably an hour and a half for a sandwich and tater tots. Again. Not his fault. But I was getting impatient.
Next time I go, I plan on trying the burger they have with mushrooms , Swiss and bacon. I’ve been looking for one of those in the west valley for a while with no luck.
Price wise was affordable but watch that tip calculator. It calculates including tax. I don’t know about you but I don’t tip...
