Go for Mexican she said.. it's always fast, she said.
We went on a Friday night about 6:45. Had a 15 to 20 minute wait. They didn't take names at first but just kept telling people 15 minutes. As more came in they started taking names and things were messed up initially.
They were busy but rightfully so being new. We had chips and salsa on the table as we sat down. House salsa is on the spicy side for me. We ordered two sodas and a beer. It took about 10 minutes to get those even though the waiter passed by several times. When the drinks arrived I ordered the Amigos Sampler and we waited 30 minutes before it came out. When it did the taquitos were burned and the shell which of course should be crispy was very very hard. The mini chimi was shredded chicken which didn't seem to have seasoning. The cheese quesadilla was cheese and tortilla (of course) and the nachos were layered refried beans and chips which cheese melted. The nachos were under everything else including the guac, sour cream, and pico.
By the time the app hit the table the place was clearing out considerably. We ordered our entrees and two items to go at that point because we were worried about the wait. We ordered the enchilada trio and enchiladas de camarones. We waited another 20 minutes for the entrees. The menu description on the enchilada trio is incorrect. The beef enchilada comes with a mild green sauce instead of the red sauce the menu states. The cream sauce on the chicken enchilada was good but the chicken was the same as that in the mini chimis so it was very bland and dry. The cheese enchilada in the trio had a ranchera sauce which flavor we could not place but it was very salty and smokey but not like chipotle.
Our 2 go order was just a chimichanga with rice added inside and an order of chicken strips and fries. Both the diners at home enjoyed their entrees.
In total for 4 entrees, 1 app, 2 sodas and a 22 oz beer, it came to $74 and tax.
I'm hoping they just had an off night and the kitchen had been slammed before we got there and had a hard time recovering.
If we try Amigos again I will hopefully be able to update...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place came highly recommended by one of my coworkers...thanks Brian. I decided to give it a try yesterday for dinner. At first glance, from the exterior, it looks like a typical strip mall Mexican restaurant, but as you enter the front door the smell from the kitchen hits you with a delightful scent. The hostess greeted me with a smile that radiated through the mask. I asked for a corner booth which luckily was available. After I was seated only a couple of minutes went by as I was greeted by Margarito which was awesome by the way. They had Modelo Negra on draft which I love. They brought out the chips and salsa and spicy bean dip. I asked for the hot salsa and he said āhold onā brings out the blazing gun. Mixed with the bean dip...fire. I ordered the camarones a la diabla. They were served with a side of beans, rice and tortillas. Let me tell you the dish was absolutely delicious. Very, very authentic like when I visit Guadalajara. Two negra modelos, chips and salsa and a fabulous entree, there was no room for dessert. I canāt forget to mention that the owner came to the table and asked how everything was. I thought she was server āundercover bossā Dressed in uniform like the rest of the staff. I mentioned to her that the food was delicious and she said āgood to know and thank youā she then mentioned she was the owner. I asked her name she said Sandra. I told her she runs a tidy operation and she thanked me. She said they are a team and thanked me again. This is definitely my go to spot when...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOh, my God! What an embarrassment.
I brought my friend here that lives on the other side of town and we got the āspecialā of fries and chicken. It was AWFUL.
My food arrived tepid. When I initially ordered, I asked them to plate the chicken separately because I am a vegetarian. I was informed that I would be charged extra because itās considered a āsplit dishā.
Despite asking for the chicken on the side, I still found chicken in my dish.
The french fries were not fully cooked⦠The jalapeƱos looked like they had just been pulled out of a can, or a jar, and poured on top⦠same for the pico- didnāt taste fresh. My guac (the tiny dollop they use on top) was discolored and brown looking⦠the cheese is not evenly distributed; so I had part of the potatoes with nacho cheese, and the other part that had shredded cheese.
Let me just say, Iām grateful that my friend enjoyed her prickly pear margarita because the entire experience was a complete fail. Most definitely not worth the price. I left disappointed and my friend stated it was worse than hospital food.
Update: 7/2023 Went back recently because my son insisted on trying some Mexican food. We ask for a table for two...WALK PAST OUR WAITER (he is sitting at the bar chatting with some men that do not work there)...we are seated for over 12 minutes (in a fairly empty restaurant) before we are offered a cup of water.
Folks, take the chance making better Mexican food at home. ...at least you'll be able to get yourself...
