A friend of mine, when I mentioned that I was looking for a great bakery to find, mentioned this bakery. I came here today, May 31st, in hopes of trying them. I stopped in about 10:50am, waited about ten minutes in line to order - at which time I perused the case, and once at the register I ordered a dozen of their cookies: 3x chocolate chip; 3x oatmeal raisin; 3x white chocolate macadamia; and 3 other novelties of lemon-raspberry, oatmeal cream pie, and the monster cookie. I waited for about another ten minutes; at which time the line grew so long that it crowded the small area where I and three others waited. The case had more than cookies. There were a variety of muffins and small cakes and brownies. To me theyâre a novelty coffee shoppe with sweet treats. No donuts, no coffee cakes, no butter cookies, no sweet breads, or cakes like the bakeries I knew in Chicago. The other side of the bakery was more like a cafe, and the menu must have a variety of sandwiches, salads, and such. Once at work I had an oatmeal cookie. It was okay. A bit undercooked if you asked me; but too soft for my liking. A coworker who tried the white chocolate macadamia said the same as he wished it was baked a little longer. Another who tried the monster cookie said it was too sweet. Cookies arenât suppose to be overly sweet. These cookies arenât cheap or reasonably priced. I think they offered a discount for the order as each cookie was $3.00; and the novelty cookies were as much as $3.50 or $3.75 a piece. All totaled came to $38.00 and after tax the check was $41.61. I donât believe Iâll be back as this isnât to me a true bakery. They wonât miss me. Judging by the crowd and what they were ordering, they were there for the specialty drinks. Come and try them, but donât believe for a minute theyâre a true bakery. Best places that I could suggest are Rainbow Donuts by Ava in Peoria, New York Bakery in the West Valley (around 102nd and Grand [Rte 60]), or Sunrise Donuts on Greenway in El Mirage. Theyâre not as pricey...
Read moreI went this morning for the first time after hearing about how well loved it's been but I was absolutely disappointed. I spent over $15 for 3 items that were.. fine. The coffee, despite having Hazelnut syrup and cream added was bitter and I ended up giving it to my husband as he doesn't mind bitter as much as I do. The poptarts was good, the ham and cheese croissant was fine, it was both dry and soggy at the same time but it was... Fine. I won't go out of my way to order it again.
My biggest annoyances come from 2 things. The first being having to pay for a water cup for my kids. I think it's insane to pay for water in a state where drinking water is ESPECIALLY important, but sure, whatever, it was only .25¢ I think. My second annoyance was seeing a #backtheblue giftcard right next to the register. I don't feel the need to explain further in a Google review. I know this is a polarizing take but seeing items like this in businesses severely impacts my perspective of them and subsequently my ratings, so it's included in my review for that reason.
Ultimately there are much better bakery's around that will be getting my future business, but if you're into that kind of thing, you'll be into Boyer Bakery.
Edit: I did also want to mention there was also no high chairs in sight (I didn't look around the corner, my hands were full of our food & my 2 kids) which is super annoying especially when I'm on my own...
Read moreSuch a pretty bakery this is, and they were all decorated for Fall when we drove out there last week. In addition to pastry items, they also sell seasonal gift items such as candles and potpourri. I have only given them 3 stars because we made the half hour drive to purchase a dozen of their apple cider donuts which were advertised on IG specifically stating there was a dozen limit. (We were having a baby christening brunch on Sunday.) Well, not true, they would only sell 6 donuts, and stuck to that even tho I explained that I called on Friday to place an order, a request they turned down. On Saturday when they wouldn't sell me a dozen donuts, I ended up purchasing 6 sweet almond croissants because I didn't have time to find a replacement. So, 6 donuts @ $3 each and 6 croissants @ $4.95 each was a total rip off. Yes, I'm still aggravated because I'm a true "truth in advertising" advocate and I told the woman behind the counter that they needed to change their advertising on IG and on their account, and as of Sunday night, they hadn't. The donuts were delicious but the croissants were the same as those you purchase at Costco, not even as good those you bake yourself from Trader Joes. I hope ownership reads this review and realizes that price gouging today will definitely impact their bottom line as you will lose customer after customer, no matter how pretty...
