My first time going to a Weinerschnitzel was in Orange County. Seeing one locally here in Surprise I wanted to try them again. They serve a Chicago style hot dog. And I’m always searching for a go-to restaurant for a great Chicago style hot dog.
This place is bustling with drive-thru traffic. I came to dine in. There was a bit of a wait. About five people in line; with one register. They have a lot of employees working behind the counter. Orders taken were filled quickly.
I ordered two ‘all beef’ Chicago style hot dogs, a medium french fry, and a fountain drink. I took my order outside on their patio that’s covered, and by their drive-thru kiosk. The hot dogs are fare. They almost had everything right. Mustard, onions, sweet relish, half-moon sliced tomatoes, pickle, and sport peppers and celery salt… no poppy seed bun. The frankfurters were fine. They’re not Vienna beef quality. The flavors were alright. The fries were like that of In-n-Out quality. They’re very good. I like some salt, and it’s not easy salting fries after they’re cooked. I miss the days when they’d be salted for you. The salt clings better once out of the fryer. I like the fact they have Coca-Cola products. Nothing beats an ice cold Coca-Cola from a fountain.
My lunch was a nice break in my day. Would I come back? I’d say yes. There are other menu items to try. Not the best though for a Chicago style hot dog. So my search continues in trying other restaurants. For now, the best in Phoenix is the Chicago Hamburger Company on Indian School Road.
More about this place. It’s clean, has plenty of seating — inside and outside, and is located in a strip mall. Parking might be a challenge as there’s a DMV office that has many...
Read moreAte at the New surprise location 2 times in the last week or so. The first time we came we ordered in the drive thru, got a chili cheese burger, and fries and the Chicago dog, the Chicago dog was really good. But the chili cheese burger had no cheese or chili on it at all. I also ordered the new froot loop dipped cone, the flavor was good but they didn't dip it all the way to the cone so I had icecream all the way down my arm by the time I got home. And the girl in the drive thru was giving off vibes like she didn't want to be there. She was very short with us, the second time we came in went through the drive thru again, we got just a quick cheap meal with another froot loop dipped cone, this time the cone was still dripping but the froot loop sauce was chunky and felt like 3 layers of sauce when I went to go bite into it. I was trying to give this location a chance because they are new in the area. But I'm very disappointed over how it turned out.... I wish it was different because I love this restaurant and all the options it has but the service and quality of the food wasn't that great compared to...
Read moreGreat stop at the new Wienerschnitzel off Greenway and Cotton lane in Surprise.. We arrived a bit after 2pm to a packed place and line. The drive thru also full of cars. That’s a good sign. Service was quick and friendly. The store itself was clean and easy to get about. We enjoyed the Chicago dogs and chili dogs. Fries could’ve been cooked a tad longer, but we’re still good. A few employees even came to check on us throughout our meal. Good addition to the parking lot. After grocery shopping a quick bite through the drive thru will do the trick. Who wants to cook after all that...
