OK, it was a busy night, I'll give them that, but we sure had one disastrous experience eating here. We arrived just before 7pm. Because all tables were reserved or taken we were told we could sit at the bar. The bar would sit just 2 people and it faced the wall. The special was white fish for $24. We both ordered the white fish. After about 20 minutes we were brought 3 slices of baquette bread with some oil to dip. After about 30 minutes we were getting a bit impatient, as staring to a wall just a few feet in front if you gets pretty boring after so long. In the meantime we'd gotten another basket with 3 slices of bread. but still no main course. It took them almost 50 minutes!. The fish was OK, but greasy. The mashed potatoes were good. My vegetables were 2 slices of zucchini. My husband's vegetables were 2 slices of yellow squash and 2 slices of raw carrot ( really? 50 minutes were not enough to get them cooked?). Than came the bill. They charged us $29 plus tax per person. The $24 was the price betwern 4 and 6 they said. WOW, SO they told us the price was $24 just before 7 and charged us $29. They started blaming others for hsving given us the wrong information , but in the end lowered the price to $24 plus tax for each. Martha...
Read moreMy wife and I made a reservation for 8pm. Took a while to get seated because the hostess, also the owner and head chef Martha, needed to fix a seating mistake on the seating chart while we stood there and watched- but ok. Then, Martha says we have a table inside, but it’ll be loud in there and would we mind sitting outside. Well, I said no- would rather AC and no bugs so we asked for inside table. We sat down and were given bread, olive oil and seasoning, and water by a busboy- so that was cool. Then, we waited 20 mins for a server- no server, couldn’t flag anyone either so I went up front to ask for service. Turns out either the server didn’t see our table assignment, or Martha was distracted and didn’t assign our table to a server. Our server is very nice, apologizes, then Martha comes over, apologizes, then say’s she’ll give us a dessert on the house or something similar. So then food comes- very good! Cheese plate, soups, salmon, whitefish and great gluten free bread! We were too stuffed for desert and just ordered one espresso after the meal. We were comped the espresso for $3- felt kinda silly to get a $3 comp, but ok.
I’d recommend for the food, but I feel they didn’t make much of an effort to improve the...
Read moreComfort food that has higher-end flare. Nothing hippster-ey just the classics. Food was good. Since the other reviews complain about wait time, I can report I was seated promptly at 6:30 when our reservation started. My husband and I sat outside right in front of the stairs going in to the restaurant. It was a Sunday a week or so ago and they had a band playing. The band and patio were great.
Waitress was a little overwhelmed and seemed to be the only person waiting tables outside -- so she forgot I asked for more wine have after I asked to see the list twice.
The oldest thing happened while we were here--- Some woman who worked at Martha's was sitting in a tall bar chair staring in our direction the entire time -- I think her job was to be directing people inside to talk to the hostess. She seemed to know many people at the tables and was floating around as well. It was just odd and she asked us how our food was by shouting across the aisle over the music. Perhaps it was to give a homey feel? I can see why this is...
