Giovanni's Brooklyn Bagels - Swansboro — Restaurant in Swansboro

I’ve been a very loyal customer for about 7 months now and I’m not sure where to begin. It seems they’ve had a change of management and it hasn’t been the same. I haven’t seen Tori in a few weeks and it’s obvious that it’s gone down hill since then. The last couple of times I’ve been in the new manager Kathy has been standoffish and rude, both of which were never a problem with Tori. This past time I was never greeted and instead Kathy just waited for my order, with Tori I was always greeted as soon as I walked in the door and always felt welcome. Tori always remembered my name and order and would have the order sent in before quickly. A few weeks ago me and my friend were dining there and my friend noticed that Kathy sat there and took a picture of us, flash and all; I wouldn’t mind the poor customer service but this crossed a line. There needs to be a change or this place will go down fast, it seems it’s already on that track. The last few times I went in there was barely any cream cheese on my bagel, to the point where one half was practically bone dry. To the owner, a change in management is severely needed. I drive 33 minutes out of my way, when it seems my time and gas would be better spent going to Jacksonville.

Stopped by the new Giovanni's Brooklyn Bagels shop in Swansboro on a Sunday morning. I was surprised to see that it was quite busy! The staff were quick about entering orders in and the wait time was pretty short considering the amount of customers! There were plenty of fresh delicious bagels to choose from, all of which are displayed so you know which bagels are available. The menu is very easy to read and is filled with tons of delicious options ranging from a handful of flavored cream cheeses, different types of breakfast sandwiches, a variety of drinks, etc. In addition to the bagels being perfect (crisp on the outside, soft on the inside), they also come with the PERFECT amount of cream cheese. The true NY way. The store itself is beautifully decorated and comfortable. There is seating inside and outside so there is plenty of space for customers to eat in if they choose to. Quiet morning visit for what I was told some amazing bagels. I ordered a simple one, toasted with cream cheese. Expensive! Server at counter seemed bothered, like I was interrupting something. I was the only customer at the time. While dining in, some frequent customers arrived and counter person was friendly but young person in back seemed to be doing most of the work. I don't intend on patronizing here again. Per the owners mention, I did not say whether I liked it or not.... obviously it didn't strike my fancy enough, nor did the staff and atmosphere make me wish to return. The bagel is a New York style, which is different from other bagel stores in our area. I liked it, but again, not enough to return. I am pleased that a customer service staff is great if you know her. I like to spend my $$$ with mom & pop establishments that realized great customer service should extend to...
