Wouldn’t recommend this place for your last meal in life, wondering why? Read on! I entered this café on a Sunday morning, no where near peak hours for any restaurant and with little wait to order I was expecting a GREAT experience. I was sorely mistaken however because it took OVER 45 minutes to receive my food, and when I did finally receive my small order I found it to be COLD? Now normally I wouldn’t complain but I had previously spoken to a manger about the same issue the prior weekend and was told “we are training” this isn’t a good reason for service to suffer but I let it slide. But back to back weekends with AWFUL wait times is crazy. The atmosphere is GREAT and it seems like it’s all they care about, not only was the food I received cold but it didn’t even taste fresh. The Avocado Toast included dark green avocado spread and so much sauce I consider it inedible. I had only done take out in the past and had assumed it was an issue with DoorDash and not the restaurant, but after two visits I realize it’s issue on THEIR part of just genuinely not caring or genuinely not having the ability to run a successful café setting. If you’re looking for atmosphere free WiFi, The Tomato Pie Café is YOUR place to go!! But, if you’re like me and you’re looking for good service and a place to spend your hard earned money, Panera Bread is a better alternative!! (And I wouldn’t recommend that hospital food to anyone). Very disappointed in my whole experience overall. Tried giving them the benefit of the doubt and might return next Sunday for ONE more chance. But at this point I’m likely done with small local businesses who are in over their head overcharging for...
Read moreThis place would get 5 stars for the food, the politeness of the Male server we had, and the general atmosphere at the beginning of the visit, but gets 1 star for the end and the other servers, so a medium of 3 stars. Also, if we had left right after our main meal, it would have gotten 5 stars...
My wife and I arrived shortly after opening and were quickly seated. Our server, Mike, was kind and attentive. We are glad we got him because the older women servers looked rude and out of place in this "hipster" establishment. We even heard the one call the man who was sitting next to us a "cheap bastard" because of what we were guessing was a low tip. She may have tipped better if she seemed nicer and more excited to be there, and she shouldn't have used that language in front of customers.
We had our drinks and Mike quickly took our order. Even though he missed the nutella on my wife's strawberry nutella french toast, the cinnamon butter made up for it. My triple meat "omelet" was good, but the meat wasn't spread out evenly. I didn't get to any bacon until about halfway through.
After we were finished the main meal, the place got packed. We wanted dessert because it was our anniversary, but it took over 20 minutes to have our order taken for that. Then, another 20 before we got the desserts to go and the check. The desserts are premade and all that had to be done was to grab them from the case and add to the check.
My wife didn't realize the cookie dough dreamcake had cream cheese in it, so she ended up not eating most of it once we got home. We will be willing to go back for the main food, but will be skipping dessert, and won't be...
Read moreWow, I have to say this is one of the nicest casual cafe restaurants I've been in. However I try visiting establishments as the best possible time like 7am on a Tuesday morning.... no 35 minute wait for me! I'm in the area and was looking for something uniquely savory for breakfast. To my luck, this was the closest restaurant to me, nor have i had tomato in a pie. Oddly though I recenty tried tomato pie in Pottstown two weeks ago, so it must be tomato pie season in my life fight now. This is actually tomatoes in a pie with cheese vs square pizza with only fresh sauce/no cheese. Anyway it was a beautiful warm sunny spring morning, and the restaurant's atmosphere made my breakfast experience even more enjoyable. The sun shining through the large glass windows made the spacious and abundant seating really welcoming. I kind of want to stay and just read a book! There are 3 other groups of customers, but I feel I could get comfortably lost in solace. As for the food, I thought it was great! I opted for the regular tomato pie slice ($8) that included greens (spring mix) with a side of balsamic dressing (homemade I'm sure), and two mini herb scones. I never eat salad with breakfast, but the lettuce was perfectly fresh. Dressing good. Mini scones tasty too. They offer individual tomato pies for $6.75 sans the sides. The pie was a synergistically delicious blend of commonly consumed ingredients but served in a refreshingly new style... for me at leasf. Idk if tomato pies are a Harrisburg thing. Free wifi and dog...
