Great for a basic place to sleep and refresh, but if you need anything above that, look elsewhere.
The building from outside isn't too bad, but there isn't enough parking for the all the guests - come late in the evening, and you won't find any. They were doing construction the entire time of our stay, and the fuses in the lobby kept breaking.
Free Continental Breakfast was a sad view, they had bread (with a toaster), a coffee and tea stand, an orange juice and apple stand, and a machine that made waffles. They also had frosted flakes and raisin bran, and a gallon of milk. The batter for the waffles was thin and flat, and didn't taste like anything. Bring some food with you, if you can. The rooms have basic-function fridges (they basically make the food feel one degree below room temperature, no joke). Lobby consists of a "front desk" with two tables, and six chairs..a full motel would find this to be a problem .
The hallways have an off odor - like smoke or cigarettes, in combination which another off smell I can't identify. One ice machine for the entire building, too. No biggie if you can ignore those two things.
The bedding was rough. The comforter felt like a curtain, not like a bed cover. The fitted sheet was clean, but the loose sheet was peeling. The walls were painted over, but you can see the severe surface on it from age.
TV worked fine. Bathroom was decent (bathtub could use some work), but could use some major help. Looked very sad, and almost disgusting to do a basic wash in.
Despite all this, it was an ok place. But my major issue isn't with the place and the sadness within it, it's the professionalism with the place. Even motels should have some customer courtesy, or respect.
The night guy is great. Nice, down-to-earth, totally willing to assist you if you need anything. The lady who worked in the daytime was my problem. She wouldn't tell me her name, but she's this stout, still-faced, orange-yellow-white haired lady in her late fifties or sixties that is rough and lacks basic customer service skills. The morning I was checking out, the only microwave in the building, which was in the lobby (next to the breakfast), wasn't working. When finding that out, she got angry, and LITERALLY said, to herself (and everyone in the room), "Ok, I am PISSED now!!!" and she stomps over to the desk. Didn't know what she was trying to do, but she continued to slam doors, slam things onto the lobby desk, slam drawers, slam chairs. SHE WAS SLAMMING EVERYTHING AND IT WAS SO UNCOMFORTABLE. In being from out-of-state, this came to me as a surprise. But she was ANGRY. When a fellow guest asked her why she was angry and for what reason she was slamming everything, the lady tried to kick the guest out of the lobby, and immediately threatened to call the police on the guest. The guest challenged her, and when the lady realized the phone wasn't working, she shut up and stopped yelling, and slamming things.
Avoid her, or the motel. The manager didn't have the appearance of the manager, he was rigid, unsmiling, and when I saw him he looked like a custodian. Didn't find out he was a manager...
Read moreSorry, but it was one of my worst hotel experiences in recent memory.||I'm not bothered if something doesn't work here and there or if the interior is dated. As long as it's clean and I can get a good night sleep, I am satisfied. But this room had numerous problems which I'll describe and you can decide for yourself if they'd bother you: ||AC unit knob was broke, so it was either ON or OFF, no adjusting the temperature for comfort. Turn it on to make the room an icebox, then turn it off. But at least it worked. Toilet wasn't connected to the floor properly so it wobbled around as you sat on it. The back of the chair at the desk was broken so if you leaned back you'd fall right over. Phone on the night stand was dead (only a big deal if you need it, see below). Carpet felt kind of slick. Only one pack of decaf coffee provided for the machine. Mildew in the shower tiles. None of the above bothered me all that much. On the plus side, the beds and pillows were comfortable and the sheets were clean. I didn't see any bugs or evidence of vermin. Staff at the desk was friendly.||But undoubtedly the single worse aspect was the loud family that seemed to be living next door to our room. They had one or more small children and didn't mind at all letting them run the halls at midnight. Instead, the "adults" simply talked loudly so they could hear themselves over the kids. I was woken up by this at 11:30pm and it continued until after 1:00am. It it was awful. I couldn't call the desk to complain because of the dead phone, but I'm sure they were aware because the short hallway leads right to the front desk. ||You would think adults with a family would have some common sense and basic consideration for others but these people most definitely did not. You would also think that staff would want to nip that sort of thing for the benefit of their other patrons. Even if they don't care about them on a personal level, at least to prevent negative reviews. I'm not saying I would've left a glowing positive review otherwise, but I wouldn't have posted this negative review if not for this.||If the owners read this, if they care about their business they need to do something about this sort of thing as it is...
Read moreAre you kidding me.... don't stay at this one, go to the Super 8 off Jonestown Road in Harrisburg, that place was amazing. Lots of pillows on each bed, plenty of toiletries and coffee supplies. And we were very surprised at the free breakfast for a Super 8. THIS PLACE... 3 bath towels for a room that sleeps 4 people? 1 cup, 2 coffee packets with 1 condiment packet? The "informal dining" area they have for your free breakfast is actually where the front desk is, and I didn't want to go in there to get my key much less eat in there. There's black mold in shower with nasty stuff in the grout. I know what you're thinking, this is a Super 8, and I can handle a bad room... but a bad room and BAD customer service.... ? There was nothing professional about this person. When asked about getting some shampoo and conditioner, we were told they don't give out conditioner anymore. Nor do they give more than 1 coffee...? How about, I'm sorry the establishment sucks, but how can I make it better for you.....? No, the clerk seemed bothered because he was playing Mindcraft on his laptop when asked for the toiletries that we didn't have, yet they advertise in their bathroom to provide. When given the room key a "sticky note" was attached to tell us the room number. Is this what Wyndham wants their name attached to? The basics in hotel/motel service... be nice, have clean towels, or at least enough... and try and make it better for your GUESTS, not tell them how much you hate working Sundays. Oh, and we were told that although we didn't have as many pillows as the other Super 8, at least we got a pillow-topped mattress. The only reason they are even getting 1 star is because we couldn't post this with NONE. Ok, at least he went to the laundry room and got us more coffee....We feel like we got sucked into a black hole, vortex that even the Wyndham Wizard can't...
