Homewood Suites Harrisburg East-Hershey Area is In the outskirts of Harrisburg, but easy to get to from here. Hershey is a few exits down on Highway 322, East. Very good, flexible location. Check in was pleasant, we were welcomed and told of the hotel's features/amenities and were given the amenities sheet. The hotel is spacious and likely had been attempted to be decorated to the regions tastes. The room, 210 with 2 queens that we stayed on for 2 nights, is spacious and functional. The entire room is clean and comfortable. The kitchenette is equipped with a full size refrigerator/freezer and microwave(I appreciate this because you can produce your own ice by pulling down the ignition lever), basic kitchen dish ware, a cook top, sink, dishwasher, a dining table with two chairs, and descent counter space. The living area has a separate work desk with plenty of outlets, 2 plugs and 2 USB chargers. The desk is big and has the hotel manual is on it. The couch can seat three mid size people and doubles as a Hida-Bed, linens are in the closet. The entire area is very well lighted, both natural and fixtures. The TV works well, gets good reception, and you get the popular HD TV channels. There is even a DVD player in the lower console, the suite shop offers rental movies so that is a time shaving/rest option. The bedroom area is of adequate size, there is a separate TV in there, room for your luggage and bags, a nightstand with the same outlet scenario as the Desk. The beds are very comfortable and clean. They offer plenty of support and comfort. The bathroom is adequate, the shower is fantastic, might have the best water pressure I've seen in a hotel. The vanity area is well lighted and has descent counter space and has a shelf below and a closet to the left with extra space on the top rack. The closet has standard hangers, hida-bed linens, ironing equipment, and laundry order forms. The wifi does well for most light to intermediate computational tasks. The air conditioning is not fantastic, it serves its job, but struggled to bring the room anything below 70 degrees without running for 5 hours straight, note that the outdoor weather was dry and did not get above 90 degrees so it was hot, so I'll cut it some slack for it. The Suite Start breakfast is your basic Homewood suites breakfast with plenty of options and tastes good. If there is one thing I really appreciate about Homewood Suites is that they host Evening Socials, which run from 5:00-7:00 pm, they serve a variety Lite Fare food items, like salad, chicken, snacks, pasta, free drinks, and other items. The food is on a rotating menu, which can be found on your room's refrigerator door. After dinner, you can go to the terrace and sit and have a drink on the patio tables and furniture, putt on the putting green, play basketball, or play shuffleboard(note, the sport activities equipment can be acquired through the front Desk. Please also note, that the putting and shuffle board is unique to this Homewood Suites Property and I have not stayed in any other Homewood Suites property with them). The pool looks nice and big, we never used. The laundry is adequate, the machines appeared to be clean. We had trouble turning on the washer, after dispensing our coins, placing detergent, and adjusting the wash settings, the machine would not start, it just lit up on its wash cycle setting. Though, after a bang to the box above the coin taker, up the machine started. I reckon the coin got stuck and did not go through, and the thump knocked them in. Check out was peasant, everyone was friendly here. In summary, this hotel stay has been fantastic, I would highly recommend to anyone looking for lodging in both Harrisburg and Hershey...
Read moreStayed here for two nights and it was a mostly positive experience. The staff did everything they could to help us and were very kind and friendly. My husband and I came to Harrisburg to attend a concert at Hershey stadium. I checked the pet policy on the Web site and called to ensure we had a pet friendly room, we were told all rooms are pet friendly. The Web site refers to a $75.00 pet fee for the entire stay if it's a short stay as ours was this time. The issue was when I checked in, I was asked to sign a policy that says you cannot leave your dog unattended in the room. We came here to see Pink, not a cheap show, a bucket list item, and a 5 hour drive from our home. We always travel with our dog and she has a crate she feels safe in when we are traveling and have to leave her in the room. This has always sufficed at other hotels. This was an impossible surprise and one I didn't feel was fair, especially when I had called that day to communicate we would be a late arrival and requested a first floor room to easily walk our dog; we didn't arrive until after 10 p.m.. Nowhere on the Web site does it say you can't leave your pet alone in the room! I want to add I can understand the part of the policy where they reserve the right to ask you to leave if your dog is a nuisance. Our dog is an angel but I've had some that weren't. When we leave her, I put her crate right in front of the A/C unit, far from the door to the room, and I leave the tv and lights on for her to drown out any noise from the hall to ensure she doesnt bark. We have never had a problem.
Additionally, the first room we had, on the first floor was at 75 degrees when we arrived and although a maintenance technician promptly arrived to help with the H-vac, it wasn't cooling fast enough. I asked for another room on a higher floor where I would feel safe opening the windows if that room too was hot. The hotel was almost completely booked but they had one double bedroom suite available and they upgraded us to that room for free. That room was getting all the air the other one wasn't and we were plenty cool and happy all throughout our stay. On check out day we asked for an extra hour and it was given without question or issue. The bed was comfy as was the chair and love seat. The shower was good. The suite had a nice big fridge with a stove-top and nice microwave. The room was clean and we felt safe. There were some stains on the love seat in the room we stayed in but not in the hot room we left. The location is good, near many restaurants and shops, and the hotel is super quiet! The pool looked big and beautiful from a distance but we didnt use it because we arrived late. We never tried the breakfast because it ends at 9 and we are late sleepers. If check out is at 11, breakfast should be offered until 10:30, in my opinion.
It was all in all a good stay but asking guests to sign a pet policy not previously advertised causing unnecessary stress and anxiety to the customer...
Read moreVery disappointed! My family and I never have to change the bedsheet and clean the toilet, bathtub and floor on the first night in a hotel and this is a Hilton with excellent online reviews and is charging the highest rate per night in the area . The bedsheet did not appear that it had been replaced as there were hair clusters on it. Since it was after 11 pm at night, I just asked the front desk to give me a new set and changed it myself. Then, I used the toilet before taking a shower. I noticed there were multiple yellow stinky stains on the toilet seat and multiple areas. I did not call the front desk immediately because my family and I were so tired after coming back from Hersheypark and needed to go to sleep early for the next day's activities. My husband and I spent our valuable time at night changing the bed sheet and then cleaning the toilet with soap and paper towel. Then, another surprise was the bathtub had stains/chips in the inner bottom. Another clean up was done and I told my husband and my toddler boy not to step on the chipped area when taking a shower, not to take a bath and not to sit down in the tub. After that I got a feeling that the room had not been fully cleaned before I checked in in the afternoon, I walked around and looked at the floor and carpet. I quickly found rice and some food particles near the couch area and the dinning table, and a small bug crawling on the bathroom floor. Again, we cleaned up the food and the bug. I thought about requesting to change the room in the middle of the night but we really needed to sleep and I heard the front desk said all King rooms were sold out. Reported to the front desk the next day and the front desk said he would inform the management, no one...
