This place is my new favorite restaurant! Bring some friends, share all the dishes, and have a wonderful time! It’s different from the normal restaurants where here you order small plates to share with the table, getting an array of flavors. The menu is diverse and delicious! The chef is amazing and even came out to say hello to us. The spicy tacos are so juicy and the meat is so tender. Absolutely love the acorn squash risotto, it’s cheesy and beautiful. The empanadas are flaky and buttery. And the desserts are literally the most perfect ending. Cannot say enough good things!
UPDATE: HOLD MY BEER. I cant help myself from coming back to this restaurant! My last visit I had the pleasure of enjoying the Tomato Pesto Foccacia, Seafood Paella, and the Roasted Root Vegetables, needless to say everything was spectacular! The foccacia was flavorful and so soft and fresh! The paella had the perfect medley of seasonings, tasted wonderful! The roasted vegetables had a honey glaze on them that really knocked them out of the park! Everytime I come here I feel like I'm dining at a friends home. The waitress, Heather, we have her often and everytime she remembers me! She is so friendly and helpful, the best server I have ever had! She brings so much to the table (pun intended) and not just talking about the food! She is attentive, knowledgeable, so friendly and is always smiling! I adore her! And speaking of adoring the staff at Blk Shp, I cant forget about Chef! She does incredible work in the kitchen and with the menu! Everything I have ever had here (and I have tasted a bit of the menu) is always so damn good! Everytime I leave its with a full belly begging for a nap! This last visit the dessert special was a pumpkin tiramisu!! PUMPKIN TIRAMISU?! YES PLEASE. I had to have it and boy was I glad I did!! Loved it of course! I love when the opportunity arises for Heather and the Chef to be able to chat at my table for a minute, we catch up like old pals and I love them both for being so wonderful in...
Read moreThe menu looked really interesting but the actual food was not. The baked Brie with honey and fig was not melted and kind of rubbery There was not enough honey or fig flavors to offset the strong taste of the Brie.I’ve had far better baked Brie dishes from home cooks on holidays. The Spanish potatoes were gross, did not like the flavor combo whatsoever. I did like the fried eggplant rounds, but wasn’t really blown away by them or anything. The crab croquette was good but the elote sauce that went with it was bland and tangy and just tasted similar to Greek yogurt sauce with corn pieces. It just didn’t pair well with crab cake in my opinion. Lastly, the falafel was dry and there was more lettuce and tomato on the pita wrap (which seemed a bit stale) than falafel. I’ve been to Middle Eastern restaurants and had some great falafels and this was just not one of them. We also got 2 bloody Mary’s which were underwhelming as well. The whole experience was a major regret, not horrible but not very satisfying. Ended up paying 120$ for two people and wish I got a more substantial meal at Bottos instead. On a positive note, the atmosphere was very nice and trendy. The service was great as well. Maybe for cocktails and a lite snack it would be ok…..I just didn’t find it to be worth the hype from the...
Read moreHad an amazing time last night at this establishment. I've travelled the world and have eaten at many fine restaurants during my career (USA and globally). This establishment ranks up with some of the best. Service was impeccable and fun (thanks Heather), and had the opportunity to meet and talk with the chef/owner Elizabeth who was very gracious. My dining partners did not drink however I had the clementini which was delish (had 4). Food was (overall) amazing - eggplant chips with tzatziki, mussels, cheese sitting in a pastry shell with egg on top, empanadas all delicious. Slight gripe - ribs were not fall off the bone tender (sauce was amazing tho) - ribs seemed to be st. louis cut - perhaps baby backs and longer cooking time would have made them fall of the bone - stuffed jalapenos very nice idea with the date/cheese wrapped in bacon; however my preference (with the bacon) would have been more successful IMO to have been crispy rather than soft - just couldn't get past soft fatty bacon. Have had similar at other tapas places where the bacon was crispy (such as Barcelona in PHL) and texturally better. This is nit picking I know. Beautiful ambience. All in all a wonderful experience and highly...
