In response to the owner - I appreciate your response, but I want to clarify a few points.
First, my order was placed on a regular Tuesday midday, not during Super Bowl weekend. Your assumption about surge pricing does not apply, and there was no notice or disclaimer indicating higher prices due to demand. If that were the case, it should have been communicated at the time of ordering.
Second, before writing my review, I compared your pricing to both local restaurants, including your neighbor The Red Hen, and national chains like Wingstop. Your claim that you offer the âcheapestâ wing prices is simply not accurate. Not only are your prices higher, but your portion sizes have also decreased significantly, further diminishing the value.
Additionally, you dismissed my feedback as a âlong negative review,â when in reality, I provided a balanced and fair assessment. I acknowledged your restaurantâs strengthsâpraising the food, service, and ambianceâwhile highlighting a very real concern about pricing and value. That is not just a ânegative reviewâ; it is honest feedback from a longtime customer.
While I understand the rising costs of food and labor, the issue here is not just inflationâit is lack of transparency and a noticeable decline in portion sizes without proper communication. Customers should not have to find out about drastic changes in value after theyâve already paid.
I stand by my review. My family has been loyal patrons for years, but at these prices and portion sizes, we can no longer justify our support. Instead of dismissing customer concerns with generalized industry struggles, I hope you take this as constructive feedback on how pricing transparency and portion consistency impact customer loyalty.
â Rating: 2.5/5
My family and I have been loyal patrons of Spicy Affair for several years, always enjoying their flavorful Indian cuisine, warm ambiance, and exceptional serviceâespecially from Andrew, our usual server. However, after a recent takeout experience, Iâve sadly decided that I can no longer justify dining here.
Food: 3.5/5 The food at Spicy Affair has always been consistent, and given that itâs the only Indian restaurant in the area, it has been our go-to spot. However, while the flavors are usually enjoyable, the portions have become smaller, and the value has diminished significantly.
Pricing: 1/5 The final straw for me was a recent small takeout orderâtwo orders of wings, totaling approximately $26. In the past, this was a generous portion, enough to share with my family. To my shock, upon picking up the order, I found only five wings per containerânot even whole wings! That means I paid $26 for 10 wing pieces, which is simply outrageous. While I understand that food prices have been rising, this level of price increase feels unreasonable and disappointing.
Service & Ambiance: 5/5 Despite this experience, I have nothing but praise for the service, particularly Andrew, who has always been a pleasure. The restaurant itself is stunning, which makes for an enjoyable dining experience.
Final Verdict: As much as weâve loved Spicy Affair, this pricing issue has become too big to ignore. The food remains enjoyable, but at these prices, it no longer feels worth it. Regretfully, my family and I will no longer be supporting the restaurant.
Would I return? Not unless they reassess...
Read moreSo here's my review. We dined here tonight based on the 4.5 star reviews on Google. From the start i could tell it was going to be off a little. We arrived at 6:15 without a reservation. Place is really nice inside. Nice atmosphere. Was asked if we had a reservation which we said no. The waiter said let me see what I can do. Most of these tables are reserved. He came back and said as long as you are done be 8pm. He said all the tables are booked for 8pm.Which was kind of odd since it was only 6:15. Which we said was fine. Was seated and given menus. We ordered 2 chi teas, And a mango smoothie . Our 2 chi teas came out. Our food runner while placing them on the table spilled the tea. Over the menu, my phone and my glasses. She said she was sorry, which was no problem. She wiped up the spill. The top of the menu and left. Waiter came back to take our order. We ordered a sampler app and the Masala chicken wings. When the food runner brought the apps out(same girl that spilled the tea) she dropped some of the sampler on the floor. We all watched it fall on the floor. She noticed it as well. But said nothing. I guess she was still embarrassed by the tea. That food stayed on the floor the entire time we were there. So my chicken wings were ok. These are not fresh. But frozen. You can tell. The sampler app was really bad. Over fried frozen food. We finished the wings. The sauce for them was ok. When the waiter came back to collect the plates didn't ask if there was an issue with the one plate with 85% of the food still on it. And 5% still laying on the floor. Next come the entrees . We had the chicken vindaloo. And the dal makhani. Asked if we wanted mild, medium or spicy. We chose medium. When they came out the presentation was nice. Looked good. But the food was bland. I mean very bland. No spice, no heat. Not much flavor at all. Rice was good. Naan was ok. But tasted like yesterday's that was reheated. Ok now on to the star of the night. My sons chicken nuggets and fries. The fries were outstanding. Nice crisp and seasoned well. The nuggets were fried nice and he was happy as hell with his meal. He gave it 5 stars. But he never got his mango smoothie he ordered. Waiter took it off the bill. Service was extremely slow. We were worried if we be done by 8. Waiter came by and asked if we wanted dessert, which we declined. Also asked if we would like boxes to take home food. Which we also declined. Probably 75% of the food we ordered on the table and saying no to boxes you think if they ask if there was a problem with the food. Nope. We paid the bill and left at 7:57. The place was empty. One other table and they left right behind us. There are so many better choices then this place. I really don't leave bad reviews. You can check my past reviews of other places but this one is a hard pass for me. So many others better...
Read moreThe food was very delicious but the service was horrible. My self and family, drove 30min to get to this Indian restaurant BECAUSE of the 4.5 Review ratings on GOOGLE. But unfortunately we did not get a good service. Soon as we got their we were able to find parking in the back of the Indian restaurant. It is located in a great area. But again unfortunately we did NOT get a good service. Soon as we enter the restaurant, we saw that there were only 6 tables which were occupied by guests. The other ones were empty completely! We waited about 5min in front of the SNAKE statue and then this lady wearing yellow dress and tattoos all over her body comes up and states that " Do you have a reservation"? in a very bad unfriendly tone. I said politely stated no we don't but I do see a lot of tables/chairs are empty. And then she quickly interrupts and states that they are all RESERVED. I than ask her politely, If we can still dine in tonight since we drove 30min away from our home. Also I pointed out a table in the left corner which had 6 chairs and we were party of 4. But she stated RUDLY that and I quote "I AM NOT GOING TO GIVE YOU TABLE FOR 6 PEOPLE AND YOU ARE ONLY 4. My mother who accompanied us whispered to me that we should leave immediately due to this persons rude behavior but I told my mother that lets see if something can be done. And then the "Lady in the yellow dress" rudely stated that let me see what I can do. Finally after waiting sometime in front of the SNAKE statue 5-10min, she came and said there is a table available and she pointed to the table with her finger and left us. I wanted to leave immediately but unfortunately we drove 30min and then my wife stated since we are here lets just eat and forget about the experience. We waited 15min before she comes back again asking us for drinks. She did not bring any menus with her. THANK GOD THERE WAS A QR code on the table so we were quickly able to jump into menu from our cell phones. When my wife asked do we order from our phone then she said "NO YOUR SERVER WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU AND LEFT!!!!!!. I want to give shout out to "NOVA" the server who did an amazing job and took good care of my family. The food was very delicious. Please check out the pictures but I don't think I would ever go back to this restaurant due to the service which I have received. Also the TABLE that was for 6ppl, she gave it to 4ppl party while we were eating our food and there were a lot empty tables and chairs.
I know its a lot of information and some of you might just get board reading it. But I say it as it is. My self and family did not feel welcome at all and I don't want any of you or your family to have this same experience. Thank you for reading my able experience. Have...
