We got a very lukewarm greeting. We we seated in very uncomfortable chairs but made it work. Server, Yasmine, brought our menus. They have a pretty decent selection and a lot SOUNDS delicious. We ordered a soda and iced tea. My iced tea has a weird taste and was weak. I had to ask for sweetener, which is fine. I also asked for lemon. We order the “real crab fries” and buffalo wings. I had to remind our server that I wanted lemon. The food was brought out all at once, which was fine but we had no silverware and we needed a fork to eat the fries. This was the second time our server disappeared and we asked another server for silver. The “real crab fries” had a decent flavor but the fries were literally like eating mashed potatoes. The were completely soggy and there wasn’t even a ton of cheese sauce on them. The fries were just massively undercooked. The wings were cooked the way we asked but the sauce was not tossed on the wings. It was drizzled over them and the majority just sat on the bottom. After food was dropped our server disappeared yet again. My husband was looking for her to get another soda. When she finally appeared, my husband flagged her down for a soda and that was the only time she asked how the food was. We had eaten what we could of the fries at that point. We got our check and we notice that it is says that they will be charging a service charge for anyone using a card. They don’t tell you that when you sit down before your order, it is not listed on the menu, it is listed nowhere except for on the bill. They don’t even tell you the percentage they will be charging until you give them the card. This place isn’t cheap either. For 2 of us with tax, tip and service charge it was $70 for wings, fries, and 2 soft drinks. Not worth it at all. Yasmine needs better training or something. We still gave 18% tip when we typically give 20% or better. It seemed promising but unfortunately grossly failed. Better service would have made somewhat of...
Read moreNot impressed.
I had heard so many good things about Red Hen, so when I was meeting two friends for lunch, I insisted we try it out.
The service was great. Super friendly and attentive waitstaff.
Everything else was pretty mid.
It was shocking to see zero fun non-alcoholic beverage options. No coffee drinks, no mocktails, but... I saw the alfogato on the menu, so I ordered that without the liquor. Our server came back to let me knew they only had decaf espresso (what?!?!). I got a water and the chicken and wild rice soup. It was decent. Served in a big bowl with no crackers.
My one friend saw the bourbon pecan bread pudding on the menu a week in advance and knew she was going to get that. It was actually our deciding factor in going here. When we arrived, the first thing she did was ask if they had it (just to be sure, since sometimes places run out). She had a dish she was going to order as a backup, if they didn't have her dessert, but when they confirmed they had it, she went with her original plan and got a white pizza, which I will say smelled delicious.
My other friend got a fresh salad and a crock of French onion soup. Her soup looked underwhelming, especially being served in the diner capital of the world, and she confirmed it wasn't that great.
So back to the bread pudding. The time has come for the pièce de résistance. My friend put in her order. Don't you know, the server comes back to say they're OUT OF VANILLA ICE CREAM! The disappointment on my friend's face. I get it. It happens. But she checked before ordering anything!
I wanted to like this place so badly. The vibe is cool, the location is great. But I wasn't impressed by anything. I wouldn't choose to go again, but if friends were going, I'd join them and give...
Read moreThis was our first (and only) visit at lunch time. The restaurant location was nice and I really liked the decor. Unfortunately, right away, I was put off by the restrooms. There was no toilet paper in the ladies room. All stalls were empty and there were no paper towels. Luckily, I had tissues in my purse, but what an awkward situation for anyone unprepared.
Once seated, the server came over and took our drink order. She wasn't super friendly, but wasn't rude either. Unfortunately, when she brought our drinks, she dumped an entire soda on my daughter. Her shirt and jeans were soaked! The waitess said she was sorry, but wasn't overly helpful in cleaning up the mess!
I was ready to leave at that point but everyone was hungry,, and we had other plans,, so they wanted to just eat.
We all ordered sandwiched and nothing was good. My husband and other daughter ordered the pulled pork, which had huge chunks of fat in it (disgusting!), my first daughter had a burger that was so well done she could have used it as a hockey puck, and my chicken was so tough it was inedible.
We asked for the bill, and to my surprise, they didn't even comp my daughters meal after dumping an entire drink on her. They really need to work on their custimer service skills/management skills.
Icing on the cake, we decided to use the restroom before leaving, since we had a long drive ahead of us, and in an hour they still did not replenish the toilet paper or paper towels in the restroom.
There are a few really cute restaurants in the area...I would recommend trying some place other then...
