I had a terrible experience at Thai Town 5. I ordered a Thai coffee to go, but when I arrived to pick it up, the worker (a younger guy, possibly the ownersโ son) was incredibly rude. He claimed my order wasnโt showing up and refused to give me my coffee, even after I showed him my confirmation email and text. He responded with, โI donโt know what Iโm looking at, so I canโt give you it.โ
After I explained the confirmation and proved my order, he finally made the coffee but remained rude. He handed it to me and asked, โHow exactly did you even order this? Like through DoorDash or a made-up system?โ I told him I had ordered directly through their website, and he sarcastically replied, โSo a made-up system,โ with an annoyed tone.
His attitude was dismissive and unprofessional throughout the entire interaction. It was an unpleasant experience, and I wouldnโt recommend coming here when heโs working.
With all that said, the coffee and food I've had have been great. The lady who usually serves me wasn't there the day that happened, but she's always been pleasant and so sweet. That day was just a bad experience with this...
ย ย ย Read moreTHIS IS THE BEST THAI FOOD IN SYCAMORE / DEKALB!!! I moved to the area a little over a year ago and the cities are woefully under serviced by good restaurants. A few good Mexican spots, and one or two decent Asian food places are not the makings of a decent food scene. Luckily Thai Town is here to solve all of your problems. So far I've only had their Pad Thai which is a great test to see if a Thai restaurant is up to snuff. Over the next few weeks I will be exploring other menu options and updating my review. I did notice extended wait times, and a somewhat disorganized kitchen to front of house experience. However after being in the restaurant industry myself, I cannot fault an establishment that's only been open for less than two weeks. Once Thai Town gets into the groove and starts reliably and regularly figuring out their online orders and in store orders they will quickly grow to outpace their current building. I see great things ahead for Thai Town. Support local businesses and give them the breathing room to grow...
ย ย ย Read moreFood was excellent! We got the panang curry with chicken, pad thai with pork, fried dumplings and egg rolls. The panang curry was very good and flavorful and very close to the panang curry I used to get in Denver. It was much better than the way the other places in dekalb make it and I will definitely be ordering it from here again. My boyfriend said that the pork in the pad thai was very good with his first bite and then finished his entire meal. The dumplings were also very good. This place seems to mix the typical dumplings sauce with a sweet and sour sauce, which adds some extra tanginess to the usual flavor and was a nice surprise. It was very good. The egg rolls were also very good, even though they were the small kind, you get 3 in the order, and they are wrapped in a wonton rather than the typical fried rice paper that the smaller egg rolls are usually wrapped in, so they were much more flavorful and better than the usual egg rolls...
