Waffle House — Restaurant in Sylva

Generally the food here is average and the service is below average. Most of the time all the employees leave to go out to the front and have a smoke break at the same time. One server has taken our order the last several times we have been and she yells across the restaurant asking what we want to drink. The waiter scoffed at us and made a big deal about all the plates she had to bring for two people. We ordered the all-star special, a bacon bowl, and a waffle. The eggs were cold, my toast was burnt black although it wasn't charred enough to make it inedible, the grits were bland, the bacon was raw on one side, and the waffles were so cold our butter didn't melt at all. The syrup bottle was drenched in its own syrup and we were never actually waited on. No refills, no "how is everything?," nothing. I gave a zero tip on my card, but if there was any courtesy at all at the counter, I still had the ability to leave a cash tip on the table. I asked for the WCU discount and received an attitude from our server. She noticed my zero tip and when I asked for a to go box that I had been waiting on for a while before, she stuck her arm out, said "here" and had me walk across the restaurant to come get my box. As a person who has worked in food service before, I was very disappointed in the lack of effort not only from this server this time, but every service we have had from the same individual. I can understand having a bad night, but she does not do her job well and the experience was bad all around tonight from terrible food, to terrible service. Until tonight, I have absolutely never left a tipping restaurant without leaving any tip. ...

I went into the Waffle House to get my breakfast before work on 7/18/23 @7 am. I sat my phone and card on the counter to put butter on my meal. Left! Did not realize I had left my debit card. The manager of the Waffle House stole my debit card. He spent my money at GameStop twice, vape store, shoe show, Lowe’s, shell station twice spending over 700.00 before it stopped him. He even tried multiple times doing an online order at Walmart but since he wasn’t matching address with my card it didn’t allow him so then he went back to shopping again. He was arrested and caught on camera in multiple places. He still has his job at the Sylva Waffle House . I am trying to get ahold of corporate. The manager has court coming up and he admitted to everything that he done when they showed him they had him on camera using my card. He told them everything he did. I would not trust this location when a manager steals from customers. Companies like this should be ashamed to even let him stay after what he did. They didn’t even make things right and fire him. I will be at court!!! He tried saying he found it in a parking lot when I had been in there and left my card. He’s a criminal who steals from customers. Will be back to this review to post his picture, charges, court dates and everywhere he spent my card. Karma! Want to keep him there after what he did I will not stop and going to WLOS and the sylva herald as well. You don’t steal from me...

I came to this Waffle House last night with 3 other friends of mine. When we came in everything seemed alright. They didn't have much to choose from but I settled with something. A patty melt I believe. Our wait was not that long but the waitress we had was a bit rude. She gave us some slightly dirty looks but then says "Im sorry" for no reason. She really confused me but I gave her the benefit of the doubt because it was pretty late. My friends told me that the cook was yelling and being quite harsh with the waitresses and I overheard as well. Our food came and everything tasted absolutely horrible. The grits were hard and cold, sandwich was mostly uncooked eggs, and my side of eggs were almost entirely raw (I ordered regular scrambled eggs to REPLACE the hashbrowns, and I never ordered grits..). I had my friend try to be sure because he is not a picky eater and he gagged. I left the establishment with only taking a few bites and I payed afterwards. Its bad that I had to go to Mcdonalds right next door, and order a coffee to get that taste out of my mouth. Never going to any waffle...
