Ameera is named after the owner Nick's grandmother. My mother and I visited there soon after they opened for the day. Nick greeted us as we entered through the door. The first thing I noticed was the cleanliness. Nick seated us, gave us menus and asked what we would like to drink. Mom ordered lemonade and I ordered their Paradise smoothie. Both were freshly made. We are looking for diversity so we began with the vegetarian combo appetizer. Honestly, for one person this appetizer alone is meal enough and it was very satisfying. Mom ordered the chicken sambusack and I ordered a combo plate favorited by Ameera herself. Both plates came with a nice heap of fresh salad greens. You won't find any iceberg lettuce here. The salad remained fresh and crisp throughout the meal. Mom and I had tastes from each other's plate as this is also a culinary expedition. Next to Mom's salad was a triangle shaped pita bread that was filled with all kinds of goodies. Throughout there is a slight curry flavor that we enjoyed and all the flavors melded together wonderfully balanced. At this point we realized that this was no ordinary restaurant. Nick is very friendly and approachable when we asked questions about the food. This man has a genuine passion and pride in what he serves and keeps true to his roots and in the tradition of grandma Ameena. We felt as if we were in someone's home eating a home-cooked meal created by grandma. I'm looking forward to going there again for the cauliflower plate and the lamb chops. Dessert? Nick asks. You gotta be kidding! We left there feeling very full, but not heavily so like we ate a 2lb greasy hamburger. Ameera also offers catering. Don't pass up this gem. Eat better, eat well, eat healthier. Highly...

We arrived at about 5:15 and the only ones in the restaurant, with another couple finally arriving about 40 minutes later, on a Thursday evening.
My wife and I have eaten a significant amount of middle eastern food in our lives, living within 20 minutes of Dearborn, Mi. (The capital of middle eastern restaurants and community)
With this said, for everyone to give almost all 5 stars tells me these folks have not experienced much Mediterranean food. (No disrespect to the owner and understand this is just my opinion, based on 25plus years of eating Mediterranean food)
The hummus was the most unappealing in image and taste. It had an odd color with different seasoning than any other and very salty. Ate it, as I was starved from working out but would not order again.
The combo plate I had was tasty, but far from"huge" portions some commented on here.
The chicken Swarma plate my wife ordered actually came in a bowl with about 3oz of chicken and hummus.
We were also made aware at the beginning to ignore the prices as they all went up but he decided not to create new menus.
This is the first time in my life, I had a restaurant tell me this. I guess I could have asked him what each menu item actually was, but that is a very uncomfortable situation.
At the end of the day, $52 for two people and leaving underwhelmed, we won't be back.
We wish the owner the best, but this restaurant and food...

Service: awesome. Nick treats you like family. He even called me his cousin. Lol
Food: Hummus - delicious taste, a bit thinner than other hummus we've had. But, when that homemade hot sauce is added I forgot my own name it was THAT good.
Kibbie: well seasoned meat, the breading(?) was superb. It was not super crunchy. The breading element also individual bite was stellar! You guessed it, we dipped that baby in the hot sauce and the yogurt sauce.
The appetizers were so good, we let Nick pick the entrees. I am pretty sure he gave us the chicken and beef sish kabobs.
Chickens came with the garlic aoili type of dip (sauce?) on the side. You know I'm going to say it was amazing and delicious.
Beef: this man cooked those tenderloin pieces better than MOST steakhouses. It was a perfect medium rare. You guessed it - it was delicious.
Desserts (for take out lol) chocolate cake and grandmas rice pudding.
Rice pudding: thick and creamy, not too sweet. Personally, think a few golden raisins would be fantastic in there. This doesn't seem to be in the menu. Maybe it's a special thing.
Chocolate cake: this was the thing that slightly disappointed us. The taste was ok but it was dry. Now, to be fair, he told us his cousin in Cleveland makes them for him. So it isn't like he can get a fresh one outta the kitchen everyday. So, I'd take one a bit on the drier side and have a milk chaser than commercial garbage.
Do yourself and your taste buds a favor, stop in to see Nick. Tell him cousin Kerri from Dayton sent you.
See ya next time...
